Prioritize the 3D transition for Zelda. We must offer players adventures they simply cannot experience on any other console."
Miyamoto nodded.
He knew all too well that Mario was only the first step in the N64's 3D journey. The platform would need a deeper library of substantial titles to truly sustain itself.
"Now, about the third-party issue." Yamauchi Hiroshi turned to Gunpei Yokoi, his gaze stern. "The current install base is a good start, but the costs and capacity limits of cartridges still exist. The Hardware Department needs to prioritize optimizing the N64's development tools. Since game development cycles have become longer, we must provide developers with convenience at the tool level. He knew that while the SGI custom chip was powerful, writing microcode was a significant challenge for many programmers accustomed to traditional development.
