Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Ceremony?

Life had been nothing but perfect. Kier had been keeping Azul's whereabouts a secret; the nameless twin did nothing but spoil and flatter Kemal. Life was perfect.

Azul was spinning in circles chasing his own tail while Kier was beside Kemal holding his hand.

The boy on the other hand was just reading a book to pass some time. More of a romance really, but they didn't need to know that. His dragon seemed extra restless today while Azul was beaming with energy.

Must be an energetic day for these magical beings..

Deciding to brush it all off as usual he felt something approaching from afar. Once he raised his head he noticed the other brother flying closer.

When he finally landed before the both, Kemal decided to put his book down, but before he could say anything he got a letter extended to him, the dragon beside him getting up to stand beside his twin.

They were both certainly a sight to behold when next to each other. Both of their wings suddenly unfurled a beautiful display of Yin and Yang while Azul pounced closer to sit beside Kemal.

"I guess you want me to read it." He pointed out but neither man answered.

Oh well..

Unfurling the letter he took a lean forth to see it better.

"You've been invited to the Alicorn prince's grand ceremony.." He murmured out loud. "As a valued ally of our country we have decided to invite you to witness this spectacle of the first ever alicorn awakening."

Raising his eye brow he fell silent as he read the rest with more focus.

We hope to see your brother and whoever you hold dearly at the ceremony at the awakening arena, we hope despite your stepping down from your crowns you still wish to attend our son's special moment with us.

CROWN!?

His eyes immediately snapped towards the two dragon men who seemed both very nervous body language wise.

One tail was wagging wildly up and down while the others wings were twitching left and right.

I guess dragons aren't ordinary creatures. I'm not surprised.

"And you're handing this to me as a confession?" He waved the letter with an attitude.

"No," Kier rejected. "To be our date." His brother continued.

Kemal's jaw dropped slightly in disbelief but nothing could prepare him for the dragons falling on their knees bowing almost to the floor.

"We beg you!" They say in unison. "We understand that this was not just a big secret to keep, but we also understand the nature of your own self."

MY OWN SELF!? WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT!?

Clearly offended, Kemal glared at them to finish their words faster.

"For such an important occasion we wish to both escort you and have you officially stand as our potential mate."

"Our? As in the both of you?" Kemal tilted his head almost in disbelief.

By now usually men start fighting and tearing at each other until only one is left standing to take the prize. If anything, those two seem to work in tandem to keep other men away.

"Officially? So you want the world to know about me?"

"YES!" Both dragons roared while flapping their wings. "We wish for the honour of the title as your potential mates and more!"

"And more!?" He gasped out.

"Perhaps, our beloved bride?"

OUR!?

Their faces had no way of hiding the obvious intent behind it.

Men are so sexy in this world.. Kneeling and begging for me to be their date? Flawless!

Kemal dismissed his thought, holding the letter up to cover the lower half of his face. Leaning aside he moved closer to Azul.

"What do you think? Should I?" At the question both the dragons snapped their heads almost instantly with threatening glares landing on the fire animal.

Not being intimidated he nodded so eager that his tongue started drooping out while nodding.

He's so simple!!!

"Ah.. It's three versus one.." Kemal sighed while extending both of his hands for the dragons to take.

The both immediately place a kiss on his palm while wagging their tails in messy unison.

"Your words would be enough to surpass our votes." They both cooed in simultaneously, almost sending Kemal's heart out of his body to kiss the heavens.

SCORE!!!

"I hope the princes will fess up afterwards about their little crowns." He contained his excitement by questioning them instead.

"Our secrets hold no weight if it comes to you." The black scaled dragon puffed through his chest while caressing his hands.

"Our next proposal will be far more elaborate than this, don't lose hope in our romantic capabilities just yet." Kier smirked, clearly satisfied with the outcome.

How can anything be more romantic than this… Groveling men are all I need.

His heart finally melted under the heat of the men and it was clear that theirs only hardened to be around him.

"When will it happen? Get me a mirror, oh and get me some food, a comb.." Kemal started to ponder already.

The dragons were obeying from A to B.

Usually I wouldn't really care…

Kemal hummed while looking at his own reflection. His hair not only grew out nicely past his ears, but the man from the water wasn't in his reflection.

