Chapter 1 - Shity World

I was teleported to another world. On the first day, I felt very confused but also very excited—I mean, who wouldn't? I had always dreamed of this. But, unfortunately, harsh reality hit me. The thing I realized when I was thrown into this world was... I didn't have any cheats. No game display, no system, no skills. Nothing. I didn't have any of those things. And you know what else I realized in this world? This damn world... is a low-fantasy world. A world closer to reality than fantasy.

Of course, there are many things I consider "fantasy" in this world. These include monsters such as goblins, kobolds, and things like that. But there is no magic in this world, hmm... let me rephrase that. At least until now, after being in this world for 3 months, I have never seen or heard of anything related to magic. When I asked people, the answers I got were superstition, fairy tales, and things like that. When I asked about monsters, they answered in quite detail, you know. Like where goblins live, how to escape or avoid kobold scent, and things like that. However, when I asked about magic, the only answer I got was fairy tales.

My first days in this damn world were truly difficult. When I realized that I didn't have any cheats or anything special, I immediately looked around, trying to find clues or other humans. Of course, I didn't find anyone in the middle of the forest. And for three days, I ran blindly until I finally found a village after following what looked like tracks in the wilderness.

After I found the village, I realized once again that this world was truly awful. Without any "fantasy," this world was just like medieval Europe. There were no lights, no TV, no cell phones, no internet. People did physical labor before the sun came up and then went to sleep when the sun went down.

My first few days in the village were quite tense. They did help me when I managed to get out of the forest. But I could tell by looking around that this village barely had any food to give away for free to a stranger like me.

I always feel nervous when I think about when they will kick me out, but luckily they haven't done that. Now I am accepted by the villagers, they even built a small hut for me at the edge of the village. That doesn't mean life in this era is easy, my first days were full of difficulties. I come from the modern world, of course I don't know how to farm, weave, or herd goats and cows. But little by little, with guidance from the villagers (I was really afraid they would kick me out when they saw how useless I was LOL), I was finally able to do many things.

My daily routine is to wake up before sunrise (around 4:00 AM, maybe), tidy up my little hut, and then go to the river to fetch water. I used the water I collected for various kitchen and other needs. After that, I helped the villagers who needed assistance. During harvest season, I helped farmer Jon harvest rice, and in return, he gave me a small portion of his harvest (which was more than enough for me to eat), and on normal days, I helped Miss Ina make bread. If the villagers didn't need my help, I would go to the forest to collect firewood that I could use for cooking and share with other villagers, especially Grandma Steph, because she was old and her children and grandchildren were busy taking care of their cows. So I spend a lot of time taking care of her. She is a kind and gentle elder who gives advice as well as interesting stories (I get a lot of superstitions and fairy tales from her). I really do everything I can, but even now, three months after I moved to this village, I still feel overwhelmed by the amount of physical work that needs to be done.

"Hoaamm."

I yawned as I got out of bed, then immediately dipped my hands into the bowl of water I had prepared the night before to wash my face and rinse my mouth.

"Ahhhh, fyuh, refreshing as always."

After finishing and feeling refreshed and awake, I then left my hut—ahem, I mean my house.

"Looking back, I've really become one with the slow, relaxed life in this village. Even so, I still really miss watching po-."

Before I could finish my silly sentence, I forced myself to stop and immediately grabbed the basin and walked towards the river.

"Well well, another busy day."

The river was located in the eastern part of the village, about 1-2 km away. Imagine... every morning I walked back and forth carrying a basin full of water. What a rotten world.

The road to the river was easy to remember, as most of the villagers took this route to fetch water as well. Sometimes I would meet some of them on the way or at the river.

"Looks like no one is at the river yet, okay, let's take the first basin and deliver it. Ugh, it's still as heavy as usual."

On the way home, I met some villagers, most of whom were between 13 and 19 years old. While they were fetching water, their parents were getting ready to work in the fields or tend to the livestock. Huh, what a busy daily routine.

"Phew, finally done. Now it's time for breakfast."

I then took some stale bread (it had been sitting around for a few days), dipped it in water I had just heated up, and crushed it.

"The bread porridge is ready. After eating, I have to help Miss Ina make bread and then accompany Henrik (Farmer Jon's son) to herd the goats."

"I'm really tired of eating food like this. Sometimes, if Jonathan the hunter manages to get some meat, my meals taste a little better. Or when there's a harvest festival or other celebrations. It's quite sad when I remember how luxurious my meals were in my previous life compared to now."

Ending my longing for home, I then wet (more accurately, drenched) my body with water, put on my clothes, and then walked to Miss Ina's house to help her make bread.
