Chapter 119 - Fire

Frodo took the crystal bottle and looked at the holy light emanating from within. He felt comfortable in body and mind, and the faint mental pressure the One Ring had placed on him dissipated significantly, leaving him feeling much lighter.

Realizing this, Frodo was overjoyed, knowing that the light of eärendil was an excellent item.

"Thank you, Luke!" Frodo didn't stand on ceremony with Luke. He carefully placed the light of eärendil into his spatial pouch, right next to the box containing the One Ring.

In this way, the seductive power of the One Ring was suppressed further.

As long as no one came into close contact with the One Ring, it would at least not affect those nearby for a short time.

But Luke did more than just that to ensure the One Ring couldn't cause trouble.

He took out a bottle containing a dark green liquid and instructed Frodo: "Take out the box holding the One Ring, then pour the liquid from this bottle inside, letting the One Ring soak in it. Be careful not to touch the liquid!"

Frodo was a little confused, but obediently took out the box containing the One Ring and opened it.

The next second, the One Ring, no longer contained by the box, emitted a powerful temptation, attempting to confuse and influence the people around it.

But Luke and Gandalf were prepared. Luke's Occlumency operated at full power, making the One Ring's temptation ineffective against him for a short period.

Gandalf, relying on his powerful spirit and will, resisted the One Ring's seductive power.

As for Frodo, thanks to his hobbit nature, the One Ring's influence on him was minimal.

So no matter how the One Ring tempted them, the three people present remained unmoved.

Luke handed the bottle to Frodo. Frodo took the bottle and immediately poured the dark green liquid inside into the box.

The liquid was slightly viscous and gave off a faint, pungent, fishy smell, causing Frodo, who was closest, to wrinkle his nose.

But to Frodo's surprise, after the liquid was poured into the box, submerging the One Ring, the seductive power emanating from the Ring suddenly vanished, and the dark green liquid reacted violently, beginning to boil.

It was like dropping a piece of red-hot metal into water.

"Alright, Frodo, close the box," Luke urged.

Frodo quickly sealed the box, locking the boiling liquid inside.

Miraculously, the closed box was perfectly sealed, and there was no sign of the liquid leaking out.

"Luke, what was that liquid? It actually made the One Ring's seductive power disappear!" Frodo asked, astonished.

Luke smiled and explained: "That is basilisk venom. It possesses the strongest toxicity and destructive properties. Although it cannot destroy the One Ring, soaking the Ring in basilisk venom can restrain the One Ring's Dark power to the maximum extent, preventing it from tempting and amplifying the desires and darkness in the hearts of those nearby. You could consider it a form of fighting poison with poison."

Hearing Luke's explanation, Frodo was delighted: "Does that mean as long as the One Ring is soaking in the venom, I won't have to worry about being corrupted by it anymore?"

Luke shook his head: "I'm afraid I have to disappoint you, Frodo. Although basilisk venom can suppress the power emanating from the One Ring, it's like dropping a red-hot iron block into cold water. If it were an ordinary iron block, it would quickly be cooled by the cold water.

But the problem is that the One Ring is not ordinary metal; it contains powerful, almost inexhaustible power. It can continuously emit heat without cooling, and instead, it will boil the cold water, perhaps even evaporating it completely!"

"Therefore, after some time, the basilisk venom in the box will completely lose its toxicity, and then it will no longer be able to suppress the One Ring's power.

Of course, don't be discouraged. Before you venture to Mordor, I will prepare more basilisk venom for you. Remember to regularly replace the venom in the One Ring's box, which will minimize the Ring's influence as much as possible."

"I appreciate the trouble, Luke!" Frodo naturally wouldn't refuse Luke's help. After all, although his resistance to the One Ring was strong, he wasn't completely immune.

Carrying the One Ring for a long time placed immense stress on his mind and body; being able to ease that burden was naturally the best outcome!

"Oh, right, take this too!" Luke seemed to remember something and pulled out a small crystal bottle, handing it to him.

Frodo looked at the crystal clear liquid in the small transparent bottle, curiosity showing on his face: "What is this?