Brown eyes, just like the one from the reflection…

He tapped around his face and eyes tracing his soft tanned skin. Not nearly as pale as that one!

The one almost looked like a ghost that would haunt you if you sneezed on his favourite pillow. Near his eyes he could notice faint squint lines and his eyes seemed very small as well.

The man in the water had more tired doe eyes compared to this.

I like both…

Kemal vaguely commented in his head when he suddenly saw the reflection of Kier behind him. "You could go there naked and you'd outshine them all."

"Id tear the eyes of those who would deny it since they clearly wouldn't know how to use them." Another popped out from the other side, both eyes all over Kemal's features.

"DRAMATIC!" He immediately burst out waving them both off. "You want me to go there naked?!" The boy falsely offered when the dragons suddenly nodded.

"Showing them what they're missing out on is a great way to assert yourself."

Kemal couldn't even tell which dragon said that because he would've undressed them on the spot over it.

He took a deep meditating breath to calm down.

Until marriage.. Wait until marriage… If it's not a sapphire ring filled with their tears of seeing me in my wedding dress I'll divorce them.

He took another deep look at his features when suddenly a fire wolf popped over his shoulder. "Wear a mask."

Surprised by the comment Kemal gestured for him to keep going. "Or people might steal you away from them. They can't protect you like I can, so take me with you so you don't have to wear a mask."

Kemal almost snorted when he heard that comment, in the reflection he could see Kier's tail pierce a tree while the nameless twin almost breathed fire out his nose.

Azul's voice was filled with shadows so it was clear the original Azul was not there.

Kemal couldn't help but laugh out loud a bit. Maybe it was all the flattery and attention getting to his head but a faint blush spread across his face the longer he laughed.

His laughter filled the little field they were on, using his hand to cover his mouth while trying to breathe through his nose.

A pang of warmth crashes through the dragon's hearts, almost sending them stumbling back seeing the smaller man smile and laugh so much.

It was their first time truly getting such a reaction out of him.

Once he was done pouring out his heart with each laugh he wiped off tears at the corners of his eyes.

"An Awakening?" Mikel tilted his head.

It must be one of those ascensions from games…

The blonde proudly smiled. "Well I could tell you more!"

"You really don't have to."

"YOU PISS ME OFF!" The poor man immediately snapped.

Dealing with Mikel had been nothing short of a pain. Uninterested, silent, boring, dismissive!

"Are you a corpse!?"

"Sometimes I wish I was."

The escape artist fell to his knees unable to get through this man's locks; he was in shambles.

"JUST WHAT ARE YOU!?"

"Bored."

With a loud thud the blonde punched the floor beneath him. He really couldn't tell this prisoner's next move no matter how much he tried!

"Well.. The awakening is in a few days…" He sighed out in defeat. "It's the first ever alicorn awakening, you should see it."

"You are not breaking me out." Mikel coldly commented.

"THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY AND YOU WANNA MISS IT?!" The man exploded once more.

"Yes."

The blonde grabbed the man by the collar but Mikel snatched his chin. "And once I'm out then what? Put me back? What if I get caught? What if someone checks?"

"You should just trust me, since you know I'm here for my own reason and haven't been busted once despite all the cell traveling!? Even our conversations!"

Mikel's tongue got tied. He has a point, but being right was not enough for someone who never likes being wrong.

The blonde decided to take out his final strategy. A medium haired brunette with brown eyes.. he's certain he has a lover out there!

"Well there would be a huge festival with everyone meeting for the awakening."

"Everyone?" Mikel got caught.

The other man quickly continued. "Well, yeah.. Even my camp will go to witness it even if it's in secret, you should come too."

Mikel turned his head to consider. He had been looking for so long, besides he knows whatever he's looking for must be there. If not he could always return to the old fishing shack.

"So you know how…" He mumbled.

"Yes." The blonde grinned.

There was a little white lie in there, everyone there would be of high regards not lowly peasants. But he didn't have to mention that part.

"Alright.." Mikel reluctantly agreed, finally gaining the blonde an upper hand. "Then what should I call you?"

The blonde froze. "Why?"

"If I get lost I have to know how to reach you." The prisoner explained.

