Celestial Weave was stunned. She hadn't expected the trainer to be so negative.
"But isn't your father still working hard to maintain this place?"
Hearing her mention her father, Chizuru's expression darkened. "That's why he's an idiot."
"Who else would care about a place like this? Ken Sato is just here to slack off. And those horse girls, besides Oguri Roman and Ansho Suzune, they don't even go to class much."
"And now Oguri Roman has left. Can you imagine a classroom with only one teacher talking to one student?"
"A place like this, how can it even be called a school?"
"It's just a place for us abandoned people to stay."
As she spoke, the spirit she had just mustered was already exhausted. Her eyes sank back into their dark circles. Just as she was about to wave her hand and leave, she was suddenly grabbed.
"Haven't you ever thought of trying again?!"
Her body stiffened. She turned her head and saw a strange light burning in her new student's dark eyes. Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she just laughed self-deprecatingly. "That's why I told you to leave. A person like you is not suitable for this place."
"What about the principal? And Oguri Roman? Aren't they from here too?!"
"And Ansho Suzune, have you ever tried to understand her? She knows all about horse girl equipment. Is that what you call giving up?!"
Looking at her, Chizuru was in a daze for a moment, as if she were back in the summer when she had just been accepted to the central academy, still believing in hope and dreams. But she looked down and saw not the smartly dressed trainer of that time, but a sloppy woman in sportswear, holding not a training log, but a bag of snacks. Everything was in the past. The shining Chizuru Haihara had already disappeared from her memory.
She shook off her hand and said in a cold, indifferent tone, "I really don't know what Suzune is doing. But so what? If she had the courage to move forward, would she still be here?"
"As for the old man... if it weren't for Oguri Roman giving him hope, he would have probably given up long ago. What's the point of playing the good principal game here?"
"After Oguri Roman goes to the central circuit, this place will probably go back to being lifeless again, until one day they can't find any new students!"
"A shining person like you should hurry to the sky that belongs to you. Don't stay in these ruins and waste your time with the rubble!"
With that, she turned her back to her and walked straight towards the school building. Behind her nearly fleeing figure, she pressed her lips together and stared at her silently.
The problems at this academy were more serious than she had imagined. When she had only met the principal and Suzune, she had thought the place was just unreliable due to a lack of manpower. It was only after confronting Chizuru that she began to understand.
After watching her leave, she started running on the track again. A strange emotion was stirring in her heart, but she couldn't yet understand what it was. She could only vent it through running again and again.
Time flew by. When she returned to the dorm, she happened to see Suzune waving at her in front of the cafeteria. Her stomach was already rumbling, so she went straight over.
Following her into the cafeteria, she saw that there were only a few half-eaten dishes left, and a bowl of rice that was only a third full on the table. "The school's meals are usually bought by Sato-sensei, and then we take turns cooking."
"You came a little late, so everyone has already eaten. The food doesn't look very nice," Suzune said, scratching her head, embarrassed. "But today's food was really delicious! Don't be fooled by Minamino Sumire's appearance, she's actually a pretty good cook!"

"You don't have to go to the trouble. I'm not some pampered kid." Taking the plates from her, she served herself and started eating.
And Suzune didn't leave. She brought a stool and sat beside her, smiling foolishly as she watched her eat.
The food gradually filled her empty stomach, but she still felt very irritable, as if something was missing. After quickly finishing her dinner, she refused Suzune's offer and helped her wash the dishes and clean the tables. After returning to the dorm and taking a shower, Suzune said goodnight to her at her door and left.
Alone again, she let out a long sigh. Looking at the almost bare, empty room, the inexplicable irritability in her heart almost made her want to throw a tantrum. But she quickly suppressed the discomfort and forced herself to lie down and sleep.
A long day passed. In the following days, she went to class with Suzune and got used to the dirt track. During this time, she also met the only member she hadn't met yet, Ken Sato, who, as his name suggested, was an ordinary young man. It was a perfectly ordinary daily life, but for some reason, she felt more and more irritable.
Until the day before her scheduled debut race. When she got up and left the dorm, she found that it was empty. Confused, she wandered around the campus and finally saw a crowd gathered at the school gate.
In the crowd, she saw Suzune, Sumire, Kaze, Makikusa, Principal Haihara, Chizuru, and Ken Sato. Everyone from Kasamatsu Tracen—was gathered here.
In the center of the crowd, an ash-haired horse girl's ears drooped listlessly. Her face was filled with frustration and regret, tears welling up in her eyes, about to fall to the ground at any second. She turned her gaze to the others. They all had the same gloomy expression.
"I'm sorry, everyone... the Shunen Stakes... I lost..." the surrounded horse girl whispered, almost breaking down. The oppressive atmosphere weighed down on everyone like a lead weight, making it hard to breathe.
Oguri Roman, the only debuted horse girl at Kasamatsu Tracen, the only one with a chance of making it to the central circuit. As the only one with a dream in this ruin, carrying the hopes of everyone—had failed.
