Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: The Hero Arrives

The big savior was here!

Spider-Man had shown up, and evil was about to get wrecked!

Despair was fading, hope reigniting.

The crowd's morale skyrocketed, as if the crisis was already over.

With a classic, badass entrance and a costume straight out of Spider-Man, the newcomer's confident words screamed strength and swagger.

Who else but a powerful hero of justice would step up to face a killer like this?

"You're the man, Spider-Man!"

"Take him down! Beat the bad guy!"

"Woo, this is my favorite episode!"

The kids' cheers were so pure and heartfelt that Barry, rocking the knockoff Spider-Man getup, felt a surge of pride from the crowd's support.

No more letting evil run wild. Jason, your time's up—go straight to hell!

Barry, with Paula tucked under one arm, swung to a clear spot, still gripping the harpoon he'd grabbed while saving her.

Landing safely, Paula's heart was racing, practically leaping out of her chest.

So intense, so thrilling—was this what it felt like to fall for someone?

She stared dreamily at the iconic Spider-Man mask, wondering what kind of handsome face was hiding underneath.

Could it be you, Peter Parker?

His strong arms gave her an overwhelming sense of safety. But, weirdly, even pressed this close, she couldn't feel any body heat.

Wait—is Spider-Man cold-blooded? Did the movies leave out that secret detail?

"So cool!" she blurted out.

Paula, in a daze, reached for Barry's mask, dying to see the face beneath.

But a hand—covered in a pale yellow suit—caught hers.

"Ma'am, Spider-Man never takes off his mask. Remember that. Now, go look after those adorable kids," Barry said, gently stopping her before letting her go and shielding her behind him.

Paula glanced back reluctantly before hurrying to the group.

Now, it was time for a one-on-one.

"Jason, get ready to meet your maker, you miserable jerk. I'm not letting you off," Barry declared.

Here at Crystal Lake, all it took was sinking Jason to the bottom of the lake to seal him away, banishing his soul to hell.

No matter how strong his revival powers were, that would end him.

Barry swung the harpoon, launching a fierce thrust that tore through the air with a sharp whistle.

Under the firelight, the bloodstained harpoon drew a red streak, aiming straight for Jason's knee.

Jason, casually raising his machete, kept walking forward without dodging.

Got him!

The harpoon hit Jason's knee, but the dramatic moment Barry expected—Jason collapsing to his knees—didn't happen.

Last time, a hit like that would've shattered Jason's kneecap, sending him crashing to the ground, followed by cheers from the crowd.

But something went wrong.

Barry's powerful strike only pierced the skin, not the bone.

Jason kept moving forward with steady steps, his brute strength bending the steel harpoon like it was nothing.

With a sharp crack, the harpoon snapped.

Jason swung his machete, the deadly blade slicing toward Barry's neck.

Barry stomped the ground, snapping twigs and using the force to leap back. At the same time, he thrust the now-headless harpoon at Jason's left side.

Clang!

Force makes miracles! Jason's heavy chop sliced through the harpoon, breaking off another chunk.

After two exchanges, Barry was left holding a stubby stick.

Clink, clank!

The sound of metal clashing rang out nonstop.

Jason kept attacking, and Barry blocked frantically.

In the end, Barry's stick was whittled down to the size of a chopstick.

"Not bad, Jason! But can you handle this?" Barry shouted.

Straw Bind!

Dropping the chopstick, Barry shot straw ropes from both hands—one wrapping Jason's legs, the other his arms.

As usual, Jason just took the hit.

Sure, he could break free with a little effort, but that split-second delay?

That was enough.

Barry launched into the air, delivering a powerful double-kick.

Wham!

Jason, a split-second too slow, took the full force of Barry's attack, flying back several feet like a kite with a cut string.

"Wow! He won! Spider-Man won!" one kid shouted, popping the champagne at halftime.

Barry pressed the advantage, aiming to knock Jason even farther away so the kids wouldn't see his more terrifying moves.

"Jason, I'm gonna teach you a lesson. Kids, don't try this at home!" Barry called out.

With that, he leaped forward, closing the gap to Jason, who was just getting up.

A quick left hook smashed into Jason's white hockey mask, leaving him dazed.

Then came a brutal right leg whip, spinning Jason like a top.

It was time to wrap this up. Barry shot straw webbing from both hands, hooking onto a tree branch. His legs kicked out in a rapid, crisscrossing flurry.

A high-skill combo unleashed, and Jason took the full brunt, crashing hard into the forest.

Now no one could see.

Barry's web-patterned suit suddenly writhed like a living thing. In the next second, thousands of slimy straw tendrils shot out in all directions.

In an instant, his agile form dissolved into countless straw strands. But in midair, the straw reshaped, spreading like growing branches, his body stretching as tall as a building.

His massive new form, woven from fluid-like straw, was intricately tangled yet cohesive, eerily similar to the Venom symbiote.

Let's just say Spider-Man 3 at the theater was worth every penny!

In the next moment, Barry's hollow body opened like a giant, toothy Venus flytrap, swallowing Jason whole. Sharp barbs were ready to strike.

Fall at my feet again, Jason!

Barry worked his newly formed body, trying to pierce Jason's flesh and drain his life force like before.

This walking battery thought he could turn the tables?

As the barbs tore through Jason's outer skin, ready to go deeper, they hit something hard—a barrier.

What was it?

To Barry's shock, it was a layer of bone.

No way! At your age, calcium supplements wouldn't even help!

Jason's body shook violently, his bones rattling with a chilling crack that echoed through the woods.

White bone covered his skin, jagged spikes sprouting from his body. An aura Barry had never sensed before radiated from him.

It was a heavy, ancient aura, and Jason seemed to resonate with the environment around him.

His eyes, hidden behind the mask, locked onto Barry, as if saying—

Ever seen a semi-truck at 3 a.m.?
