Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Peace Medical College 6

Having never really looked at it, Xia Bai had no idea what Song Mingliang's eyes usually looked like.

His intuition told him otherwise. Perhaps they were dark and gloomy, but not this crazy, not this crazy, silent smile with all his teeth bared.

What made him think Song Mingliang was abnormal the most was the hand on his calf. It was cold and sticky, not the temperature a normal person would have.

Xia Bai closed his eyes again and remained motionless.

He didn't know what time it was at night, but the dormitory was silent except for the sound of breathing. Judging by the breathing, the other two people who hadn't slept all night were asleep, and sleeping soundly.

The hand on his calf slid down, a cool air rushed in, and Xia Bai's cool quilt was pulled away.

There was a rustling sound, and Xia Bai felt Song Mingliang crawl into his quilt and crawl forward, more like a wriggling than a crawling.

When he reached the middle of the quilt, he stopped.

Xia Bai felt a chill on his waist, and Song Mingliang stretched out his hand to his waist.

He rolled over with the quilt rolled up, and the quilt slipped off Song Mingliang. Xia Bai lay on his side motionless, with his eyes slightly lowered to keep his breathing steady. He could feel Song Mingliang hunched over beside him, perhaps staring at him.

The cool, watery breath was right beside Xia Bai's ear, ruffling the fine hairs on his cheek.

After an unknown amount of time, Song Mingliang finally went down.

Xia Bai still didn't move, his eyes fixed on the ladder at the end of the bed.

Five minutes later, a head slowly emerged.

Song Mingliang had a lot of hair, which was black, thick, and fluffy, and a little long. When it emerged like this, it looked like a black ball, but the light in his eyes was particularly bright, half-hidden in his thick bangs, emitting a faint light, silently spying on its prey in the middle of the night.

The person on the bed moved strangely, turning sideways to face the wall with his back to everything in the dormitory.

The head sank again.

Xia Bai only lay flat on his back after he felt Song Mingliang had actually gone down. He kept his eyes slightly lowered and only glanced at the dormitory from the corner of his eyes.

Song Mingliang went to the opposite side.

He put his hands on the railing of Wen Dong's bed and stared at Wen Dong's head.

Xia Bai couldn't see below, and didn't know whether he was standing in the air or standing on a chair. He only saw his dark back pressed against Wen Dong's bed.

He blinked, and when he looked over again after a while, Song Mingliang had already reached Meng Tianyou's bed.

Perhaps to facilitate quick movement, Meng Tianyou did not take off his shoes when he slept, and his feet hung at the entrance of the stairs.

Song Mingliang stood on the ladder, staring at Meng Tianyou's shoes, very close, looking very focused and excited, as if he could see through the loose shoe openings and loose shoelaces to see inside the shoes, and there was something inside that attracted him.

Perhaps because he was too close, Meng Tianyou felt something in his sleep and moved his feet.

Song Mingliang then withdrew his prying gaze inside, and just like he did on Xia Bai's bed, he slowly climbed onto Meng Tianyou's bed, half lying on Meng Tianyou, and moved forward little by little, lifting a corner of the thin blanket on Meng Tianyou's body, revealing a hole.

He bent his body, put his head in the hole and looked inside.

In the darkness, the black figure trembled a few times for some reason, and stretched his hand through the hole.

"Cough cough!"

The person in bed number one started coughing, perhaps because he caught a cold.

The cough did not wake up the person who had not slept all night last night, but it stopped the black shadow lying on bed number four.

The black shadow stopped moving, but turned his head to look at the person in bed number one. The dormitory was dark, and the only light came from two eyes, like a cat's eye that borrowed a little light in the dark night, bright abruptly and strangely.

Song Mingliang did not move any further, and he returned to his bed quietly.

For the rest of the night, as long as Xia Bai opened his eyes slightly, he could always see two beams of faint light shining through the gap under the quilt of bed number three.

The next morning, when Lin Xiang came to find Xia Bai to have breakfast together, he looked at him in surprise: "Xia Bai, you didn't sleep well last night, did you?"

