Chapter 2 - Prologue

Darkness has always lingered where human eyes seldom wander. In deserted alleys, forgotten ruins, and the silent corners of the night, creatures born from mankind's deepest sins stir restlessly. They are called Revenants—once human, now hollow vessels of hunger and malice, condemned to feast upon the living until nothing remains.

For centuries, a hidden war has been waged against them. Few know the names of those who fought in the shadows, fewer still lived long enough to tell their stories. These hunters bore no crowns, no banners—only scars. And when their final breath left them, their burden did not die with them. It was passed on, entrusted to another, chosen not by destiny but by chance.

Some called it a curse. Others, a salvation.

But this time, chance had chosen differently.

In a world that had grown too complacent, too blind to its hidden rot, the weight of a forgotten legacy would fall not upon reckless men chasing glory, but upon a young woman whose life had been marked by quiet insignificance.

She did not seek this fate. She did not even believe such monsters could exist. Yet the shadows had already closed in around her. And among those shadows stood one who smiled too easily, who wore the mask of kinship, yet hid the crown of something far darker.

The war had never ended. It had only been waiting—for her.
