Chapter 45: The One-Point Miracle
Inside the Throne of the Ash-King, the air was thick with the stench of failure. Ryker, the newly minted Diamond-rank leader, unleashed his ultimate skill, Heaven's Judgment. A pillar of golden light shook the cavern, yet when the smoke cleared, the Soul-Eater Malakor stood unscathed. Its health bar remained a solid, mocking block of red.
"Impossible!" Ryker gasped. "It's an Immortal-Type!"
Damon, standing in the back with his hands in his pockets, grew weary of the performance. Under the cover of the dust, he flicked a finger, activating [Void Erosion]. In a microscopic flash, the Boss's health was deleted, leaving it with exactly 1 HP.
"Now!" Ryker screamed, sensing a sudden shift. He threw a desperate, low-level mana-bolt.
1 Damage.
The massive Boss crumbled into ash.
"Did you see that?!" Kargan roared. "Ryker's final strike pulverized its soul! We took down an S-rank Boss in a single go!"
The exit was a blur of self-congratulation. Outside, as the carriers received their pittance, Damon exchanged his "lucky finds" for a fortune that left the receptionist trembling. "A Supreme Core? Sir, an Epsilon cannot—"
"Why do you care?" Ryker snapped, leaning over the counter with Diamond-rank pressure to save face. "I gave them to him. Process it."
As Damon walked away, a thin, silver thread of mana attached itself to his Player Card. High in the Guild Tower, the Highest-Ranking Player on Earth, the "World-Sovereign" Arthur, had been watching. He placed a high-tier tracking spell on Damon, curious about the "glitch." Damon felt the cold sting of the spell immediately. He didn't break it. He simply smiled—a predator allowing a bird to think it had found a worm.
