I tried not to be disappointed as I heard my uncle and aunt talk about myself. As expected, they never even bothered to remember my real name… or likely ever paid attention enough to know it.
'What was I expecting from these people anyway? They threw me away as soon as they could and raised me for their own benefit. I should not even be feeling bad about all this.'
I told myself as consolation, but my heart still ached.
No matter how much I tried to tell myself not to get affected by these people, in the end, they were my family and even I had a small hope that these people had really repented for their action.
"A-Anyway, Ace-! It's not like we wanted to abandon you. And about your name… does that really matter? What matters is that we had you in our hearts all this time. You are precious to us."
My aunt told me with a stutter in her voice. She sounded desperate to have me believe her at all costs.
