Chapter 365 - Chapter 366: One Student, Two Classes?

Inside Hagrid's hut, after Lucien finished explaining, Hagrid and the three kids all looked relieved.

So it was just some insider information.

Lucien's mind wandered for a second. Actually… I could probably fake being a prophet if I wanted to. As long as he didn't change too many canon events, he really could "predict the future."

He also thought about his weird resistance to divination. Even the centaurs, who were supposed to be the best at prophecy, couldn't see his future at all.

Did that mean he had zero talent for it? Or maybe the opposite?

Prophecy wasn't something you could just learn…

Hagrid's attention was completely locked on the fact that he was going to be teaching Care of Magical Creatures. He muttered under his breath, "Should I go ask Dumbledore about it…? Would that seem too eager?"

He rubbed his huge hands together, his beetle-black eyes shining as he looked back and forth between them.

"What does a professor even need to prepare? Textbooks? Lesson plans…?"

The idea of actually teaching Hogwarts students had Hagrid buzzing with excitement. The look on his face basically screamed, You guys are gonna take my class, right? Right?

Ron spoke up first. He slapped his chest and promised he was definitely signing up. He was already convinced Care of Magical Creatures was about to become the easiest class in the entire school.

Harry and Hermione quickly agreed they'd take it too.

Lucien set his cup down and smiled. "I'm really looking forward to it."

Though I'll probably have to remind him about safety, he added silently.

Hagrid's taste in "cute" magical creatures was… unique. To a half-giant, a lot of dangerous beasts looked harmless or even adorable. To normal students—especially second- and third-years—that was a very different story.

Still, even putting aside their support for Hagrid, Harry and the others picking the class was a good thing. Plenty of magical dangers in the wizarding world came from creatures. The more they knew, the safer they'd be.

Harry turned to Lucien. "What about you? Which classes are you picking?"

Lucien answered without hesitation. "Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes for sure. I'm still thinking about Divination and Arithmancy."

He was genuinely curious about Divination—mostly to test whether he actually had any talent for it. As for Arithmancy, he didn't know much yet and wanted to see how it compared to the various fortune-telling systems from the Muggle world.

Ron let out a quiet breath of relief. Lucien's choices overlapped perfectly with what he wanted. Especially Ancient Runes—Charlie, Fred, and George had all warned him it was brutal. Now at least he'd have Lucien to ask for help.

Harry still looked uncertain. He'd locked in Care of Magical Creatures, but his second choice was still up in the air. Divination sounded easy, but according to Lucien, Ancient Runes was the foundation for a lot of advanced magic…

Hermione pressed her lips together and asked quietly, "Can we… take all of them?"

Harry and Ron both turned to stare at her in horror.

All of them? Was she serious?

Ron cleared his throat and tried to reason with her. "Uh, Hermione… some of the electives have overlapping times. The schedule just won't work. I mean, one student can't be in two classrooms at the same time, right?"

Lucien's eyes flickered with a strange light.

Actually… he thought, you kind of can.

You just need the right magical little item.
