Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 green

Chapter 8 green

The life of a goblin had only one goal, collecting shiny things. Big shiny things, small shiny things, round ones, square ones, blue, yellow, white, transparent. Every shiny, expensive looking object was worth millions in the eyes of a goblin. That was the same for Bundir, the goblin, he was forced to work and collect precious items, but he loved doing it just like every other goblin. Currently he was working hard in a castle, making sure to collect every little gold scrap, splinter, and miniscule minerals that shone a thousand colors in the light. For Bundir every shiny object had its story to tell.

A small ruby told him the stories of fire long ago, how the world had created it and how it strived to be used. A different mineral would tell a different story of how it came to be, diamonds would tell Bundir about its perfection, no jewel was equal to the diamonds in purity, glimmer and toughness. Moving through the massive castle Bundir had been collecting for days, making a round trip for every treasure he found, to the basement and place it at the perfect place. Every hour would be spend admiring the treasures this world had to offer, it was pure bliss for Bundir.

Sorting the treasures for hours to lay them in a optimal position for the light to reflect, every treasure would require all of his attention, placing one gem better would break the perfection and requires all relics to be moved. But Bundir wasn't alone, he was with many goblins that loved treasures as much as he did. Constantly moving in the castle and bringing a treasure back down to the basement went quickly with many goblins, but the amount of treasure was unfathomable and made any goblin drool.

Bundir moved through the second floor to a new room that was full of treasures, it took many hours to empty it, but the first task was always to write down everything of importance in the room. Yes, goblins could write and would happily do so when they could either work with treasures or gain treasures, for Bundir it was currently both.

Entering the final room of the 2nd floor he started his usual round, first the corner low than go around and go a bit higher until he reached the roof where the highest quality treasure was, the chandelier. Starting his round he passed most of the room when he suddenly saw movement in the room, the curtain next to him had moved.

Turning around to face the curtain he looked at the bipedal creature, looking up he stared in its eyes as Bundir reached for his dagger in his loincloth.

"Too late"

The human held an orange glowing shortsword that pierced his torso. Bundir couldn't evade anymore as he felt the shortsword pierce through his ribs, heart, and exit out of his back. He wanted to scream for help but blood flooded his lungs as he coughed up his last remaining air. Feeling the world become heavy Bundir closed his eyes and felt the world become dark as the sword was pulled out.

[Level increased]

Rohan felt a weird power go through his body as he leveled up, he didn't pass out for once as he felt it spread from his stomach all the way to his ears and toes.

It had taken Rohan a bit of time to figure out how to get to the goblin, his best choice was to wait in ambush until one showed up. 'I'm not too sure whether it was all worth it, only getting 1 level and 11 extra mana is not a lot, but small steps go a long way' Cleaning my sword I looked at the goblin, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Green skin, pointy ears, ugly face, it had what looked like an golden earring in one ear, rusty dagger and a notebook which was full symbols he couldn't recognize at all.

Leaving the goblin behind Rohan went upstairs to recover his mana to his maximum, just to be on the safe side as the small encounter had already used up a quarter and it only took a couple of seconds. Sitting in a luxurious couch and closing his eyes as he waited he was suddenly stirred awake.

"KREEEEGHHH"

A thrilling scream could be heard coming from the lower floor as he got up and took his sword, looking around him as more screams could be heard, but these came from the basement.

"REEEGHHH" "KEEEEEGHH" "HEEEEERGGGG"

The screams were followed by deep drums and sounds of many goblins rushing up the stairs. Rohan had poked the hornet's nest by killing one goblin, a beginners mistake.

I rushed up the stairs to the 4th floor, quickly passing through many doors and closing them behind me as I heard a small stampede approach. It sounded like a hundred kids running straight at you. I dashed through the many halls as I reached the central room with the spiral staircase to the tower. Rushing up the staircase I heard doors bashing in behind me, they were close, way to close.

"Shit shit shit" 'I should have been more careful how could I be that stupid' I thought to myself as I reach the top of the staircase and entered the tower. Looking through the room I couldn't see any escape route, the windows were locked and too small, there was no extra door anywhere and I couldn't ditch the spiral staircase. Looking around the room I decided to use the large heavy wooden desk to block off the staircase for some time. Pushing it in place it would only block a part of the entry. But there was still more than enough room for a goblin to enter, maybe even two. I started mentally preparing myself as I heard them reach the stairs.
