Chapter 5 - Gravity Room

For Androids, destroying humanity was merely a way to spice up their otherwise boring lives. While this idea was completely incomprehensible to humans, the Androids, having been modified, didn't see anything wrong with it.

Because it was about adding some fun rather than a set task, the Androids didn't systematically destroy cities one after another. If they had, given the number of cities on Earth, they would have been completely destroyed within a year. But the truth was, even by the time Trunks traveled back in time, there were still many cities and humans barely surviving.

The Androids only destroyed cities when they were bored. Therefore, humanity had gained a temporary reprieve.

In the past, these periods of respite were when Gohan trained. But now, he had another task: to help Trunks solidify his Super Saiyan state. Although Bulma didn't want her son to face the terrifying Androids, she understood that if they couldn't resist the Androids, the ultimate result would be the extinction of all mankind.

In fact, Chi-Chi, Gohan's mother, shared the same view. So, in this future world, Chi-Chi didn't insist that Gohan become a scholar even if the world was on the brink of destruction, unlike in the main timeline.

After all... the mighty Goku was dead.

Because he needed to teach Trunks, Gohan didn't return to Mount Paozu. Instead, he and Ling An stayed at Bulma's. Fortunately, Bulma was a top-tier wealthy person before the apocalypse. Her house was quite large, and it was easy to arrange two rooms for them to stay in.

And so, Ling An and Gohan stayed at Bulma's, and they stayed for half a month.

That day, Trunks and Gohan were still training on the lawn. The main focus was helping Trunks master Super Saiyan. Without the deep-seated trauma of Gohan's death, although Trunks could still transform into a Super Saiyan on his own, it wasn't stable. The Super Saiyan state would wear off quickly due to the depletion of energy.

"Good, Trunks, come at me with an attack. Remember, keep your mind steady when you attack. Don't let your ki dissipate because of the attack. Once your ki disperses, it'll be hard for you to maintain the Super Saiyan state!"

Two golden-haired Saiyans were sparring on the lawn in a controlled manner. Facing the still-inexperienced Trunks, Gohan could multitask, parrying his attacks while also constantly offering guidance.

Ling An was lying on a recliner nearby, wearing sunglasses and watching the two of them fight. He occasionally took a sip of his freshly squeezed juice. Compared to the damp and dim underground house, soaking up the warm sunlight was definitely more comfortable.

"Ling An-chan, don't you need to train?"

Bulma, who had been studying something, suddenly walked over. She looked at the fight between Trunks and Gohan, then at Ling An, who was lounging like a lazy fish. She blinked, utterly puzzled. In her memory, even Saiyans like Goku and Vegeta were almost constantly training. According to them, they would regress if they didn't train constantly. Although she found it hard to believe, she understood that even the Saiyan race needed to constantly train to get stronger.

So why, as an Earthling, did Ling An not only not need to train, but also possess unimaginable power? She hadn't seen Ling An train even once in the past half-month.

Hearing Bulma's question, Ling An didn't hesitate. He chuckled and said, "Actually, I do need to train, but my training is different from Gohan's and the others. They mainly train their bodies, while I train my mind... It's similar to meditation."

"Oh, I see. So it's like Piccolo, using meditation as a method of training," Bulma nodded, suddenly understanding. She knew that although Piccolo trained with punches and kicks, he sometimes also meditated.

Seeing Bulma's understanding expression, Ling An chuckled a few times. Meditation was, of course, just her excuse. After all, the system was a secret that she had to keep. No one else could know about it. As for why she didn't train like Gohan, well, for an Earthling, training didn't mean much for increasing power. People like Krillin, no matter how much they trained, would hardly reach a battle power of a million, not to mention Ling An herself didn't have much talent for training.

At most, she would occasionally practice some punches and kicks to keep her body from becoming sluggish. Relying on training to gain power was almost out of the question. Besides, she had the Critical Hit System and could steadily improve every day. Why would she do something as tiring and thankless as training?

The critical hit multiplier, in the early stages, the growth was relatively limited. However, after more than two years of critical hits, even if it was only a few hundredths of a multiplier, that was still tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of battle power, comparable to the Ginyu Force. It could be said that the greater the initial battle power, the more terrifying the battle power gained from critical hits.

