Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Also Very..Worth It

After accepting his invitation, they both got into the car.

The car glided smoothly through the roads covered in pale yellow lights. In the cabin, the scent of new leather mixed with the elegant scent of her hair made the atmosphere quiet and difficult to describe.

Lin Zeyun glanced at the person sitting next to her. She was still silent, her eyes looking out the window, her face expressionless. He coughed lightly, and was the first to speak:

"Have you been in this industry for a long time? The way you handled things at the company today… really impressed me."

His voice was warm and calm, without any forced socializing.

Ruo Yuxi heard this, tilted her head slightly to look at him, her eyes softened slightly:

"It's okay. I've done it a lot, so I'm used to it."

The answer was short but enough to make him smile. She was still as cold as ever, but at this close distance, he felt a bit of fatigue in that coldness, and something… hard to reach.

The car drove a little further, only the sound of the engine remained. Ruo Yuxi suddenly remembered something, so she took out a file from her pocket and handed it to him:

"Oh, right. If possible, can you help me investigate the person in this episode?"

Lin Zeyun held the steering wheel with one hand, and reached out to take the file with the other, glancing at it briefly.

He frowned:

"Um… okay. But why do you want to investigate this person? Is there something wrong?"

After asking, he tilted his head to look at her. The streetlights reflected in the mirror, making his eyes even deeper and more unpredictable.

Ruo Yuxi was a little silent, her voice lowered:

"Nothing."

The answer was simple and dry, but it hid a layer of emotion that was hard for outsiders to see through.

Lin Zeyun didn't ask any more. After working together for a while, he seemed to understand that she wasn't the type of person who was easy to share with. She liked to keep everything to herself, even the hurt.

He just softly said "hmm" and continued driving.

The two of them were silent, only the sound of wind and lights flashing on the windows. He occasionally glanced over and saw her leaning her head against the seat, her eyes half-closed as if she was thinking about something far away, her lips slightly curved, strangely beautiful in the dim light.

The car stopped in front of a quiet villa in a high-class neighborhood.

Lin Zeyun got out of the car first and opened the door for her.

"You can rest here for now. There's only me in the house, so you can be comfortable."

She nodded slightly. The house was large and clean to the point of being a bit cold.

Lin Zeyun led her to the second floor and pointed to the room on the right:

"This room is empty, you can rest here. I'll go get some clean clothes for you to change into."

"Thank you," she replied, her voice still calm, but her eyes that swept past him wavered slightly.

He smiled and turned away. As the door closed, Vu Hy let out a long breath, her eyes softening slightly. She sat down on the edge of the bed, her fingers unconsciously stroking a few strands of hair that were still wet with dew, then she also stood up and walked towards the bathroom.

A moment later, he entered the room, looked around and thought:

"Did she take a shower?"

Then he also slowly walked towards the bathroom door, thought for a moment, then knocked on the door and spoke in a low and hoarse voice:

"I'll leave my clothes in front of the door."

She opened the door. At that moment, Lam Trach Van happened to be leaning against the door. The door swung open, the distance between the two of them was so close that their breaths mingled.

In a split second, she was startled and stepped back, her feet slipping on the thick carpet.

He reflexively reached out to support her but lost his balance and fell forward.

A soft "thud" sounded.

His body collapsed, her chest hitting his. The faint scent of flesh rushed over.

Nhược Vũ Hy only had time to gasp for air, her entire body stiffening. She was only wrapped in a thin towel, the steam still lingering on her shoulders, her smooth white skin shining under the light made the atmosphere even more ambiguous and unbelievable.

His face was pressed against that soft chest. The whole world seemed to stop for a few seconds.

The space was so quiet that the two people's heartbeats could be heard.

Nhược Vũ Hy was the first to come back to her senses. Her face was red, her eyes flashed with anger:

"You pervert! You... why don't you get away from me?!"

A slap landed on his cheek, resounding decisively.

Lâm Trạch Vân was stunned for a few seconds, then quickly stood up, her face red as a boiled shrimp:

"S... sorry! I didn't mean it!"

He stumbled, and as he spoke, he quickly backed out, slamming the door, not daring to look back.

Inside, after he left, Nhược Vũ Hy's expression suddenly changed from shy to cold as before.

She bent down to pick up the towel that had fallen beside her, lightly dusted it off, and muttered, "What an idiot."

Her voice was light, it was unclear whether she was talking about him or mocking herself.

She sat down on the bed, her eyes slightly distant. In the quiet, dry roomThe space suddenly became soft.

Suddenly, in the middle of the air, a small halo of light appeared, flashed a few times, and then turned into the familiar 101 system.

"Host! You are really good!"

Ruo Yu Xi tilted her head slightly, revealing a half smile:

"Is that so..?"

After speaking, she lowered her head, her voice low, as light as a breeze:

"But… to be honest, I don't like the situations just now to happen again…because it makes me feel terrible."

101 replied to the mechanical voice that rang out: "Oh, so host doesn't want to do the mission anymore? So host doesn't want to go home anymore?"

She looked at it thoughtfully and then smiled slightly, a smile that was somewhat self-mocking and somewhat bitter: "Ha...of course, I gained that guy's trust, and then I thought about it and realized that if I could return home after being like this...it would be worth it."

System 101 was silent for a few seconds, the light flickering weakly.

The moonlight outside the window shone in, covering her face with a layer of soft light.

Those eyes, when looking out into the distance, were both beautiful and lonely like a rose hidden in the night, both carrying a seductive scent and color, and hiding unspeakable sadness.
