For the past few days, all I have been doing is to attend class and then observe the anomaly named William Delimore.
He is really a strange guy.
Who would have thought that the same boy who curses people on the drop of a hat and someone who disrespects even the Headmaster was actually a kind person who serves the church and even takes care of the children from orphanages?
And the strange part, he hides his face when he does that...as if someone forces him to hide his kind side...his true side.
'Is it actually a curse after all?' I asked myself as I looked at the pattern I made on the paper.
That night, when he touched me, I saw it.
A pattern above his head. Darkness like void. Coiling around him viciously.
That night, I got curious what was it? I have never seen anything like that, that's why since then I have been researching; going through every book and notes I brought along.
"Phahaha!" A laughter broke my focus as I looked at the sight which was making everyone amused.
After lunch, we were called to the gym for practical lessons.
Everyone was told to show their progress in their magical field.
I had already given my assessment, showing them only what they deserved to know about me.
And the one who was currently standing in the middle of the arena and everyone's laughter was William.
Psychokineisis is one of strongest skills in any spell book...yet all he was able to do was to lift a few stones and he was already breathless.
Everyone was snickering at him saying how such a loud mouth doesn't suit such a talentless person.
It wasn't like he was pretending. I have seen him train, for hours.
He tries hard...maybe harder than anyone.
Yet his skill doesn't show any sign of growing at all.
And that makes my suspicion more concrete.
Someone has cast a curse on him.
"Hmph! I am hiding my strength for the day when your weak asses would be in danger." He spoke a few words which I knew he never meant before walking away.
"Emma," just then, I heard a familiar voice from the left.
I sighed, "Yes, Kevin." There stood the protagonist, hesitant and blushing slightly.
It wasn't like I hated him or anything...it's just his personality and his hunger for having so many women by his side. It's annoying in my eyes.
"I was thinking if you would like to go shopping with m-um, us. Lizzy and others are coming as well."
Without a moment of thought, I shook my head, "No, I have something to do."
His shoulders slumped, "You ..have been pretty busy lately."
My brows elevated, "Hmm? Is that so?"
He looked up and said, "I mean, you are always eager to return to your room after school ends."
I mean, I have to see William train.
"You don't even come to eat dinner with us anymore."
William eats his food in the garden.
"And now, you don't even sit with us anymore in the class."
Well, you guys sit in the front. I have no angle to look at William from there.
With an exasperated sigh, he said, "It's almost like you are avoiding us...avoiding me."
He was frustrated. Well, how desperate he always appears around me, I have long realized that he has feelings for me.
Even though my personality far from what the original main heroine should have, he still fell for me.
The difference was, he fell first...but I have no plan on reciprocating his feelings.
That's why, "I think I have found someone I am interested in."
"...!" His eyes widened, his face grew pale upon hearing my words.
Did I create a misunderstanding? I mean, I am interested in William, but I am unsure whether these feelings can be recognized as love.
Oh, I may be obsessed with him though.
"Kevin...are we leaving?" Soon, Natalie arrived by his side, and tugged his sleeve.
I nodded at her, "Yes, he is. See you later." Saying so, I walked away.
William had already left and I know where he must have gone to.
....
"Ah, kitty!" He beamed upon seeing me.
Have I mentioned that his smile is precious?
I jumped at him and he comfortably collected me in his arms.
As I got close to him, I felt it.
The accursed energy revolving around him as if coiled around him.
It was such a grim sight, seeing the spiral of red blood chains binding to him.
They were weighing down on him, yet he kept smiling.
My heart ached...
"I have brought some jerky for you. Do you want to eat it?" He asked with a tilt of his head.
I wanted to say no...but those eyes.
He put me on the bench and took out the jerky before resting it before me.
...I had to eat it.
"Good kitty," he started scratching my head.
Well, it doesn't taste that bad now. Nom-nom.
"Haa...you might not see me here from tomorrow, kitty." He suddenly sighed, startling me.
I looked up...his eyes were unfocused, a sad smile on his face.
I hated it.
"I have to do something really awful tonight...and maybe they might kick me out, so sorry kitty. You might need to find someone else for food." He looked down, his eyes closed and that smile never leaving his face.
I hated it.
I hated it, because I know what was going to happen tonight.
The incident which would lead him to his death soon.
'I need to stop it.'
