Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Lucifuge Siblings

The Bael estate was abuzz with anticipation. Word had spread that Lord Lucifuge, the right hand of the Lucifer family, would soon arrive. For days, the staff polished every surface and rehearsed every protocol, while Kiyoshi felt the familiar weight of expectation settle on his shoulders once more.

The Arrival

On a misty afternoon, a sleek obsidian carriage bearing the Lucifuge crest rolled through the gates. Lord Lucifuge emerged first—tall, severe, with eyes like polished onyx. At his side was his younger sister, Lady Lilith Lucifuge, her presence as enigmatic as the moon behind clouds. She moved with a dancer's grace, her silver hair and violet eyes drawing curious glances from all who saw her.

Venelana greeted them with practiced warmth. "Welcome, Lord Lucifuge. Lady Lilith. The Bael estate is honored."

Lord Lucifuge's gaze swept the hall. "We are here at the request of the Lucifer family. My sister will observe as well."

Lilith offered only a nod, her attention already drifting to Kiyoshi.

The First Test

After formalities, Lord Lucifuge requested a demonstration of Kiyoshi's progress. In the training hall, Kiyoshi faced a series of magical challenges—summoning, barrier creation, and elemental manipulation. Lord Lucifuge watched with a scholar's detachment, making notes for his report.

Lilith, however, was different. She circled Kiyoshi, her eyes sharp and searching. "Your aura is unusual," she murmured. "It's… beautiful. Dangerous, too."

Kiyoshi blushed, unsure how to respond.

Without warning, Lilith conjured a flurry of shadowy butterflies that darted around him. "Catch them," she challenged.

Kiyoshi focused, weaving a net of light. The butterflies scattered, but he adapted, shifting his magic's shape and rhythm. Lilith's eyes widened as he caught them all, one by one.

"Impressive," she said, her voice softer now. "Most would have tried to overpower them. You listened instead."

Secrets and Shadows

That evening, Kiyoshi found Lilith in the moonlit garden, gazing at the stars. She spoke without turning. "Do you ever feel trapped by what others expect of you?"

Kiyoshi hesitated, then nodded. "Sometimes. But I want to choose my own path."

Lilith smiled faintly. "Good. Never let anyone—devil or angel—define you."

Suddenly, a commotion erupted near the estate's edge. A magical alarm flared—an intruder had breached the wards.

The Intruder

Kiyoshi and Lilith rushed to the scene, joined by Lord Lucifuge and Zekram. They found a masked figure attempting to steal a forbidden tome from the library vault.

Lilith acted first, her shadows binding the intruder. Kiyoshi, thinking quickly, used a spell to disarm the thief without harm. Lord Lucifuge's eyes narrowed in approval.

The intruder was revealed to be a rogue devil, desperate for forbidden knowledge. Lord Lucifuge interrogated him, while Lilith watched Kiyoshi with new respect.

"You didn't hesitate," she said quietly. "You protected what mattered, but you showed mercy."

A New Understanding

The next morning, Lord Lucifuge prepared to depart. He spoke privately with Zekram and Venelana, his report complete.

Lilith lingered in the garden, waiting for Kiyoshi. "You have potential, Kiyoshi Bael. Not just power, but heart. That's rare among our kind."

She pressed a small obsidian charm into his hand. "If you ever need help, call me. I want to see what you become."

Kiyoshi smiled, feeling a new sense of confidence. "Thank you, Lady Lilith."

She smiled back, her usual reserve softened. "Call me Lilith."
