Chapter 3 - The Whisper of the Past

The rain fell softly against the windows of the classroom, each drop creating a rhythm that calmed Aiden's restless thoughts. He sat near the back, his notebook open, but his pen unmoving. His teacher's voice echoed faintly in the background, yet his mind lingered on the dream—the girl with eyes that held the weight of centuries.

He couldn't shake it. It felt too real. The way she smiled, the way her hand almost reached out for his—it was as though he had known her for years, even lifetimes.

"Aiden."The sound of his name pulled him back. His best friend, Kairi, tapped his desk with a playful smirk. "You're spacing out again. Let me guess—dream girl?"

Aiden sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. "Yeah. It's weird, Kairi. I can still hear her voice. She said… 'find me.'"

Kairi raised an eyebrow. "Sounds like fate, dude. Or maybe you just watch too many romance shows before sleeping."

But Aiden wasn't laughing. Deep inside, he knew it wasn't just a dream.

That evening, as he walked home, the world seemed strangely different—colors brighter, air heavier, as though something was about to happen. Passing the old bookstore near the plaza, he stopped abruptly. There, in the display window, was a faded book titled Eternal Bonds: Legends of Lost Souls.

The moment his eyes fell on the cover, his heart pounded. A sketch of a boy and a girl stood beneath a blooming tree—eerily similar to what he had seen in his dream.

Drawn by an unseen force, Aiden stepped inside.

The scent of old paper and dust filled the shop. The elderly shopkeeper glanced at him knowingly, as though expecting him. "Ah, you've come," the man said, his voice low and mysterious.

Aiden froze. "What do you mean?"

The man simply smiled and handed him the book. "Some stories do not stay in the past. Sometimes, they choose to return."

As Aiden took the book into his hands, a sudden flash filled his mind—a memory not his own. He saw the same girl again, standing under a moonlit sky, whispering his name with a promise: "No matter the lifetime, I will find you."

His heart raced. He wasn't dreaming anymore. The past was reaching out to him—and destiny had already begun to weave its threads.
