Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Marginals

Chapter 2: The Marginals

1 hour, 33 minutes and 53 seconds after the discussion between Mr. Sthim and Boyka.

On the rooftop of a building, Mr. Sthim stands next to a man in his thirties.

The older man:

— Sthim… your little Boyka has fallen asleep. When he wakes up, everything you told him will seem like a dream. He will never believe that there is a vision of the world that goes beyond the barrier of the impossible.

Mr. Sthim:

— Hmm… Abou Salif, you are right. But that is exactly the test to enter the Marginals.

The man's name is Abou Salif, a former veteran of the Marginals.

Abou Salif (slightly smiling):

— Ah, I see.

Sthim:

— When he wakes up, he will think all of this was just a dream. But to join us, he will have to learn to live as if this world truly exists. Even if, at first, he cannot see things any other way… and even if people will think he is crazy. To become a Marginal, he must cross the barrier of the impossible.

Abou Salif (with a darker smile):

— Then let's go. We must continue our investigation on the case of the missing children.

Sthim (sighing):

— Another difficult mission… we cannot entrust it to the new recruits.

Abou Salif:

— Yes. Especially since it might be that a human who has already crossed the barrier of the impossible, and who fully controls his mind, is behind all of this. We cannot leave that in inexperienced hands.

Narrator:

The Marginals… A secret organization that watches over the balance between the ordinary world and the one that surpasses the impossible. To join them, one must change their conception of life and break through this invisible barrier.

In the ordinary world, some humans already cross this limit without even realizing it. They are often artists, comic book authors, filmmakers, athletes, scientists, doctors… people who go beyond what was once believed impossible. They create, discover, invent, and transform the impossible into reality.

But, without full awareness, these individuals often get lost. People see them as dreamers… or as madmen.
