Chapter 2: Motolipas Syndrome
Motolipas syndrome.
A name that sounded harmless enough at first, almost clinical. But the truth hit me like a punch. It wasn't just a name. It was a curse. A syndrome that could kill. That could twist someone's mind until they became a weapon, unable to control themselves, lashing out at everyone around them. Some people turned into monsters—physically, mentally, emotionally—while others gained immense power, sharp and terrifying, almost untouchable… but still human, barely.
The more I heard, the colder my blood felt. My heart raced, my hands shook. Motolipas syndrome… me? The words echoed in my head, bouncing off every memory of my life so far. The orphanage, the heartbreak with Emily, the part-time jobs, the exhaustion that made every day feel like wading through sludge. And now this.
I sank onto the bench, my palms pressed against my face. I couldn't breathe for a moment. Could I… could I really be one of those people? A monster waiting to awaken? Or someone who would gain power I couldn't even imagine, but at the cost of losing myself?
Tears stung my eyes, not just from fear but from everything I'd already been through. Every lonely birthday, every night spent lying awake wondering if anyone cared, every betrayal and heartbreak—it all seemed to converge into one unbearable weight pressing on my chest.
I clenched my fists until my nails bit into my palms. "This… this can't be real," I whispered, my voice shaking. "I'm… I'm just a kid. I don't want… I don't want to be—"
Then I heard police alarms, beeping, while turning red and blue. I thought they didn't know about the syndrome but the car stopped in front of me, alarms turned of along with the lights. Three police–man came out of the car and dragged me at the back of the car. Handcuffing me, I screamed at them telling the what are they doing, and they suddenly knocked me out.
When I woke up I, my vision was blurry, hearing voices of two people arguring about killing. My vision became clear and I saw a red haired girl with long hair walking out of the room with anger.
Looking around, I saw a man with blue eyes and white hair, wearing a long brown jacket and black long pants with black boots.
"Sweating after every twenty three second, always sleepy eyes becoming dark to the point that were black, not eating too much". The guy said the word with calm voice and suddenly looked at me.
"Sir how are you" Saying his words with a calm voice.
"Huh, I'm fine, and why am I here"
The man's blue eyes didn't blink. He just stared at me, calm and steady, and I couldn't look away. "You're here because of Motolipas syndrome," he said, like it was nothing, like it was just a word on a page. But to me, it sounded like a death sentence.
"I… I have what?" My voice trembled, barely a whisper.
He nodded slowly, stepping closer. "You've been showing signs for months. Sweating for no reason, exhaustion that never ends, your body dragging you down even when you try to rest. Nobody noticed, or if they did… they couldn't understand."
I felt my chest tighten. My palms were clammy. "Signs… of what?"
"Motolipas syndrome," he said, his voice low but firm. "It's not just physical. It twists the mind, the emotions… the very core of a person. Some who awaken fully lose themselves entirely. They become weapons, monsters, unable to control their strength or impulses. Others gain incredible power—but it comes at a price: they lose part of themselves. Their humanity slips away."
"Then aren't you a human anymore"
"Precisely, I'm not human anymore, as you can see I can completely control my body under my will, Wich means I will not became a monster"
"Then who was the girl that walked out"
"Our captain" The Man said the words with a calm voice.
"Then why were you disobeying her orders"
"She wanted to kill you because you under the effect of the syndrome".
"Ah, I see now, well I'm fine now can you let me go". I said the words with a happy impression.
The police signalled the others to release the chains.
Then the voice from earlier spoke again.
