Chapter 5 - Even death is not allowed to take you from me

Chapter 5

Thane's POV

I stood stiffly by the side of her bed as the royal healer checked her through to know what was the cause of her sudden blackout.

The room was filled up with servants running around frantically and her parents standing to the side, her father the king watching with cold, unyielding eyes and her mother sobbing quietly in the corner, her face twisted with tears and worry.

No one seemed to notice me, and that was because I had used my magic to erase my presence completely.

"Your majesty." The healer spoke as he stood up from where he was kneeling before Ava's bed, his voice shaking slightly.

"Speak." Her father pressed on, he took a step toward the healer and for once I saw care in those deep black cold eyes of his. So he did indeed care about his daughter deeply.

"She has been poisoned and it has spread through the whole of her body and eroded her heart…." The healer stammered as he shook in his tracks, his body being dotted with sweat as his eyebrows quivered in fear.

"Poisoned? How is that even possible, we would address that later, go on to find a cure then and be fast about it, nothing must happen to my daughter." Her father bellowed in the background but all these conversations just seemed to be in the background as I tuned it all out.

"This can't be possible, Prince Allude had not had the chance to use the poison on her, was there someone else who wants her dead I am not aware of?" My track of thought caught off and my heart stilled as I heard the healer's next words.

"I don't know which poison she was fed and hence I can't make a potion to heal her, your majesty, and from the look of things trying different potions is not an option!" The healer cried out as he fell to the floor and pleaded his head hitting the hard carpet repeatedly as he bowed "Please spare my head you majesty!" He cried.

My hands that were folded in front of me fell to my side as I closed the gap between me and Ava who was lying motionless on her bed, her face devoid of blood and was ashen white.

My hands spread out on top of her head as I activated my magic and red whips of energy spread out from my fingertips as my eyes turned deep red and my tattoos became visible showing my true nature of a hybrid.

My eyes snapped open as my magic disappeared. "This is no good…" my eyes flickered around as I tried to think hard, with the condition of her body it was not sure if she would make it past tonight.

My mind rushed to find a vampire to turn her so she could be able to fight the poison but her body wasn't exactly stable now and doing that would just turn her into a rogue.

The room seemed to grow darker as I stood there, and for the first time I felt that small spark of fear in my heart, fear of losing my mate again. If she died now she would not be able to reincinate again.

"Oh heavens, do something, your majesty!!!" I heard Ava's mother shrill gasp in desperation, and I spun around to face Ava, just to come in contact with her body jerking up from her bed repeatedly as blood splashed out of her mouth, staining the side of her mouth as it dropped onto the bed.

Blood slipped from her nose and ears and the sides of her eyes as her body spasmed violently, and it all felt like I was watching something out of a horror movie as my chest tightened.

"No." I gasped, feeling my heart squeezing hard in my chest as my Lycan roared in my head and my magic went haywire.

My hand raised up to my chest, and my claws protruded as I stabbed deep into my heart and pulled out.

My blood splashed out from the wound, and my fingers danced, conjuring a cup in my hand as the blood dripped into the cup, staining the sides of the cup red.

The wound soon healed, and I walked closer to Ava, the bed dipping as I sat beside her and raised my hand with the cup up above her and poured it, and then controlled my magic.

I slowly controlled the blood to where her heart was and watched it sink throughout her clothing and her skin directly to her heart.

Her spasming body slowed down, and the chaos in the room seemed to stop as the healer was rushed to check her condition.

"She is stable for now, your majesty," the healer stammered.

"This will slow the process for a few hours, I should be able to find a solution soon enough." I whispered to Ava as I pulled her hair from her face and stood up from the bed, my back to the room, as I hopped out the window and landed firmly on the ground.

"I own you, Ava, even death is not allowed to take you from my grasp a second time." I said, more like a vow to the empty air, as I sped forward, the surrounding turning into a blur.

The wind rushed past me, whipping my hair back and forth as I disappeared into the night, my only thought was doing everything and anything to save the life of my mate.
