Chapter 94 - Refusal

The arena vanished. Not physically. Mentally.

The deafening cheers of the Lewotla. The solemn chants of the Basotho onlookers. The clan leaders watching from high above. The thousands of spectators packed into the ancient stone tiers.

None of them existed anymore. Only two souls remained in the center of the world.

Hakuna's eyes narrowed into slits of razor focus. Mazikera stared back across the dusty sand. Expressionless. Motionless.

As though she had been carved directly into existence from absolute cold obsidian.

For the briefest instant...

Neither of them heard the world surrounding them. The thunder of shields, the screaming wind, the pulse of the crowd—all swallowed by an absolute, suffocating void.

Hakuna moved first.

Pure Nzilo aura erupted violently from his body, exploding outward with such concentrated, crushing force that the ancient stone beneath his feet fractured instantly into a massive web of spiderwebbing cracks.

Psycha's ancient voice echoed directly through the chambers of his soul, vibrating against his very marrow. "Kihimurra."

The word was not shouted into the physical air. It resonated.

Like a massive, ancestral iron lock finally turning within the core of his being.

A demon's true power was never meant to exist freely within the fragile physical realm.

Every high demon possessed a key.

A single word.

One capable of unlocking the true, uncompressed density of their ancient Daemonium.

The clearer the intent...

The simpler the phrase...

The more terrifyingly absolute the demon became.

Across the wide expanse of the ruined arena floor...

Mazikera's pale lips parted slightly.

One syllable. One impossibly simple, quiet syllable escaped her mouth. "TUMM."

The air between them died instantly.

Hakuna never questioned it. Never wondered why she had spoken. Never wondered how her power operated.

Questions belonged to another day, another time, another life.

Today...

He simply wanted her dead.

Then—The arena ceased to understand the concept of motion.

Hakuna surged forward like an apocalyptic storm escaping its natural horizon, his body blurring beyond the human eye's ability to track.

Mazikera answered not by dodging, but by simply disappearing from where she stood. Not dodging. Existing somewhere else in space.

Their fists met in the absolute center of the ring.

CRACK.

The sheer, terrifying impact folded the air inward upon itself before hurling it violently back across the arena in a visible, atmospheric shockwave.

Massive slabs of ancient stone lifted into the air. Rising dust became a blinding rain of debris. The ground beneath their boots shattered completely into fine powder...

Yet neither entity yielded a single inch of ground.

Hakuna's sweeping kick traced a silver crescent through the dusty sky.

Mazikera leaned her torso back only a mere fraction of an inch.

His heavy heel whispered past her pale cheek. She instantly answered with an open palm strike aiming directly for his throat.

He turned his body fluidly with her momentum. Capoeira blended effortlessly into Taekwondo. Taekwondo softened without pause into internal Tai Chi.

Three completely distinct martial philosophies intertwined so seamlessly in a single second that they ceased to resemble distinct styles...

They resembled raw, predatory instinct.

Mazikera welcomed them all. Every violent strike. Every deceptive feint. Every mathematically impossible angle.

She received each incoming attack...

With terrifying, flawless precision. There was no comfortable rhythm to their exchange. Only violent interruption. Only heavy collision. Only sudden, breathless silence punctuated by the explosive breaking of stone.

They moved across the arena floor as though gravity had become a mere suggestion rather than a law of physics. Landing with bone-shattering force. Launching back into the air. Colliding in mid-flight. Separating. Returning to the clash.

Like two celestial comets forever choosing the exact same point in space to collide. No clear victor. No moment of hesitation. Only absolute, terrifying inevitability.

High above the arena floor on the royal platform...

Kutlwano Sr laughed aloud.

His booming voice rolled arrogantly through the stone amphitheater. "So this is the famed Monster of the Letebele?" He spread his broad arms wide to the crowd. "Unable to overcome a simple woman?"

The arrogant words had scarcely settled into the air...

Hakuna's glowing palm was already facing directly up toward the King's platform. Condensed, blinding silver light pooled violently at his fingertips.

The arena itself trembled under the build-up of raw energy.