"

"These are Phoenix Tears. They can heal many injuries and poisons. For example, only Phoenix Tears can completely detoxify basilisk venom, as well as many Dark Arts injuries. If you are stabbed by a Ringwraiths' morgul blade, as long as you have a breath left, these can save your life."

Luke introduced them, then sighed: "Although I'm giving them to you just in case, I still hope you never have to use them!"

Phoenix Tears? Aren't those Luke's tears?

Frodo realized this and was greatly astonished. Looking at the crystal clear liquid in the bottle, he never expected Luke's tears to possess such miraculous healing power—it was truly incredible!

Gandalf also smiled and said to Frodo: "You are very lucky. These Phoenix Tears are a life-saving panacea. Just one drop can bring you back to life, even if you already have one foot in Mandos' halls. They are infinitely better than any other healing medicine in the world!"

After handing over the items, the three of them did not stay in the Room of Requirement any longer and left the room.

Watching the door of the Room of Requirement close and vanish from the wall.

Frodo was once again amazed by the wonders of magic.

At the same time, he was somewhat curious. Many people came and went in the castle every day; didn't Luke worry that someone might accidentally wander into that hidden room?

After all, he had just seen that the room contained many collected items, none of which looked ordinary.

Gandalf even said in a teasing tone that the value of every single item in that room was immeasurable, far more precious than all the treasures in the underground Dragon Treasury.

Frodo had never seen how much treasure was in the Dragon Treasury, but he believed it was definitely a huge fortune, because Uncle Bilbo had once said that his wealth was incomparable to Luke's.

Frodo inherited Uncle Bilbo's property and knew how enormous Uncle Bilbo's wealth was. The value of the Mithril Mail he was currently wearing was enough to buy the entire Shire, not to mention the mountain of gold-like wealth.

Yet, according to Uncle Bilbo, this wealth was completely incomparable to Luke's fortune, like the difference between clouds and mud.

Frodo could not imagine how vast Luke's wealth was, but he had heard from Hogwarts students about Dragon Smaug and the treasury he guarded.

It was said that Dragon Smaug's body was thousands of feet long, taller and larger than most of the castle's buildings, and the amount of treasure in the Hogwarts Treasury was enough to completely submerge Dragon Smaug's body.

Not to mention that Luke was also rumored to possess a gem that could turn stone into gold, continuously creating gold.

With so many treasures all stored in that Room of Requirement, wasn't he afraid of them being stolen?

Frodo harbored these questions, but ultimately chose not to ask.

Luke naturally didn't know Frodo's thoughts, but if he knew Frodo was worried about the Room of Requirement's security, he would only chuckle and shake his head.

The Room of Requirement was a safe house he had spent more than ten years building. Although lucky students or Professors might occasionally discover and enter the Room of Requirement.

But trying to find and enter the specific room where Luke's treasures were stored—apart from Luke and those he permitted—no one else could enter.

It could be said that it was Luke's private Chamber of Secrets, directly bound to his soul. Even with the correct password and method of entry, no one could get in without Luke's permission.

Having temporarily resolved the hidden danger of the One Ring, Frodo went to meet up with his fellow hobbits.

Meanwhile, Luke and Gandalf began preparing to travel to Rivendell for the council.

After arranging affairs of the castle and the school, Luke, Gandalf, Frodo, and three companions—Bilbo, Legolas, and others—gathered in Luke's private tower.

Bilbo, the former bearer of the one ring, needed to attend the meeting together.

Legolas also represented the Woodland Realm, traveling to Rivendell for the meeting convened by Elrond.

Because the presence of the one ring could cause accidents in transportation via the floo network, Apparition, and Portkey, and even though its influence has been minimized under the light of eärendil and the suppression of Basilisk venom, caution was still needed.

Nevertheless, to avoid that one-in-ten-thousand chance, Luke transformed into a Phoenix and carried Frodo to Rivendell.

As for the others, they simply used the fireplace to go directly to Rivendell.

In Rivendell, the scenery remained unchanged, the mountain flowers in full bloom, as if time had never eroded it, forever preserving its original beauty.

Decades, to the eyes of the ageless elves, are but a fleeting instant, with no sense of time's passage.

On the white plaza leading to the final home, a flame materialized out of nowhere.

