Carol had a dream, a very terrifying dream.
In her dream, she was engulfed in flames, watching helplessly as her fair, tender legs burned to ashes, unable to do anything but open her mouth and let out desperate wails.
The dream was so real that she woke up screaming for help.
"Stop screaming, no one is trying to kill you."
A familiar voice reached her ears. Carol opened her eyes and, seeing the black armor beside her, instinctively raised her right hand. A purple javelin shot out and lodged in the armor's chest.
Luke grabbed the javelin, tossed it aside, and removed his faceplate, revealing a face full of helplessness.
"After a few months, you're still so impulsive."
"Luke Shaw!"
The girl gritted her teeth, remembering everything that had happened before. Anger surged uncontrollably within her, and purple light swirled around her, manifesting several javelins shimmering with a purple glow.
Luke said helplessly, "Can we sit down and talk? If we can't agree, then we can consider fighting."
Carol turned her head away. "I have nothing to discuss with you."
"Don't be so absolute. After all, we've had a relationship for years. Even if you want to kill me, at least give me a chance to explain."
"Explain?"
Carol let out a sarcastic laugh. "What do you want to explain? What is there to explain? Are you going to tell me that none of those women had anything to do with you?"
"There's a reason for this. It's been three years, and you still don't understand me. I would never get involved with those women. The situation at the time was a bit special, it was... it was..." Luke's mind raced, unable to find the right words. He could only force an explanation, "It was an accident, yes, an uncontrollable accident."
Carol laughed exaggeratedly, bending over with laughter.
"Luke Shaw, I knew you used to be shameless, but I never thought you'd be so utterly despicable! In three months, you had relations with dozens of women of different skin colors, and you call it an accident!"
"You're so smart, can't you come up with a better excuse? Or do you just not even want to bother making one up?"
Luke: "..."
"Anyway, it's a fact. I don't know the specific reason, I can only tell you that my mind was affected at the time."
Carol snorted coldly, no longer wanting to deal with this shameless scumbag.
Luke knew the excuse was flimsy, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't very well say he had swallowed the former governor's soul, which then led to months of absurd behavior. Explaining it that way would only make things more complicated.
"Let's put that aside for now and talk about last night. Oh, and can you change out of that sexy battle suit? I'm afraid I might lose control and have other thoughts."
"Bastard!"
Carol glared at him furiously and turned to go upstairs. This villa was bought for her by Luke, and they had lived here for a long time. The girl was very familiar with the layout of the villa.
Two hours later, after showering and doing her makeup, Carol Ferris, looking fashionable and sexy in a purple fitted dress, came downstairs, tossing a blue-purple crystal ball in her hand, and expressionlessly looked at the "scumbag" dozing on the sofa.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"I want to sleep."
"Go now, sleep well, sleep until the end of time."
"Alright, let's sleep together."
"Get lost!"
Luke spread his hands, his expression then becoming serious.
"Something is very wrong with you!"
"I'm fine. I eat well and sleep well every day. You don't need to worry."
"I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about your mind." He glanced at the blue-purple crystal in her hand and said in a serious tone, "Are you being controlled by someone?"
Carol paused, then sneered,
"I want to kill you, I don't need anyone else to control me."
Luke shook his head and snapped his fingers. A video appeared on the wall, recording the changes in Carol's face during combat. It was clear that from beginning to end, her eyes and expression never showed any other emotions, like a machine programmed to kill.
The facts were laid out, making denial impossible.
"This is very serious, more serious than you think. I don't want the Carol I know to become someone else's puppet. Tell me, who is controlling you? Who wants me dead?"
The girl lowered her head, silent.
Luke's gaze shifted, and he suddenly said, "Can I take a look at that crystal stone in your hand?"
"No!"
Carol quickly shook her head, then paused and added, "It has nothing to do with the stone."
"It seems it is it then."
Luke stood up and walked in front of the girl, looking down at her. She was inexplicably flustered.
"What are you doing? I'm telling you, don't mess around, or I won't be polite."
"'Not polite' isn't a phrase that should apply to us. After all, we're so familiar with each other."
Luke grabbed her wrist and forcefully took the crystal stone.
As soon as he touched it, the stone began to tremble violently, as if trying to break free. This force was extremely strong; Luke used both hands but couldn't control it.
"Trying to run! Not so easy."
"Carol, close your eyes and turn your head away."
The girl was startled. Seeing Luke's serious expression, she quickly turned around and squeezed her eyes shut.
Green flames seeped from his palm, enveloping the blue-purple crystal stone. The next second, the stone stopped resisting and lay obediently in his hand.
"Only a soul can control a soul. The Star Sapphire can manipulate Carol's mind, which means it's not just a simple power ring. There must be another will inside."
Luke sneered inwardly. He didn't retract the green flames; instead, he increased the output. Sure enough, after a few seconds, the stone began to tremble again, purple light swirling on its surface, seemingly resisting the erosion of the green flames.
Unfortunately, in the face of the overbearing and unreasonable green flames, its resistance was like a paper window—a slight poke and it broke.
The green flames corroded inward, and the purple glow gradually faded. Finally, with a sharp shriek echoing in his mind, the stone stopped struggling, and its surface began to melt, transforming into an elegantly designed ring. The ring's band was purple, but the crystal on it was green.
Why was it green? Shouldn't it be purple?
Luke's expression was strange, and he decided not to discuss this issue further.
Carol wondered, "I think I just heard someone calling for help."
"You misheard. Nothing of the sort happened."
Luke retracted the green flames, walked in front of her, and smiled,
"Look what this is?"
Carol opened her eyes and, seeing the exquisitely crafted crystal ring, her eyes immediately lit up.
Luke invited, "Try it on."
"Me?"
"Who else but you?"
The girl hesitated for a few seconds, unable to resist her love for the ring. She took it and slipped it onto her middle finger. The ring began to glow, and the light spread from her finger to her entire body.
Her two-thousand-dollar designer dress ripped into countless fabric pieces, replaced by a sexy, form-fitting bodysuit.
The only problem was: the color!