Before he could release the blast, Mazikera appeared directly in his line of sight.

A single, heavy fist buried itself deep into Hakuna's open abdomen.

BOOM.

The silver blast never fired. His body folded around her arm like a crushed leaf.

The Prince became a screaming streak of dark motion launched sideways across the battlefield.

Massive stone columns burst apart into clouds of dust and shrapnel as he crashed through them one after another, clearing a path of total destruction.

A heavy silence returned to the central floor.

Mazikera slowly lowered her fist, her breath completely steady.

She looked calmly toward the rising cloud of pulverized dust where he had landed. "According to basic human standards..."

Her voice carried no pride. No mockery. No emotion whatsoever. Merely dry observation. "...my current physical archetype is one that naturally invites the male gaze."

Another long pause stretched over the arena. "Yet..." Her glowing crimson eyes never left the pile of stone rubble. "You keep looking elsewhere."

She tilted her head slightly to the side. "Why?"

The quiet question drifted away into the wind unanswered.

She had never truly expected a verbal response. She already knew the psychological truth. She merely wished to hear the heavy silence that followed.

Deep within the mountain of shattered stone...

Hakuna remained completely still in the dark. Breathing. Heavy. Barely holding on to consciousness.

His bloodied fists tightened until the knuckles turned stark white. "Not her. Not her face. Not her voice. She's dead. Nolitha is dead." He thought frantically to himself.

Mazikera bore a striking, horrifying resemblance to Nolitha—the hair, the structure, the presence. It was throwing Hakuna completely off his balance, shattering his emotional defenses. His racing heartbeat thundered louder in his ears than the arena outside. Louder than the shouting crowd. Louder than reason itself.

Then—A massive beam of blinding silver energy erupted directly through the mountain of rubble.

Hakuna burst forward through the cloud. Not maneuvering around the stone. Driving directly through it.

Rock exploded violently behind him like a second sunrise breaking over the mountain.

He reached her position almost immediately. Again.

Their fists became a continuous roar of thunder. Hakuna struck with everything he possessed. Mazikera answered every blow in kind.

A brutal elbow. A flying knee. A spinning heel strike. A heavy shoulder check. An open palm thrust.

Every single collision birthed another crater-forming shockwave across the dirt.

Every shockwave carved another deep, permanent wound into the ancient arena structure.

Hakuna said nothing out loud. Not a single battle cry escaped his clenched teeth. Yet inside his mind...

He roared with unbridled fury. "Why...? How are you alive...? You killed him… You stood right there… You looked just like her… YOU KILLED HIM."

His overwhelming fury did not sharpen his martial movements. It consumed them entirely.

Every strike grew recklessly heavier. Every tactical decision became more impatient. Every defensive opening widened far larger than before.

Mazikera saw every single flaw as it formed.

She stepped smoothly inside his guard. Her rigid fist met his jaw with sickening force. The earth welcomed his falling body.

The arena floor caved inward with a deafening groan as Hakuna disappeared deep into a fresh crater. Mazikera stood directly over the edge, looking down into the darkness. "So..."

"This is the famous Vessel of Psycha..." A brief pause. "...the one who defeated Sparta." Another quiet pause. "Either Sparta was always pathetic..."

She slowly raised her right fist into the air. Dark, suffocating Daemonium condensed densely around it. "...or..." Her arm descended like a falling guillotine. "...you're deliberately hiding your true power."

CRASH.

The downward punch stopped inches before impact. Not because she had hesitated.

Because...

Hakuna was no longer in the crater.

Her sharp instincts screamed at her to throw a counter-punch directly behind her.

Hakuna caught her descending fist in his bare palm.

Not barely. Not desperately grasping.

Simply...

Caught it cleanly.

Mazikera's crimson eyes lifted up to meet his.

For the first time since the duel began, a tiny flicker of genuine uncertainty passed through her gaze.

High behind the royal railing...

Sehloho clenched his jaw until his teeth groaned under the pressure.

The Letebele King's sharp nails dug deep into his own palms, drawing tiny beads of blood. "Fight, Hakuna..."