The sudden movement immediately alerted the elven guards, who stared warily at the flame, assuming defensive stances.

But when a magnificent Phoenix emerged from the flame, the elven guards instantly relaxed, their sharp gazes softening.

The Phoenix grasped Frodo's shoulder, landed on the white plaza, hovered over Rivendell, emitting a melodious call imbued with a strange magic that stirred courage and hope in all who heard it.

Elves in Rivendell who heard the Phoenix's song couldn't help but look up, their eyes turning toward the glorious, divine figure in the sky.

In the palace of the final home, Elrond was writing something; upon hearing the sound, he looked up toward the window and smiled.

A refined male elf, drawn by the Phoenix's song, arrived at the white plaza.

He looked up at the circling Phoenix, smiling, clapping, and said familiarly, "The Phoenix's song is so wonderfully beautiful that even the finest music cannot compare. Luke, my friend, you have truly given us a surprise."

The Phoenix swiftly landed, taking human form, its bright smile and friendly demeanor approaching the male elf for an embrace.

"Lindir, long time no see!"

As Elrond's trusted secretary Lin, Luke had a good relationship with him.

After Lin and Luke embraced, Lin turned to the halfling Luke had brought, asking with elegant curiosity, "Luke, who is this guest?"

"He is Bilbo's nephew—Frodo Baggins. He bears a heavy responsibility; the very topic of this meeting centers on him—" Luke's voice lowered as he spoke the latter part, hinting at something.

As Elrond's secretary, Lin naturally knew many secrets; upon hearing Luke's hint, he immediately realized the one ring was on Frodo.

His pupils contracted, and his body instinctively began to recoil.

Regarding the legendary one ring, Lin had heard many rumors about its danger and wished to keep a wide berth.

Nevertheless, he forced himself to suppress the urge to retreat, mustering a friendly smile: "Welcome, Mr. Frodo Baggins."

Yet he subtly kept a certain distance from Frodo.

Luke then introduced Frodo: "Frodo, this is Lin, the lord of Rivendell, Lord Elrond's trusted secretary, and the secretary of my father‑in‑law."

"Hello, Secretary Lin!" Frodo called out, a bit hesitant.

At that moment, the public fireplace beside the white plaza blazed with green flames, and Gandalf, Bilbo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Legolas, Elses, and Elros emerged one after another.

"Uncle Lin!" Elses and Elros's eyes lit up the instant they saw Lin, and they ran over joyfully.

Lin saw the siblings, and a gentle, affectionate look unintentionally appeared in his eyes.

"Elses, Elros, why did you both come as well?"

"They knew I was heading to Rivendell and kept insisting on coming, saying they missed you." Luke explained with a smile.

Elses and Elros, this brother‑sister pair, were not only the darlings of Hogwarts, beloved by students and Professors, but also cherished in Rivendell, adored by their grandfather Elrond, two uncles, Lin, and many other elves—truly receiving all the love they could wish for.

Moreover, being half‑elves due to their half‑human blood, they lack the aloofness of pure elves, instead brimming with vitality and emotion, like two warm, radiant little suns.

These distinctive little elves were loved by their kin; their abundant emotions could infect those around them, causing involuntary smiles.

Elros, more lively than her brother Elses, immediately hugged Lin and cooed, "Uncle Lin, I missed you! Have you missed Elros?"

Lin's smile became exceptionally gentle, his demeanor softening as he crouched to meet Elros's gaze, laughing lightly, "Who could not think of our little princess? I have some 'Miruwo' brewed from the first spring blossoms' honey; shall I let Elros and Elses taste it later?"

Elros's eyes lit up instantly, nodding repeatedly, "Great! Thank you, Uncle Lin!"

Even the usually steady Elses showed a gleam of joy in his eyes.

Miruwo is a type of ambrosial wine crafted by the Noldor elves of Rivendell; they gather nectar from the garden's blossoms and, using a unique brewing method, produce a warm, fragrant, sweet‑tasting drink that quickly dispels fatigue and restores vigor.

Both Elses and Elros love this ambrosia; each year during their holidays in Rivendell, they enjoy the sweet nectar.
