8PM
The roar of an engine tore through the silence of Yuncheng City's night..
Wu Xiuxin drove for almost an hour after saving a child from criminals who roamed around the city.
"Hey, listen. Don't be afraid of me. I am taking you because your parents told me to."
Wu Xiuxin looked at a 7-year-old-girl who happened to be one of the criminal's targets.
The authorities nowadays are failing as the number of criminals rapidly increases, and they are blamed for not taking their job seriously.
The targets of these criminals were mostly coming from a wealthy family's child who were mostly innocent and gullible. Holding them hostage in exchange for money or what we call 'ransom.'
News spread across the city and its information was all about it. That's why a lot of people called the cops 'useless.'
Wu Xiuxin seized the opportunity to save others, knowing it would serve her own interests.
The girl's silence beside her in the passenger seat looked helpless with her bruises on her forehead. She seemed afraid as it hardly sinked in what happened to her.
"Don't worry. You're in good hands now," she added and used her other hand to pat her head gently to make sure she wasn't alone.
She looked back to the dark road, opened the window beside her and took the cigarette to light it up while driving.
At seventeen, she knew smoking was off-limits — but waiting another year felt pointless. Cigarettes were the only thing that could steady her nerves when no one was watching.
However, she allows herself to use it when no one is around. Cigarettes especially help her calm.
But before she could even light it up, a bullet struck through the side mirror of the driver seat.
"Shit," she mumbled, unable to believe those men had still managed to catch up. She had been confident all along, thinking she had left them kilometers behind.
She gritted her teeth in worry when another bullet struck the glass behind the car that shook them inside.
Both of them crouched down and covered themselves.
With no other option, she deliberately rammed the car into a tree in the dark, dense forest and immediately rushed the girl out.
The girl cried out in fear as they successfully got out to hide behind the tall tree.
"Listen, just stay here and don't come out. You got me?"
Despite the girl's fear and crying, she wanted to be saved and just nodded.
Wu Xiuxin's anger became rigid.
These guys have been testing her patience. She couldn't help but think about how they outdone her skills in driving.
She then took the gun from her holster and cocked it.
She had promised herself never to kill. Rescuing was enough. But tonight's ambush left her no choice. These men had to be taught a lesson — and her finger was already on the trigger.
"Looking for me?" She came out from the dark with a confident stance, making the men tremble vigilantly.
They couldn't manage to make a move when she showed up as they couldn't get what they wanted if they began to be aggressive. Their guns were then held high with alertness, ready to pull the trigger anytime.
There were 6 of them. One stood forward, presumably their leader and sneered, "Where is that child? Give it to us or else we will end your life in a second."
Wu Xiuxin smirked but her eyes still filled with a stoic expression, "Make me."
The leader gritted his teeth and his playful reaction gradually turned pissed.
"Get her!" The leader said and everyone rained her with bullets.
Too bad her moves were few faster than the bullets in which all of it went to waste.
She ran as fast as she could.
And when she finally made her way near them, she immediately struck one with her elbow that made him trampled in pain.
Every gun shot echoed in the night but none hit her as she moved swiftly, like a thunder bolt.
Without hesitation, she instantly pulled the trigger and killed the guy who was lying on the ground then continued to attack another before pulling another shot.
Five of them had already fallen on the ground, one of them was still fighting for his life.
She went near him, deliberately pressing her gun on his head and pulled the trigger with no remorse.
Although the guy had been deeply suffering from pain, that was her way to let him rest from struggling.
Blood spurted out his mouth and that is what she had been avoiding to see since the day she had experienced trauma.
Even her flesh is shaking inside her but the situation she has been facing doesn't want her to get away from this.
"You are a mistake."
"You should have died before you stepped into this world."
Crimson blood is making her insane.
Voices echoed inside her head as though it'd break her head in no time.
She grasped her hair and screamed uncontrollably but nothing helped her lessen the pain.
Until she heard the one last guy behind her back, pulling the trigger in annoyance.
Sounds like the gun he had been using was out of bullets.
Wu Xiuxin slowly shifted behind her back. Her eyes became cold and her presence as though she was surrounded with a dark aura.
Although he knew there's nothing he could do, he stupidly looked for a way to shoot her. But when he realized he was hopeless, he ran in fear.
Wu Xiuxin's vision became dark and ran after him. Even though he had tried to run for his life, Wu Xiuxin had been able to pull his hair to knock him on the ground and started strangling his neck violently.
The guy tried to look for a possible defense and his hand tried to reach for her face but seemed to no avail but only his stifled voice escaped on his mouth.
He was on the brink of death when his face turned purple.
She was not done as the voices kept provoking her to do something.
The voices became worse and she began to see scenarios in her mind.
"Enough! Enough! Enough!" She stood with staggered feet, screamed uncontrollably while pulling her hair.
The guy who almost died breathed, coughed hardly as soon as she stood and lost her grip, crawling for an escape.
But escaping seemed useless, when Wu Xiuxin dragged his hair and hit him in the head using her foot.
The guy couldn't even scream as his head hardly slammed on the ground.
Wu Xiuxin, who was out of control, continuously hit him without mercy.
Blood dripped from his head and mouth but she didn't stop until his face became hardly recognized.
She only stopped and came back to her senses when a loud cry broke through her frenzy. Slowly, she turned her gaze to the girl who had come out of hiding, frozen in shock and more fear.
That was when she realized that she killed all the culprits with an unconscious mind and broke the oath she had sworn.
