Chapter 1 - 1. Zean's Life

Zean, he is a young man in his twenties, has a face that is quite handsome when compared to some men who are the same age as him, besides having a face that is quite handsome, even he also has a greater amount of wealth when compared to everyone in Indonesia, actually it is not him who is rich, but his parents are currently one of the ten richest people in Indonesia.

Being the son of the richest person also allows him to enjoy all the luxurious facilities and privileges that not everyone can get.

Since childhood, Zean has been accustomed to luxury, occupying a penthouse apartment with a stunning view, having a collection of various types of cars from classics to the most expensive sports cars, having a credit card with a seemingly limitless limit, which allows him to buy whatever he wants, perhaps including buying other people's happiness.

These are just some of the riches he can enjoy because he happens to be the son of the richest man in the world. It seems absurd and like an urban fiction story, but that's the life of Zean, who is also the only son of one of the richest men in the country.

"Aaaah... so boring." Zean threw his virtual RPG goggles onto the bed.

Although almost all material things can be obtained, there is one thing that he currently does not have, namely family relationships and friends who can always be there for him.

Well, that's the thing he doesn't have for now, Zean's parents are always busy with their respective affairs, whether it's business or social affairs, because the busyness of his parents also makes Zean's small family rarely get together, in the sense of gathering like a family that really has warmth and harmony.

Unfortunately Zean did not feel the presence of those two things in his family, because even if every day he met his parents at the dinner table every morning and also every night, it was just a daily routine that he always did, there was no warm chat as a family while at the dinner table, even after that his parents would immediately go back to their respective affairs, never taking a moment to bond together in the family room.

That's what made Zean's life bland and boring even though he had all kinds of wealth, he felt like a robot that had been systemised with the same routine cycle every day.

Was he lacking gratitude? Zean was clearly grateful for the material wealth he enjoyed, but he also hoped to have warm and harmonious family relationships.

His friendships were not much different from his family relationships. He didn't have any truly close friends who could become true friends. All of his friends were merely casual acquaintances. Some even approached Zean for friendship because of his wealth, hiding their true intentions behind a fake, friendly smile.

That's why Zean's life felt incomplete and boring, and sometimes, after graduating from college, he spent more time playing games to relieve his boredom.

"Should I try another game while I wait for the update to finish?" Zean asked, washing his face at the sink.

As usual, he would always play virtual games whenever he could, but unfortunately, the game he usually played was undergoing an upgrade, making it impossible for him to play it right now. He was now torn between waiting for the game to finish upgrading or finding another virtual game.

Zean walked over to his desk and turned on his computer. He planned to find a virtual game he could play, something to pass the time while waiting for his usual game to finish upgrading.

Ting!

A message notification suddenly sounded on his phone, and Zean looked slightly surprised when he read the message.

It was a message from the developers of Elysian Forge Online, or EFO, a game he usually played. The message was a notification to all EFO virtual players that the upgrade had been completed.

That was what surprised Zean a little, because he clearly remembered that the upgrade would take three days, but it had only been one day since the upgrade notification, so there should still be two more days until the upgrade was complete.

Zean had also confirmed that the message was from the game developers, not a fictitious number with no business.

"Didn't they say three days?"

Now Zean tried to log into the online forum for the virtual game EFO using his computer, a forum typically used by EFO players to exchange information.

Zean's goal in opening the player forum was to check if the message he received had also reached other players, as new information typically fills the EFO forums with activity.

In addition to finding out why the upgrade was accelerated, Zean also wanted to find out if there was any new information after the upgrade, whether about quests, maps, or items. Certain players often leak information on online forums. Even if there wasn't any new information, Zean would check out the speculative discussions among players.

"It's unusual for it to be so quiet, usually it'll get busy soon!"

Zean frowned when he saw the chat and information fields were still empty. This was clearly unusual, as players would usually flood the forums as soon as there was an announcement or new information from the developers. But this time, the forums were completely deserted, with not a single player sending a message.

Wasting no more time, Zean immediately placed both hands on the keyboard, taking the initiative to send the first message on the forums.

"Have any of you seen the latest upgrade notification from EFO? I just received it. Why was the upgrade pushed forward? I've checked the official website and social media, but I haven't found any information on why the upgrade was suddenly completed ahead of schedule."

It was quite a long message Zean sent, but after waiting for about five minutes, no one had responded. This made Zean feel both strange and puzzled. Usually, every time he sent a message, even just a few seconds after sending it, another player would respond. But right now, the forums were dead, with no players appearing.

"I'd better check it out myself. Maybe other players jumped into the game after receiving the notification. That's probably why the forums are so quiet."

Laying down on his bed and putting on his virtual glasses, Zean logged into the EFO virtual game using his usual main account. As usual, a white light streak appeared as soon as Zean entered the game.