"Ah! Whatever! Just call me Sun for now!" Sun smiled.

"Because of your hair?" Mikel raised his eyebrow and the man blushed.

"So you think my hair is as beautiful as the sun?" The escape artist blushed.

"I can always call you Piss."

His triumph was immediately replaced with loss. He was this close!

"If you do, I won't take you!"

"Which attire do you prefer?" A maid asked while holding a large amount of clothes with many more maids filling the large dressing room.

"I feel dizzy.. There's so much to pick from.." Mike complained while looking at the clothes.

"Well how about we start with the shoes then?" A servant popped up with many more, placing a few luxurious boots and heels.

"There's so many pretty boots!" The prince immediately praised.

"We originally wanted to go with the barefoot or heels style however we are aware of your specific preferences, we hope these managed to accommodate you?" A servant bowed and Mike was picking up a particularly beautiful yet simple pair.

"I don't mind going barefoot if it suits my clothes better, I'm not a fan of heels." With that side comment everyone immediately moved to take away all heels out of the selection.

"How about jewelry, my prince?" There weren't any here at the moment so he stopped to think.

"What would suit me?" Prince Kioshi did a small spin sending the long skirt he was wearing flowing.

"JEWLERY TO HIGHLIGHT YOUR LOWER SKIRTS OR DRESSES!" All the servants chanted in unison, almost hypnotic.

"Oh.. Okay!" Mike laughed nervously. He hadn't picked anything he'd actually use for his upper clothes, he wasn't very dramatic and fancy like his best friends.

"Perhaps some necklaces to highlight your golden eyes?" A maid chimed in holding a beautiful crafted gold necklace gently dotted with purple gems as highlights and on the side.

Once put on it managed to cover his whole chest in such an extravagant manner he couldn't help but admire it.

"It's gorgeous!" With a click he suddenly felt the maid close the necklace to properly hang off of his neck.

"Then it shall be yours."

The maids began to scatter and search for more jewels, the boots being put aside as an afterthought. "Your majesty, how about a crown?"

"YES!!!!" Mike almost burst when a large chunk of servants ran off at his excitement.

A crown! He'd love it!!

With a satisfied sigh he was given a variety of rings, bracelets , necklaces and even hair pieces.

The prince's desires weren't quite uncovered so there had been a little bit of everything in his selection.

Anything but silver. Since it was seen as something of a lower status.

"I am okay with wearing anything that's not heels, and or make up!" He beamed.

"No make up..? Not even light lipstick?"

"No." The prince gently shook his head.

While he was dressing up, Shine suddenly came through the door.

"My prince! Your eyes! At least let us help you." A maid called out pointing at his eyebags.

The unicorn only shook his head, his horn flickering dimly. "Brother.." He called out weakly stumbling towards Prince Kioshi, quickly caught by a tight embrace.

"If I may ask for some privacy?" Without even having to say it every servant and maid put down everything they were holding and began walking out in a formal line leaving the room almost empty.

"Shine?" Mike gently called out, lowering his hand to press against his brother's forehead.

"You're Burning up!!" The twin could only laugh at that remark. "Brother, did Tair come home.."

"No.. I'm sorry." Mike sighed while stroking his brother's head. "I am certain he will return to us for the ceremony."

"Brother.." Tears welled up in Shines eyes as he clutched our Prince Kioshi for a tighter embrace. "I want my little brother…" He sobbed out.

"Your little brother will come back.." Mike smiled.

"What if he ran away because of me.." The unicorn sobbed.

"Why would he run away because of you?"

Shine flinched at the question. "Because I'm a coward… I can't protect him, he tells me to not accept punishment and to use my abilities.."

"He always told me to fight back, and when we did, I failed him." His voice dropped to a whisper. "When we were fighting father, I failed my shots, and I couldn't protect him."

"What happened? Was I there?" Mike questioned his brother who timidly shook his head. "We are aware of your memory loss, you were missing by then. We thought if we beat up our parents you'd come back.."

I'd come back…

His eyes softened for the child before him, that's all they were. Children.

A pitiful display of innocence was huddled up in his arms choking on its own sobs. He's been there before, he felt pity.

"I'll handle it, I won't run anymore." Only hide.

Hide behind someone else's back.