According to his understanding of Xia Bai, there are two things that are unchangeable for him: eating and sleeping, and nothing can affect them.

The other three people in the dormitory were all there, and Song Mingliang sat on the chair behind Xia Bai. Xia Bai coughed twice and said, "I seem to have caught a cold. Not only coughing, but also a little diarrhea. I want to go to the bathroom."

Lin Xiang saw that the bathroom door was closed, and it seemed that Meng Tianyou was inside. He said, "There's a toilet in the restaurant. Can I go with you first?" Xia Bai nodded and said

, "It's a bit urgent." Lin Xiang said to the three of them, "Let's go to the restaurant first. See you in the restaurant." The two walked to the door and saw Hua Haoming coming. Lin Xiang said to him, "Brother, Xia Bai has diarrhea. I'll take him to the toilet in the restaurant first." Hua Haoming glanced at Xia Bai and said, "Why go to the restaurant when you have diarrhea in a hurry? There might be a queue for the toilet in the restaurant. There's no one in our dormitory now. Let's go to our dormitory." Lin Xiang: "Huh? Right!" The two took Xia Bai to 304 on the same floor. As soon as they entered the dormitory, Hua Haoming asked directly, "Tell me, what's going on?" Lin Xiang: "Ah?" Xia Bai didn't ask Hua Haoming how he knew it. Time was short, so he told the two of them what happened last night. Lin Xiang frowned, "Song Mingliang is still affected, but what happened to him?" The two could not give him an answer now, so he began to think divergently, "Yesterday Wen Dong talked about the problem of the supply of cadavers in the medical school, and said that the school might have produced so many cadavers. Song Mingliang said again that nothing happened to him, but he became like this... I know! Could it be like this?" Hua Haoming asked cooperatively, "What?" Lin Xiang said excitedly, "There is a source of contamination in the morgue. It might be researched by a professor at a certain time. This kind of thing will slowly turn people who come into contact with it from living people into ghost corpses, and become cadavers on the test bench. It is even possible that they are still conscious when they are dissected! So Song Mingliang personally thinks that nothing happened, but in fact he was contaminated and was about to turn into a ghost corpse!" His imagination has always been good. Seeing that the two did not agree with his idea, Lin Xiang added: "It is also possible that it is not a source of pollution, but the ghost they are talking about, but a cursed ghost. The cursed person will become neither human nor ghost." "No." Hua Haoming interrupted his self-improvement, "It is fundamentally wrong. You have forgotten the most crucial words that Dai Liangyuan said." Lin Xiang: "What?" Xia Bai: "Many people who have been to the morgue have gone crazy and tortured themselves to death." Lin Xiang was stunned for a moment. Yes, it was people who went crazy and tortured themselves to death. "But Song Mingliang doesn't look like he wants to torture himself, but he wants to torture others." Just imagine him climbing onto the beds of his roommates like that late at night, and Lin Xiang felt uneasy. Hua Haoming: "Maybe last night was just the beginning, and it will get worse and worse." Xia Bai: "Do you want to tell others?"

Hua Haoming thought for a moment. "Not yet. I'll decide before bed."

"Yes, yes," Lin Xiang said. "There's another possibility. That's that there really is a ghost in the morgue. After Song Mingliang entered the morgue, the ghost possessed him. The ghost then infects him, taking over his body. This would explain why some students go mad and torture themselves to death."

That makes sense.

Lin Xiang: "If that's the case, the ghost is in Song Mingliang right now. If Xia Bai goes and tells the others, it'll be bad if the ghost sees us." Lin Xiang

was about to say something when Hua Haoming suddenly covered his mouth.

Xia Bai turned around and, along with Lin Xiang, followed Hua Haoming's gaze.

The dormitories at this medical school were much more shabby than the dormitories at the actual Heping Hospital. The door seemed to have shrunk, not closing properly, with a small section visible underneath. The gap was also noticeable.

At this moment, a shadow appeared beneath the door.

