Kevin Atienza
I arrived at the love hotel, I approached the receptionist and inquired about the order for the cake and coffees. The receptionist directed me to room 69 on the 6th floor and asked me to deliver it personally. I thanked her and headed for the elevator.
As I ascended to the 6th floor, my nerves began to tingle. I couldn't help but wonder who the customer was and what awaited me behind that hotel room door. I found the room number easily and knocked, waiting for a response.
The door slowly opened, and to my shock, there stood Elvie, draped in a bathrobe. My heart sank as I struggled to process the sight before me. But what truly ignited my anger was the presence of an older man, similarly attired in a bathrobe, standing beside her.
"How much for the food?" asked the old man.
I couldn't contain my rage any longer. Without thinking, I hurled the cake and coffees into the room, my anger boiling over. "What the hell are you doing here, Elvie? And who the hell is this old man?" I practically shouted, my voice laced with anger and hurt.
Elvie rolled her eyes, her voice dripping with condescension. "Kevin, we've broken up. What I do now is none of your business," she retorted, her tone sharp and biting. As I reached out to grab her arm, she pulled away forcefully.
"And this man," she continued, her voice dripping with contempt, "he's my Sugar Daddy. He gives me everything you never could because you're poor, useless, and utterly worthless."
I stood there, stunned and devastated by her words. I didn't want to cause a scene or make any more trouble, so I turned and walked away, my heart heavy with the weight of Elvie's betrayal and cruelty. I couldn't believe what had just transpired, and the pain was almost unbearable.
I returned to the coffee shop, my eyes red and swollen from the tears I couldn't hold back. Lily, noticed my distressed state and approached me with a concerned look.
"Kevin, what happened? Why are you crying?" she asked gently, her voice filled with compassion.
I took a deep breath and tried to steady my trembling voice as I explained everything. "Lily, I... I just went to make a delivery, and when I got there, I found my girlfriend Elvie in a bathrobe with an old man. She told me we're done and that he's her Sugar Daddy. She said... she said I was poor, useless, and worthless."
Lily's expression shifted from concern to sympathy as she listened to my story. She reached out and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Kevin," she said softly. "You're none of those things she said. You're a hardworking and kind person. Don't let her words define you."
Her words offered me some solace, and I managed a weak smile, though my heart was still heavy with pain. "Thanks, Lily. It means a lot to me that you're here."
Lily nodded and gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Anytime, Kevin. We're like family here, and we look out for each other."
With Lily's support, I wiped away my tears and resolved to focus on rebuilding my life, free from the hurtful words and betrayals of the past.
With a heavy heart, I continued my work at the café, trying my best to push the painful encounter with Elvie to the back of my mind. The memory of her hurtful words still stung, but I couldn't let it consume me. Instead, I focused on my tasks, determined to stay busy and keep my mind occupied.
After a while, I realized that I had forgotten to collect payment for the delivery I had made earlier. I approached Lily, my voice trembling as I asked her to deduct the amount from my salary. She smiled at me, understanding the turmoil I was going through.
"Of course, Kevin," she said softly. "Take all the time you need, and don't worry about the payment. We're here for you."
Her kindness warmed my heart, and I was grateful to have found solace in this small coffee shop. It was a place where I felt accepted and supported, a stark contrast to the harsh words Elvie had thrown at me.
As I continued to work, I made a silent promise to myself that I wouldn't let Elvie's hurtful comments define my worth. I needed to focus on rebuilding my life and finding my own path, one that didn't involve the toxicity of the past.
One month had passed, and I had settled into my routine at the café. The daily grind of work helped keep my mind off my personal troubles, even though the pain from my recent breakup with Elvie still lingered. That day, I was outside cleaning the glass window when fate took an unexpected turn.
I heard a deafening screech, followed by a loud crash. My heart raced as I turned toward the source of the commotion. There, just in front of the café, was a mangled car wreck. Panic surged through me as I rushed to the scene. The sight that greeted me was horrifying.
A middle-aged man lay unconscious, his body covered in blood. His driver, equally injured, was in no condition to help. Time was of the essence, and I knew I needed to act fast.
I tried to open the car door, but it was jammed shut. Frustration and fear welled up inside me as I desperately pulled on the handle. Every second counted, and I couldn't afford to lose any more time. Then, it dawned on me—I needed help.
Without hesitation, I sprinted back into the café, searching for Lily. "Lily!" I called out urgently. "I need your help. There's been a terrible accident outside."
She didn't waste a second. Lily grabbed her car keys and followed me outside. We rushed to her car, and she took the wheel with determination. I climbed into the backseat, careful not to jostle the injured men.
Lily sped through the chaotic streets, expertly maneuvering through traffic to get us to the nearest hospital as quickly as possible. The injured men's lives depended on it.
As we approached the hospital's emergency entrance, medical staff rushed out to assist us. Lily and I helped them carry the injured men inside, where the hospital team took over from there. Finally, I could catch my breath.
