Chapter 5 - YGS [5]

The child who had fainted earlier finally came to his senses. He quickly rushed to the front and shouted at Luya:

"Big brother Shopkeeper!!! If I win the championship, can I not take the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and instead get a Dark Magician Girl!?"

The boy's words immediately drew laughter from the crowd.

"Damn, this kid's got taste!"

"What's with kids these days, isn't the Blue-Eyes White Dragon good enough!?"

"Yeah, that majestic white dragon!"

"And he's still thinking about some Dark Magician Girl… huh!?"

"At this point, it's already an art form…"

Hearing the boy's question, Luya shook his head and said, "No."

Zhongli commented:

"Cough, cough… By common reasoning, this child is quite the little pervert…"

Hu Tao suddenly darted forward, crouching in front of the boy and striking a mock-intimidating pose:

"Roar!"

"Let this Hall Master see if you've been possessed by a lustful ghost!!!"

"Begone, evil spirits~"

"Demons and monsters, depart~~"

While the crowd was still noisy, Luya stepped down from the Duel Stage.

Zhongli asked:

"Shopkeeper, what are the registration requirements for the Duel Tournament?" Zhongli voiced the crowd's biggest question.

Since the tournament had such grand prizes, surely there must be some threshold.

And truth be told, people still only half-understood what a Duel really was… However, that was a good thing—everyone was starting from the same line!

The rest would come down to talent and strength.

Facing Zhongli's question, Luya smiled and replied:

"Mr. Zhongli, wait just a moment, and I'll explain it to everyone."

"It's a little complicated…".

Luya then walked over to the box he had set down earlier…

With a tearing sound, he ripped the seal off the box. Inside the box were the goods generated daily by the system.

Roughly, the system could produce 1000 card packs per day.

Each pack was priced at 20,000 Mora. If they all sold out, Luya could make 20 million Mora in revenue—but since he promised today's customers a 10% discount, if they sold out he would make 18 million Mora.

The system would then calculate his daily revenue and grant rewards accordingly.

Albeit today was the very first day of business, so Luya had no idea what kind of rewards the system would give.

Everything… would have to wait until the evening settlement.

For now, Luya's task was simple: sell every last card pack!

He took one pack from the box and handed it to Hu Tao. The packaging bore the image of Yugi Muto and the Dark Magician.

"Master Hu, you open the first pack!"

Hu Tao looked at the Yu-Gi-Oh! booster pack in his hand, her heart racing. Just touching the pack made her heartbeat surge with excitement!

The card pack felt dense and solid, and her palms were slick with sweat.

She held the Monster Card pack in her hands, turning it over and examining it… But couldn't figure out where to open it.

Noticing her struggle, Luya pointed to the jagged notch at the top of the pack.

Hu Tao nodded in understanding.

She tore it open—

Five orange-swirled cards flew out, forming a pentagon shape as they floated in the air.

No one knew what those five cards were.

The bystanders, seeing Hu Tao as the first to open a pack—and in front of everyone else—were filled with envy…

Zhongli too looked at the five floating cards with anticipation, eager to see how Hu Tao's luck would fare.

Hu Tao, overwhelmed by the sight, froze…

"Uhh—"

"This…"

"Shopkeeper, what do I do next?!"

In response, Luya grasped Hu Tao's right hand, pinching her index finger, and guided her to touch one of the floating cards.

Hu Tao's hand was cool to the touch, adorned with several delicate rings:

A black crystal ring, a skull ring, and a silver ring. The black crystal warded off bad energy, the skull ring symbolized her work with the dead, and the silver ring represented a yearning for freedom.

Being held by Luya, Hu Tao panicked for a moment, though she didn't entirely dislike the feeling.

Then, from seemingly nowhere, a spirited voice rang out:

"Normal!!!"

A card with a brown border, its artwork showing a skeleton in a blue robe, appeared before everyone.

[Skull Servant] Level 1│DARK│Zombie│300 ATK / 200 DEF

[Description: A skeletal ghost that isn't strong but can mean trouble in large numbers.]

"Ah?!"

"This card only has 300 Attack Points?!"

"Though… this little skeleton is kind of cute…"

"It can be my mascot… I could even take it along to Feiyun Slope to play."

After witnessing the Blue-Eyes White Dragon's 3000 Attack… everyone present knew this Skull Servant was a trash card!

Only 300 Attack… and just 200 Defense. Its stats were abysmal.

Even so, Luya didn't see it that way.

Though Skull Servant was weak, with only 300 Attack, there was a card called [King of the Skull Servants]. Its Attack increased by 1000 for every Skull Servant and King of the Skull Servants in the Graveyard.

The Graveyard was where Monster Cards went when defeated.

What looked like worthless trash could actually surpass even the Blue-Eyes White Dragon's 3000 Attack!

Forget "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, I become a God" nonsense!

As Hu Tao touched another card—

"Whoa! A Legend!!!"

Luya was the first to see the card face…

"What the—never seen this card before!?"

"What the hell?"

"Wangsheng Funeral Parlor—what kind of card is this!?"
