As Anna reached the ground floor, Emma had already walked in. Her clear eyes were sharp and filled with hostility, like daggers ready to strike.
Anna curved her lips slightly, poured herself a glass of water, and sat down on the sofa. "Miss Luke, if you have something to say, just say it."
"Why did you poison my nephew?" Emma's tone was cutting, her impression of Anna already ruined, thanks to Natalie's constant whispering and the endless online rumors.
Anna didn't explain. Instead, she calmly asked, "Miss Luke, what motive would I have to harm Shawn?"
"You're jealous of my sister-in-law! Jealous that she gave birth to the heir of the Luke family!" Emma snapped, her eyes flashing as she watched Anna's expression for any sign of guilt.
Anna chuckled softly, amusement glinting in her eyes. Despite Emma's obvious hostility, her blunt honesty was almost refreshing, she asked what she wanted to know directly.