His voice never escaped his throat.

His internal thoughts screamed into the void. "Why must such endless war exist in our lifetime..."

Across the platform floor...

Kutlwano Sr laughed loudly once more, the sound echoing harshly against the ancient rock. "The great Monster?"

He spread his arms mockingly. "He trembles helplessly before simple femininity!"

Hakuna never heard the King's taunts. His distant thoughts had wandered far away from the arena entirely.

To a man he barely remembered in his own memory. Edward. His father.

No...

Not directly remembered. Remembered through the sacred stories of his youth. Something his older siblings always repeated around the hearth. Something Edward said whenever true despair found a warrior on the path.

Hakuna frowned slightly in the dust. "...What was it..."

Mazikera moved instantly. A crimson blur of motion. Her fist screamed straight toward his face at sound-breaking speed.

Hakuna raised a single hand without looking. Stopped the punch dead in its tracks.

"...Ah." His fingers tightened like iron clamps around her slender wrist. "...That's what it was."

His dark eyes lifted up to meet hers. Calm. Absolute. Crystal clear. "A true Letebele must refuse..."

Gravity itself seemed to hold its breath across the valley.

"...to be defeated..."

Mazikera tried to yank her arm away from his grip. She couldn't budge an inch.

"...by that which is completely devoid of sentience."

Absolute silence descended upon the mountain. Then...

Hakuna spoke one final, ancient word. "Celestihimurra."

Blinding silver met deep, suffocating purple.

Light embraced absolute darkness. Psycha. Nolitha.

Two impossible, cosmic inheritances contained within one single soul. One Vessel.

The swirling aura around Hakuna ceased looking like mere spiritual energy.

It resembled...

Divine Judgement.

The earth beneath them bowed down. Gravity pulsed outward in perfect, concentric circles. Every single spectator in the stands instinctively leaned backward in pure terror.

Even the very air in the valley became impossibly heavy to breathe. Hakuna vanished from sight.

He no longer simply fought. He flowed. Every movement carried zero wasted intention. Every brutal strike arrived exactly where it belonged in space and time.

Mazikera was forced to block frantically.

Again. Again. Again.

Yet...

Something fundamental had shifted in the balance of the duel.

For the very first time...

Her solid footing shifted backward. Her breathing visibly shortened.

Her pristine expression...

Tightened. A fleeting flash of genuine frustration. Deep annoyance.

...Real effort.

She leapt backward with explosive force, landing dozens of metres away on the edge of the ring.

Her sharp crimson gaze remained locked onto Hakuna's advancing form.

Then...

She slowly raised both hands in front of her chest, forming the sacred, ancient Hakini Mudra gesture with her fingers. The entire arena grew deathly still.

There exists a mysterious, unmapped realm of extraordinary abilities that operates far beneath the mundane surface of the physical world.

These innate powers, entirely unique to each individual soul who harbors them, shape the very fabric of reality itself...

Born from the infinitely intricate, chaotic tapestry of human existence...

Each possesses a distinct name. A distinct nature. A singular, absolute purpose.

They awaken through intense passion...

Through overwhelming crisis...

Through profound personal transformation...

They evolve continuously as their wielders evolve through life.

Humanity had named them...

Talents.

One absolute truth...

Had survived every single generation of man.

Every kingdom that had ever risen. Every war ever fought. Every grand discovery made.

Talents...

Belonged exclusively...

To humans. Until this exact moment.

Mazikera's pale lips slowly curved upward.

Not into a warm smile.

Into dark, absolute certainty.

Her voice echoed throughout the silent arena, becoming almost...

Ceremonial.

"You see..."

"What I will you to see."

"You feel..."

"What I will you to feel."

Thick, suffocating Daemonium rippled outward around her frame like waves of distorted reality.

The physical arena itself seemed suddenly uncertain of what was real and what was illusion.

She slowly opened her glowing crimson eyes. "...for I..."

The entire world held its breath in absolute terror. "...am..."

"Aisthesis."

Fade out.

End of Episode 94.
