Chapter 108 - Chapter 108 Barbara Gordon

A social networking platform with a daily increase of 300,000 users and an activity rate of no less than 85%, an internet newcomer that has collected tens of millions of user data—anyone who isn't a fool can see the potential of such a company.

Delicious, fresh cheese is laid out, and who wouldn't want a bite?

Luke himself knew that as ShowMe expanded, financing was inevitable; this wasn't decided by individual will, but by the general trend of society.

Of course, Luke welcomed investors; there was no reason to turn away money that was offered.

But money also depends on the person; some people's money is hard to take, and some people's money is too little. To take a bite out of ShowMe, you have to shed some blood.

"The financing matter can be delayed for now; I have my own plans. As for the data center..."

Luke glanced at him, "You're in charge!"

It's done!

Charlie was overjoyed, clenching his fists.

"Don't worry, young master, I promise you there will be no mistakes whatsoever. I will develop ShowMe into a world-class social networking platform according to your instructions."

"Don't get too excited yet. How's the artificial intelligence project coming along?"

"I've contacted Barbara, and she told me the external framework is complete, with only testing left. It should be almost ready."

Luke frowned slightly, "The stuff is with Barbara?"

"I couldn't help it."

Bringing that up made Charlie furious. "Those highly paid hackers and engineers all had their noses in the air, practically writing 'arrogant' on their faces. They wouldn't listen to a word I said, insisting on challenging you to a contest. You couldn't come back then, and if Barbara hadn't stepped in to subdue them, I don't know how it would have ended."

"So you entrusted the task I gave you to the daughter of the Gotham City police commissioner?"

Charlie: "..."

Luke shook his head speechlessly. "Where is Barbara now?"

"Commissioner Gordon's wife gave birth to a boy four days ago, so she should be at home helping out."

Linda couldn't help but ask curiously, "Who is Barbara?"

"The daughter of Gotham City's police commissioner, a computer genius, around your age."

Linda's eyes darted around, and she asked, pretending to be casual, "Is she pretty?"

"She's alright!"

Luke replied perfunctorily. As soon as he spoke, a faint chill washed over him, and he quickly corrected himself, "Not as pretty as you!"

Linda snorted and continued, "Are you going to see her this afternoon?"

"Do you want to come along?"

"No interest."

Luke shrugged. It was better if she didn't come; with such a big light bulb following him around, he wouldn't be able to do anything.

Their conversation was casual, like chitchat, but to Charlie's ears, it had an unusual undertone. Had the young master slept with the alien girl?

Thinking of this, he involuntarily shivered.

He had personally witnessed the alien girl's rebelliousness and formidable strength. There was only one woman in the world who could smash an iceberg with a few punches. If she knew about the young master's extensive and hair-raising romantic history, she would surely detonate the entire Earth.

No, he had to find an opportunity to persuade the young master. It was better to stay far away from such a human-shaped nuclear bomb... After lunch, Luke drove to Gotham City.

After some time, Gotham City had undergone significant changes.

The most noticeable were the clean and tidy streets, and the brand-new streetlights on both sides of the streets, marked with the Wayne Enterprises logo.

Passing a gift shop, Luke stopped and bought a few small gifts suitable for children, and while he was at it, he asked the owner about the recent public safety situation.

The answer he received was good. Since the last major police sweep, most of Gotham City's drug lords and gang members had been arrested, either sent to prison or thrown into Arkham Asylum for evaluation. The bad guys were gone, and city security had significantly improved.

While paying, he inadvertently saw a campaign poster on the wall. The content read: Gotham City's famous prosecutor, mayoral candidate, and city hero who vowed to fight gangs to the end—Harvey Dent—would run for Gotham City's new mayor. Below it were his personal declaration and various reform measures he promised.

Luke glanced at it a few times, then turned to the owner and said,

"What do you think of Harvey Dent? Does he have a chance to become the new mayor?"

"He will definitely become mayor. He is the future of Gotham City."

The owner patted his beer belly, very confident, and even urged Luke to vote for him. It was clear that he eagerly awaited the day Harvey Dent would become the new mayor.

Luke smiled, didn't say much, paid, and left.

Gotham is a very interesting city, and perhaps it's because of a curse, but everyone here has a hidden side. People who appear upright and kind harbor demons, while those who are ugly and fierce are constantly thinking of saving the world.

In short, Gotham's world cannot be viewed with normal eyes; one must learn to stay away from it.

Passing by City Hall Square, Harvey Dent was standing on a stage giving a speech. His powerful voice carried through the crowd from afar, and at first listen, it gave a sense of soaring fighting spirit.

It had to be admitted that this guy's eloquence was excellent. After a heartfelt speech, it was immediately followed by thunderous cheers, and some even proclaimed him Gotham City's "Bright Knight" and "Light of Hope."

"I hope you still think that way in the future."

Luke shook his head speechlessly and drove away.

The black Lamborghini drove out of the crowd, crossed two blocks, and stopped in front of a two-story house.

Luke got out of the car and knocked on the door.

Soon, the door opened, revealing a young face with messy hair and a hint of fatigue. Upon seeing Luke, she gasped and closed the door.

Luke: "..."

What does that mean? She doesn't like me?

Five minutes later, the door opened again, and Barbara Gordon reappeared, wearing a gray dress, light makeup, and neatly styled hair, looking radiant and fresh.

Luke: "..."

"Why are you here, and with so many gifts?"

"I heard you have a new brother. How could I visit without bringing gifts?"

Luke handed her the gifts, and they went into the living room together. His gaze swept over the mountain of clothes piled in the bathroom, and he immediately understood why Barbara looked so tired. Commissioner Gordon was a workaholic, and her stepmother had just given birth to a son, so the daily washing and cleaning duties fell to her.

"Do you want me to hire a nanny for you?"

"I'd like to, but Dad won't agree. He doesn't like outsiders in the house."

Barbara poured a glass of orange juice and placed it on the table, then sat next to Luke, smiling, "What do you need me for?"

"What do you think?"

"You want that thing!"

"That's a secondary goal. The main goal is..."

Luke reached out and pulled her into his arms, just about to make a move, when footsteps sounded from the stairwell. The two quickly separated as if caught in an affair.
