Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 – Shadows and Suspicions

The sky was heavy and gray that afternoon at Aurora High School. A light rain fell, making the hallways slippery and the courtyard trees sag under the weight of the water. Claws and Matheus arrived at an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city, hidden among old storage buildings. The place reeked of metal and oil, typical of discreet meetings that no one wanted to witness.

In the center of the warehouse, Claws' grandfather, Antônio, was negotiating with local gang leaders. His gaze was cold, calculating, yet carried a natural authority that made any confrontation seem pointless.

"Remember," Antônio said, his voice firm and deep, "each territory needs to be clean and efficient. No childish mistake can compromise everything we've built."

One of the leaders tried to contradict a decision but immediately backed down under the grandfather's stern gaze. Claws watched every gesture, every word. The sense of danger was palpable: Antônio was not just a businessman or gang leader; he was capable of controlling lives and destinies without hesitation. Claws felt a shiver run down his spine. Was his grandfather involved in the recent deaths? Or was he merely manipulating the environment to test his grandson?

Meanwhile, in the abandoned school warehouse, Rafa, Isa, and Lucas hid among boxes, observing suspicious movements. Marta walked calmly, with Bruno beside her, both seemingly checking the details of the location. Rafa's brother appeared suddenly from the shadows, silent, and began talking casually with the group, but his words carried information that no one else could possibly know.

"He knows too much," Rafa whispered, frowning. "And every word seems… calculated."

"Marta is suspicious too," Isa said, watching the student's gestures. "She always shows up in the right places and never properly explains her actions."

Lucas just nodded.

"And her brother… every detail he mentions about gangs and accidents seems designed to confuse or test us."

The group continued observing, noticing small inconsistencies in Marta's and Rafa's brother's words and gestures, but still uncertain about anything. Every move they made seemed strategic, like pieces on a chessboard that no one else could fully see.

Later, the group decided to meet in the city square to drink and discuss their recent discoveries. The night was cold and damp, and the distant sound of rain hitting the trees added a somber mood to the gathering. Rafa's brother joined them, maintaining a calm posture and watching the group as if he were merely participating casually in the conversation. Claws and Matheus remained silent, reflecting on their grandfather's authority and power, and on the growing feeling that everything was connected in a way far bigger than they had imagined.

"Every move we make seems monitored," Lucas commented, looking down the nearby street, where a black car passed slowly, almost unnoticed. "Someone knows every step we take."

"And the worst part," Isa added, "is that we still don't know who's really behind all of this. But I know each suspect has something to hide: the grandfather, Marta, and… Rafa's brother."

Rafa remained silent, watching her brother from afar. Her heart raced, mixing fear and confusion. Every gesture of his seemed normal, but her mind couldn't ignore the subtle signs that something was wrong.

Claws took a deep breath, feeling the tension rise. He knew he was surrounded by pieces that could move at any moment, manipulating events and lives. Every clue was vital, and every suspect represented a potential threat.

"We need to protect ourselves and keep our eyes open," Claws finally said, breaking the silence. "The black car, the gangs, the accidents… everything indicates we're in the middle of a much bigger game."

As they spoke, Rafa's brother kept his distance, silent, calculating his moves and observing the group. Marta, near Bruno, continued to act enigmatically, leaving the group divided about her true intentions. And Claws' grandfather, though not physically present, still influenced his grandson's decisions, showing that his power extended in every direction.

The black car passed by the nearby street again, reminding everyone that danger lurked, ready to act at any moment. The group exchanged serious glances, aware that the situation demanded utmost attention.

"We have to gather all the information," Isa said, looking at Rafa and Lucas. "Every word, every move… if we're careful, we'll figure out who's really manipulating everything."

Rafa nodded, but her mind remained full of doubts about her brother. She wanted to trust him, but the facts were disturbing. Every clue, every suspicious behavior, pointed to something she still couldn't fully accept.

Claws, observing everything, realized that the next steps would be crucial. The tension between suspicions and hidden truths was growing, and any mistake could be fatal. The group was on the verge of discovering something important, but no one knew exactly what the next move would bring.

And so, as the rain fell over the city, the black car disappeared into the darkness. But the presence of danger had not gone; it had only become quieter, more intense. The group knew they were about to enter a territory where every misstep could cost dearly, and that the truth about the murders was closer than they had ever imagined.
