Chapter 20 - Flight Through Fire

The wind screamed past Elior's ears as he climbed into the night sky. His new wings, forged of flame and shadow, cut through the darkness like burning banners. Each beat sent waves of heat spiraling below, scattering sparks across the ruined fields.

But the Silver Order did not relent.

The Pursuit

From the ground, clerics raised their staves. Arcs of silver light shot upward, forming nets of radiant energy. Crossbows enchanted with holy glyphs fired bolts that homed toward him, streaking like comets.

Wings of Convergence – Passive Evasion Active

Elior twisted midair, his body flowing like liquid flame. Bolts hissed past his shoulders. One clipped his side—searing a line across his ribs.

He snarled, pain mingling with exhilaration.

"So this is the hunt you wanted…"

---

Counterstrike

His claws glowed as he gathered heat. With a violent sweep of his arm, he unleashed a crimson arc across the battlefield below.

> [Bloodfire Slash – Activated]

The ground erupted in an inferno, torchlight drowned by the storm of scarlet flame. Knights screamed as the blaze swallowed their ranks, their formations breaking. Yet still, the horns blared. The Order pressed forward, chanting louder, their faith a shield stronger than steel.

Elior's gaze snapped toward the edge of the army. A beast of war—a towering silver-armored stallion—snorted flame, its hooves glowing with runes as it thundered forward, riderless after its knight's fall.

Predator's Decision

A grin spread across Elior's face, sharp and hungry.

"A mount worthy of me…"

He folded his wings, diving straight through the storm of bolts. Silver fire slashed across his back as arrows pierced his cloak, but he didn't falter. His claws extended, his teeth bared, his wings igniting brighter than ever.

The Rune-Touched Warhorse reared back, eyes glowing like twin moons, as Elior descended upon it like a crimson comet.