Someone was standing outside.

His gaze shifted toward the gap and he was caught off guard by an eye.

The eye appeared at some point, and was now glued to the crack of the door. It was long and dark, and it was staring intently at the inside of the door, its eyes dim and with obvious ripples.

A chill ran from the soles of his feet to his heart, and Lin Xiang got goose bumps all of a sudden.

The three of them stood stiffly for several seconds. It was Hua Haoming who walked to the door, paused for a few seconds, and opened it.

Song Qiang's hand, which was about to knock on the door, stopped in mid-air. He saw the three of them holding up the thermoses in their hands and smiled warmly, "I just heard that classmate Xia Bai caught a cold and has diarrhea, so I went to the dormitory manager to get a cup of hot water."

Next to him stood Song Mingliang. As always, he lowered his head slightly when he was next to Song Qiang, and his bangs covered his eyes.

Xia Bai thanked him, took the thermos, and began to drink in small sips.

Lin Xiang stood in front of Xia Bai, his eyes fixed on Xia Bai, not even a glance towards Song Mingliang.

Song Qiang, unaware of the problem, said, "Let's go to the cafeteria for breakfast."

Hua Haoming nodded. "Let's go! We'll be late any later."

The five of them headed for the cafeteria together. On the way, Song Qiang said, "It was Song Mingliang who told me that Xia Bai had a stomachache. Even though he's quiet, he still cares about his classmates. Oh, he even prepared the hot water."

"Really, Song Mingliang? You care about Xia Bai a lot, don't you? Why are you silent now?"

Song Qiang tugged at Song Mingliang, but he remained silent as before. Furious, Song Qiang slapped him again.

They'd heard Song Qiang hit him on the head before, but this was the first time. The three of them thought the slap was so loud it made them shiver.

Song Mingliang looked up at Song Qiang, his eyes gleaming faintly behind his bangs.

"You're talking? What are you looking at me for?" Song Qiang scolded him loudly.

Lin Xiang, his hand resting on Xia Bai's arm, walked faster. "Well, hurry up! If we don't get to dinner soon, we'll be late for class."

The distance that usually took three minutes was now less than two.

Lin Xiang found a seat by the window, not giving Song Qiang and his son a chance to get close. Even so, they always felt that a pair of eyes were spying on them while they were eating, and they didn't know if it was a psychological effect.

This feeling continued until class.

Song Mingliang sat diagonally behind them, just like in the last class. They felt like being spied on, but they didn't even look back.

If they couldn't look at Song Mingliang, they could look at someone else.

Dai Liangyuan, who had gone with Song Mingliang to prepare for the lesson yesterday, sat in a seat by the window in front of them on the left.

Unlike Song Mingliang, he didn't spy on the people around him. He sat there quietly, looking at the textbook with his head slightly lowered, biting his fingers unconsciously, looking normal.

Xia Bai retracted his gaze and looked at the teacher on the podium.

After about ten minutes, he suddenly sniffed and looked at Dai Liangyuan again. Dai Liangyuan still maintained that sitting posture, his movements didn't change at all, but Xia Bai saw a small stream of blood flowing into his sleeve from the finger he bit.

If you look closely, you can see that his cheeks are slightly bulging. Two minutes later, he loosened his fingers, took his hand out of his mouth and let it drop to his side.

Xia Bai saw that his finger was missing a piece.

The flesh above the nail was gone, revealing a white finger bone, which was soon covered with blood.

The sun was shining brightly, slanting across the classroom. In class, the teacher was still reading the contents of the textbook verbatim. The students didn't seem to notice the abnormality of the two classmates, including themselves, and were not concentrating on listening to the class casually.

The breathing around him was heavy. Xia Bai saw Lin Xiang biting the bent finger bone of his index finger and holding his breath.

The two looked at each other, and like everyone else, they stopped looking around and listened to the class as if they knew nothing.

The author has something to say:

Xia Bai rolled up the quilt very manly: except for the old attacker, I won't let anyone who is still breathing touch my waist.
