Frank suddenly had a thought and asked Cassius cautiously, "Should we inform the Wei family?"
After all, Nevaeh was their goddaughter. A disappearance this big would be impossible to hide forever.
"No," Cassius replied, his voice absolute. "There's no need."
Nevaeh wasn't lost. He would bring her back safely. He didn't owe anyone an explanation.
He sped away from the academy, his mind a single track: find her.
But he hadn't gone far when Frank's phone rang. Seeing it was Girard, Frank answered immediately.
Five seconds later, whatever was said on the other end caused Frank's usually stoic expression to crack. "What did you just say?" he blurted out, unable to hide his shock.
Frank's outburst snapped Cassius out of his panicked spiral. He shot him a sharp, questioning look.
"What is it?"
Having worked for Cassius for years, Frank had become the picture of composure. A reaction like this was unheard of.
"Sir… they found Naya."
