Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Rules of the Inpatient Building

The nurse smiled gently. "I suggest you get a good night's rest and enough sleep."

Yoon Seo-rin didn't press further. She simply stepped back, unfolding a piece of paper in her hand.

From behind her, Kang Do-hyun's sharp eyes caught a familiar name printed on it—his own.

This was the very list the nurse had used earlier to check their identities. It held names, photos, ages, and little else.

Gasps rippled silently among the others. How had Seo-rin gotten hold of it? Wasn't that dangerous? What if she triggered a death condition?!

Unbothered, Seo-rin skimmed through, matching the names one by one, until her eyes landed on a row of numbers at the end of each entry.

Behind her own name: [0110801]. She had no idea what it meant.

She flipped the page over. Blank. Satisfied, she called out:

"Sister Nurse, you dropped something."

Professor Lee Sang-woo paused mid-step. He had half a mind to intercept and check the paper himself. But Seo-rin clearly had no intention of sharing.

The nurse turned. Her smile froze. She stared at Seo-rin, her dark eyes burning like a blade. The temperature in the hall plummeted.

What the hell is she doing?! Even newcomers knew better than to provoke dungeon NPCs. Who knew which one carried the death rule?

The others instinctively backed away. Even Do-hyun frowned and shifted a step aside, unwilling to be too near Seo-rin.

But Seo-rin stood her ground. When the nurse drew close, she calmly handed the paper back.

The nurse: "..."

She took it in silence, her tone chilling as she said, "Don't take what isn't yours."

"I picked it up," Seo-rin corrected with a straight face.

The nurse clearly didn't believe her, but instead of arguing, she adjusted her words. "Then… don't pick up other people's things."

Seo-rin nodded. "Aren't you going to say thank you to me?"

The nurse: "?"

"How rude." Seo-rin crossed her arms like a queen passing judgment. "I'll have to file a complaint about you."

The nurse: "???"

She froze, her puppet-like face glitching for a moment.

"What's this? You're not convinced?" Seo-rin pressed on mercilessly. "Is this what you call the best service? I haven't even moved in, and you're already making me uncomfortable. How can I face my new life with a good attitude if this continues? If something goes wrong, who takes responsibility? You?"

Something in her words struck a nerve. The nurse's eyes flickered with a strange fear before she lowered her head. Her voice softened. "Thank you for just now. Please don't file a complaint."

Everyone: "???"

Is she… using honorifics?

Seo-rin tilted her chin, smug. "We'll see—depends on your performance."

The nurse's lips twitched. She forced a smile. "This way, please."

From then on, she said little, leading them into the inpatient building.

Inside, her voice resumed its cold, mechanical tone. "Lights out at 10 p.m. Please rest after that. Only one nurse is on duty during the night. Doctors will not appear in the building at night—if you see one, find the nurse on duty for medicine, then return to bed."

She pressed the elevator button. The doors opened with a metallic creak. The interior looked ordinary, save for the sickly pale light that cast unsettling shadows over her face.

Seo-rin stood directly at her side, fearless. The others crowded in the opposite corner, their bodies pressed tightly together.

The nurse pressed 3F. The doors groaned shut.

She glanced sideways at Seo-rin, puzzled at her boldness.

Seo-rin shot back without hesitation. "What are you looking at?"

The nurse: "..."

Professor Lee and the others: "…"

Warrior. She's insane.

The atmosphere grew so tense it felt suffocating. Surely she was about to trigger a death rule—

Ding.

The elevator stopped at the third floor. The doors opened. Air rushed in like salvation.

The corridor stretched long, lined with closed doors. Most of the rooms seemed empty, or perhaps their occupants were simply absent. A few nurses walked past, busy and indifferent.

Their guide stopped at the far end, where four doors waited.

"Two per room," she said flatly, before leaving them.

The group looked around uncertainly.

"She just left us here?" someone whispered.

"What do we do now?"

Professor Lee answered calmly. "Choose a room."

Each room was identical. The only problem—roommates.

Jang Min-ho quickly spoke: "My girlfriend and I will share."

Han Ji-hye nodded, clinging to him. Of course she wanted to stay with her boyfriend.

That left six.

A curly-haired girl grabbed another by the wrist. "We'll share. Right, Choi Han-sol?"

Han-sol nodded quickly. Neither wanted to risk rooming with a man—or worse, Seo-rin.

That left four.

A pale-faced boy raised his hand nervously. "Professor Lee… may I share with you?"
