The morning sun had fully receded, leaving the stage for the afternoon glow to take over. Yet still, the air around Maison de la Croix remained calm, peaceful, and beautifully still—except for the two quiet figures stepping out of the grand double doors of the mansion.
Sebastian and Kairen.
Breakfast had ended a while ago, and now it was time for Sebastian to begin his chauffeur duties. Joe had already parked the car in front of the mansion, engine polished and waiting, gleaming faintly under the pale gold light that dripped across the marble driveway.
Sebastian looked like he'd rather walk through fire. His irritation wasn't hidden—it radiated from him like heat from asphalt. Each step he took was heavy, reluctant, full of the bitter strength of a traditional husband forced to do Gen Z chores.
Every movement screamed: I don't wanna do this.
