Chapter 3 - 3

The kinship in infinite space is so cruel and realistic.

Chu Wang didn't know what had happened to him, but after three months of high fever, he not only didn't die, but also gained extraordinary abilities.

He escaped and began wandering the world of the Thirty-Sixth Floor. Over the next six years, he picked up many children intermittently, but only a handful survived.

Inya was the most unique of the children he had found. Although her small body was very thin due to malnutrition, she had a carefree temperament.

Unlike children born here, they seem to be born obedient and dull, as if they have already foreseen their tragic and short lives.

Inia's little hand tugged at Chu Wang's hat string. She looked up, her innocent big eyes meeting her adoptive brother's calm and gentle gaze.

She made two babyish "ah ah" sounds and reached out her other hand, seemingly wanting to touch his cheek, but because she was too young and hadn't developed enough to control the strength of her hand, she accidentally slapped Chu Wang's jawbone.

The baby was really strong; a small red mark immediately appeared on the boy's cheek.

Chu Wang wasn't angry. He held her small hand and was actually very happy. "Nia seems to be much more energetic than last month."

"Yes, yes," said Charlie, the little boy squatting beside her, still shaken. "For the past few months, she was like a kitten, barely breathing. I was so afraid she wouldn't make it."

"Give Nia some of my dinner," Xiao Shi said, stroking the baby's curly hair. "That way she can become stronger."

"She will grow up healthy," Chu Wang said.

Chu Wang was the leader of the children and also everyone's older brother. Whatever he said seemed to be especially credible.

After several baby handshake sessions throughout the day, the children skillfully divided the tasks. Some carried in the small buckets that collected rainwater outside the base, some started a fire to cook, and some cleaned.

They were just a few children who hadn't grown up yet, but they worked as efficiently as adults.

The elder brother, Chu Wang, was a vital force in finding supplies during the dangerous daytime, and after a busy day, his younger siblings wouldn't let him do any work.

So, the sweet task of taking care of the child was handed over to him.

Chu Wang patiently played with Inia, his gaze focused and gentle.

After that persistent high fever years ago, Chu Wang's left eye transformed from black to silver-gray. No one knew that under his heterochromatic gaze, the entire world appeared drastically different.

The curly-haired baby was carefree, blowing bubbles on the tattered blanket, with only the boy able to see the short words flashing above her head.

  [Lord of ?: Inya (Infant)]

The tiny baby in front of him was a dungeon boss that hadn't grown up yet.

Chapter 2 002 His Little Hell

In the Refining Realm, everything has been secretly priced, including humans.

Chu Wang's heterochromatic eyes can see the value and information of everything. In his field of vision, the things in the small base are basically marked with gray labels such as expired, waste, and garbage.

When looking at the other children, the labels above their heads read "Homeless Children (Unregistered)".

The names the children choose themselves don't seem to be recognized by the rules he sees.

In the Thirty-Sixth Layer World, the players Chu Wang saw were basically marked with the words "[Tier x, Level x Player]", while Wanderer players would have the words "Wanderer" added.

If Chu Wang gets to know them, their names will appear above the players' heads, and no matter how they change their appearance, they cannot escape his notice.

He can't see his own information, but it's probably similar to the unregistered status of other children.

This also shows how unique Inya's identity is.

The boy reached out and embraced her tenderly.

He is already fourteen years old this year. In the Refining Realm, children aged thirteen or fourteen are considered adults and can enter the instance with adults.

Despite his slender build, Chu Wang was a child who had grown up enduring trials in the brutal Thirty-Three Floors. Those who had witnessed his ruthlessness and vengeful nature treated him as a troublesome opponent, not as an underage boy.

Unless there's a benefit worth risking their lives for, the homeless won't choose to be his enemy. In the eyes of other adults, he's a tough nut to crack.

So during the daytime, when the activities of the homeless were frequent and dangerous, Chu Wang would take the other children out in shifts to look for supplies. Relying on his own eyesight, he could always bring back some useful things.

On the morning he met the baby, Chu Wang went to the seemingly endless junkyard to collect trash as usual.

In Chu Wang's fully activated vision, countless dark gray signs representing garbage and waste rapidly crowded and expanded, and the boy, who had been trained for many years, calmly searched for something of value among them.

Just then, in this vast gray ocean, a pure white light flashed by, like sunlight piercing through dark clouds.

Chu Wang, who had grown accustomed to the world's gloom, was stunned. He almost thought he was hallucinating. Until that blindingly bright white reappeared before his eyes, he instinctively rushed towards it.

Layer after layer of thick dark clouds dissipated until there was nothing obstructing his view, at which point the boy stopped, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

At the foot of one of the piles of scrap in the ocean of garbage, a frail baby was curled up in a container that looked like an eggshell, a tiny bundle enveloped in egg white... uh, amniotic fluid?

Her big eyes were filled with tears, and her little mouth was pouting; she looked extremely aggrieved.

A gust of wind blew by, and the baby sneezed, startling himself and bursting into tears.

Chu Wang, who had been staring blankly at the "Lord of ? ?" above her head, finally snapped out of his daze and quickly took off his coat.

The boy was wearing a black leather jacket that he had found. He squatted down next to the eggshell, and just as he was about to wrap the baby up, he worried that the jacket wouldn't be comfortable enough, so he simply took off his own sweatshirt before gently picking her up.