In the past half month, she had already gained nearly a million in battle power, and her current battle power had reached sixty-five million. It was incredibly fast. If it weren't for the Saiyans' cheat-like dozens of times power boost, her power growth wouldn't be as fast as theirs.

Like Trunks, his normal state battle power was only around two million. This was still after he transformed into a Super Saiyan, but that was all. In these ten-odd days, his normal state battle power hadn't increased much.

"The third anniversary is coming up in a little over a month. I wonder what special critical hit I'll get then. I hope the system is generous. I don't need a sudden fifty times increase like the Super Saiyans, but as long as I can get a ten or twenty times multiplier, I can surpass the Androids instantly. Then, I won't have to worry about when the Androids will show up, like now."

Ling An's heart was filled with hope. If it were before, getting a few dozen times multiplier wouldn't be very useful. But at her current battle power, at sixty million, a ten times critical hit would give her over six hundred million battle power, already comparable to the two Androids in the main timeline. And the Androids in the future timeline were much weaker than those in the main timeline. Six hundred million battle power wouldn't be much during the Cell Games, but in the future world, it could completely crush the two Androids.

However, relying entirely on the system isn't the solution. Ling An knew that if Gohan and Trunks, the two Saiyans, could perform better, they might be able to deal with the Androids more quickly.

So, she looked at the circular building not far away and said to Bulma:

"By the way, Aunt Bulma, what's that building for? It doesn't seem to be used much?"

"That..."

Hearing Ling An's words, Bulma was slightly taken aback, glancing at the circular building. Her eyes flashed with a hint of reminiscence. How could she not know that building? Vegeta had trained inside it for a long time. Thinking of this, she suddenly smiled. That arrogant guy, Vegeta, had been killed by the Androids many years ago. He probably didn't even have a body left in the afterlife.

She said to Ling An with a smile, "That's the Gravity Room. Trunks's father asked my dad to build it for him. He was always training inside, but it didn't seem to do much good. In the end, he was still killed by the Androids."

"Uh..."

Ling An hadn't expected that the famous Gravity Room would be dismissed as useless by Bulma. But she didn't see it that way. After all, in the Dragon Ball world, training with increased weight was very effective, even at the Super Saiyan stage. For example, at the beginning of the Buu Saga, Vegeta was still using the Gravity Room to train with Trunks. If it was useless, Vegeta wouldn't have kept at it.

The Time Chamber on Earth, as well as Son Goku's training on the Sacred World of the Kais, were both based on resisting gravity. The reason she asked Bulma was, naturally, to find out if the Gravity Room was still functional.

The Gravity Room wasn't of much use to her, but it would be far more beneficial for Gohan and Trunks. Even if they couldn't immediately break through to the second stage of Super Saiyan, any improvement was welcome.

So, she shared this idea with Bulma.

"The Gravity Room hasn't been used for over a decade. If we want to reactivate it, it might take a few days for repairs, but that's not the main issue. The most important thing is that West City doesn't have enough energy to keep the Gravity Room running," Bulma said truthfully. She felt quite helpless. Aside from the Gravity Room, the Time Machine she was researching was also limited by the issue of resources, besides not having fully understood it.

If she had all the resources of the former Capsule Corporation, with her research speed, she wouldn't have been so slow, even if she couldn't have created the Time Machine immediately. In fact, in the Dragon Ball Super era, Bulma obtained the research notes for the Time Machine and was able to repair it quickly. However, she didn't have the conditions now.

"Aunt Bulma, please try to see if the Gravity Room can be used. If it can, Gohan and I can go find the energy. The Gravity Room can better help Gohan and the others train. If we have the help of the Gravity Room, we might be able to deal with the Androids faster."

After so much groundwork, Ling An finally revealed her true intentions. Since the Time Chamber on Earth couldn't be used, they could only rely on Bulma's Gravity Room. Otherwise, with Gohan and Trunks' current training, it would be very difficult to fight the Androids.

Hearing Ling An's serious words, Bulma was stunned for a moment. She listened to the sounds of Trunks' and Gohan's battle nearby, and then looked at Ling An's clear gaze. Her expression also became serious:

"Let me give it a try!"

Hope You Best!
