Chapter 2: A New Beginning

In the Alliance, on Planet Daylight—

Two years after Dave was born again, he started to regain his memories, but it wasn't until he was three that he recalled everything about his past life.

His new name was Manwei Bian, while his mother's name was Manwei Lan. They lived on Planet Daylight and were just a little above poor—far below average in society. Despite this, Bian enjoyed his upbringing. After all, from the little words he heard like "Sanctuary" and "Sacred-Blood Aristocrat," he was sure that he was in the world of Super Gene.

In his previous life, his favorite hobby was reading fantasy and action-packed novels, and his favorite novel had been Super Gene. So of course he was excited to finally have a chance at evolution and all the wonderful wonders of the Super Gene world.

"Mwahahahaha!" Just thinking of the future was enough to make him laugh like a mad scientist, which worried his mom.

He hadn't seen his dad since birth, and according to his mom, his father was a patrolman keeping watch on the evil Shuras to make sure they didn't come to eat humans. With no outstanding background, Bian started basic school. And damn, was he a genius or what? Theoretically, all the other kids seemed like five-year-olds compared to him.

But sadly, his practice with weapons was very poor. Especially his archery—it was off the charts in the worst way, because the arrows didn't even land on the target board. Thanks to school, though, his proficiency with weapons was able to reach a decent degree, but his accuracy was still a danger to mankind itself.

"How can this be happening?" he muttered. It seemed that, unlike Han Sen, his archery talents were pure trash. "Well, I shouldn't try to be like him," he consoled himself.

Several years passed. He learned as much as he could from school and made some good friends. His relatives, however, weren't the best of people. Even though they treated his family warmly and helped whenever money was requested, Bian always saw the disdain in their eyes whenever his mom went to visit them.

He saw his father for the first time when he was eight years old. His dad was tall and muscular, but because he always smiled, it was hard to take him seriously. He stayed with them for a year before returning to his patrols.

The next year, when Bian was ten, his mom gave birth to a girl: Manwei Ran.

One day during lunch break, Bian was chatting with a bunch of friends when a guy suspiciously approached the table. He only spoke to Bian when no one was looking.

"Hey, Bian," Tian called out to him. "I got some info on, you know, that favor you asked for." Tian looked left and right nervously.

So childish, Bian thought to himself. "Excuse me," he said out loud, leaving his friends at the cafeteria. When they reached a secluded location, Tian told him about the request he had made four years ago.

Turns out getting information on people is very hard. Bian had wanted to know more about Han Sen, but he had no way of getting that information online. The news Tian brought shocked him.

According to Tian, Han Sen was the last son of the Han family. After their father died in an accident, the eldest daughter, Han Yan, had assisted her mother and gotten very serious with her studies. That was all Tian could find, and he had only managed that because his dad worked in the media department. Tian had snuck into his father's computer and searched for information concerning Planet Roca.

"This changes a lot of things," Bian muttered, instantly realizing that his reincarnation had slightly affected the timeline—and this might cause a butterfly effect down the line.

"Thanks a lot, Tian. I owe you one," Bian said with a smile.

"Yeah, no problem," Tian responded sarcastically. For four years, Bian had pestered him for random info, and when he finally delivered, the guy didn't even react much.

Han Yan and Bian were both fifteen and turning sixteen in the same year.

"By the way, what about your name? You said it's a mouthful, right?" Tian asked.

"True," Bian responded. "From now on, call me Ken."

"Scram," Tian shot back, and then both started laughing.

After graduation, Bian exchanged contact information with all his friends. While he was busy planning his future, his mom walked into the room.

"Bian…" she paused, worry evident on her face, tears almost streaming from her eyes. "Please be safe and careful in the Sanctuaries. Don't make enemies, don't steal, and—"

"Wait, hold up," Bian cut her off. "We've talked about this several times, and I've already promised to be careful multiple times."

"That's true," she admitted, "but you still need to be careful. Not everyone will be powerless."

She continued, "Some of your peers have mastered Geno Arts, which means you'll be behind right from the beginning. Some might even have strong connections to people like the Starry Group. If you get into conflict with those kinds of people, then I'm afraid…" She trailed off, but Bian understood the gist.

Imagine a nobody offending Son of Heaven—he'd be as good as dead. Especially since what happens in the Sanctuaries stays in the Sanctuaries. Who knew how many humans had fallen by human hands inside them?

"Don't worry about me, Mom." He stood up and gave her a big hug. "I'll be just fine."

He wasn't planning on drastically changing the course of history, but since changes had already occurred—like Han Yan being the firstborn—he didn't need to hold back. Using his knowledge from the novel, he just had to be careful.

The first thing I'll need is the Super Gene, Bian thought to himself, his determination growing firmer after seeing the state of his mother.

But that's for tomorrow, when I enter the First God's Sanctuary. With nothing more to do, he hit the sack and slept peacefully throughout the night.
