Chapter 169: The Fall of the Shark

"Hehehe... Here I come!"

Fused with Samehada, Kisame had transformed into a monstrous half-man, half-shark hybrid. Fins like sharp blades extended from his arms. With a sinister laugh, he shot through the water towards Ren with terrifying speed.

"Hmph! Susanoo!" Ren's eyes flashed. The spectral dragon head of his Susanoo materialized instantly, meeting Kisame's charge head-on.

The two forces collided in a tremendous impact. Although Kisame was physically overpowered and sent flying by the Susanoo's raw power, the construct itself flickered and dissolved immediately after the impact. In that brief moment of contact, Samehada had greedily absorbed a massive amount of Ren's chakra, making it impossible to maintain the technique.

As I thought, Ren frowned, feeling the significant drain. Any physical contact results in chakra absorption.

Kisame quickly righted himself in the water, his injuries from the collision already healed by the chakra siphoned from Ren. He was back at peak condition, showing no signs of wear. "It seems your attacks are useless. As long as you touch me, your chakra becomes my sustenance. I can feel Samehada's excitement! It has tasted delicious chakra! Within this Water Prison Shark Dance, no one is better at capturing prey than me. This technique perfectly weakens the target!" Kisame boasted, his confidence surging within his aquatic domain.

"You seem very proud of this ability," Ren replied, his voice calm despite the disadvantage. "If that's the case, I suppose I'll have to get a little more serious."

"Oh? You mean you weren't serious before?" Kisame mocked. "Then by all means, show me the power that destroyed Kumogakure!"

"You'll see." With a cold snort, Ren activated the Flying Thunder God Technique. In an instant, he vanished from inside the colossal water sphere and reappeared outside it, standing on solid ground.

From the outside, the scene was surreal—a massive, shimmering orb of water floated amidst the trees, and before it stood the solitary figure of Ren, tiny by comparison.

Ren's expression was one of intense focus. A sinister, blood-red chakra began to erupt from his body, thick with malice and overwhelming power. It was a chakra that felt ancient and bestial.

This chakra... so full of ill omen... Is it a Tailed Beast? Kisame thought, his smug grin finally fading, replaced by wariness. His unique physiology made him highly sensitive to chakra, and the energy radiating from Ren felt profoundly dangerous.

Ren's eyes underwent a drastic change. They were no longer the familiar Sharingan but had become completely blood-red, devoid of pupil or iris, burning with pure, savage energy. His canine teeth elongated into sharp fangs.

The scarlet chakra whirled around him violently, forming a spinning vortex of bloody energy that coalesced into a gigantic, demonic specter behind him. The specter loomed, its form radiating pure destruction.

Under Kisame's horrified gaze, the crimson specter lunged forward, not as a projectile of chakra, but as a tangible entity of annihilation.

The sheer pressure of this technique... I can't take it head-on! "*Water Style: Great Shark Bullet Technique!*" Kisame roared, his hands flying through seals. From within the heart of his water prison, an enormous shark, sculpted from water and infused with his chakra, took form. It was designed to bite into enemy techniques and absorb their chakra to grow even more powerful.

The water shark opened its maw wide, charging to meet the crimson specter. It began to tear and bite at the apparition, attempting to devour its energy. A flicker of hope returned to Kisame's face—his technique should be countering Ren's.

But that hope was short-lived. His expression shifted to one of confusion and then dread. "What's happening? It's absorbing the chakra, but the shark isn't growing! Unless... that thing isn't made of chakra at all?!"

Before he could finish the thought, the scarlet specter unleashed its full power. It tore through the Great Shark Bullet as if it were mere mist, its momentum unchecked, and slammed directly into Kisame.

"IMPOSSIBLE!" was all Kisame had time to scream before he was utterly consumed by the crimson explosion.

The demonic specter detonated upon impact. A shockwave of pure, destructive force erupted outwards. The massive water prison, deprived of Kisame's control and battered by the explosion, instantly collapsed. Billions of gallons of water crashed down, scouring the forest and uprooting everything in a catastrophic flood.

When the torrent finally subsided and the dust settled, the landscape was unrecognizable. The forest had been flattened, replaced by a sea of mud and debris. At the epicenter of the blast, Kisame lay broken, his fusion with Samehada broken. He had reverted to his normal form, barely clinging to life. Samehada was nowhere to be seen, swept away by the deluge.

The Monster of the Hidden Mist, the Tailless Tailed Beast, had been defeated.
