Chapter 25 - Biography

Gina María Paredes Cornejo: A Voice for Women

Born on July 20, 1980, in the bustling city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Gina María Paredes Cornejo grew up surrounded by blueprints and books—the daughter of architects and educators.

From an early age, Gina wrestled with dyslexia, mentally retarded, and a stutter that tried to silence her voice. Instead, she chose to fight back—with words.

She graduated from Avances School and earned her degree in Language and Literature at Vicente Rocafuerte Lay University. Driven by curiosity and a love for languages, she studied English at the Ecuadorian North American Center and Italian at the Garibaldi Italian Society.

But it's through her writing that Gina shines brightest. Her novel "Ellas soy yo: Maltrato a la mujer" ("They Are Me: Abuse of Women") delivers a powerful cry against violence and injustice, giving a voice to those who suffer in silence.

Her dream is simple yet bold: to touch hearts and inspire change. And every word she writes brings her closer to that goal.
