Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 – Unseen Enemy

The city had returned to its usual rhythm—or at least, it appeared so. From above, the neon lights glittered like scattered jewels, masking the danger that moved silently in the shadows. Kai and Lira, now more cautious than ever, knew that the organization didn't just attack with force—they planned, they observed, and they struck when least expected.

Kai stood by the window, scanning the streets below. "They're close," he murmured. His hand brushed the hilt of his blade instinctively. "I can feel it."

Lira, sitting behind him, tightened her grip on his arm. "We've faced them before… we can handle it again."

Kai glanced at her, the crimson glow in his eyes flaring faintly. "This time, it won't be just a few operatives. Whoever comes… they'll be precise, silent, deadly."

---

The First Sign

The quiet was broken by a subtle shift—a shadow moving unnaturally along the rooftops. Kai's senses went on high alert. "There," he whispered, pointing toward the flicker.

Before Lira could react, a small explosive device detonated near the front of the building. The shockwave sent shards of glass scattering, and both of them were thrown off balance.

"They're testing us," Kai growled, recovering quickly. His eyes scanned every rooftop, every alley, searching for movement.

Coordinated Strike

From the shadows, multiple figures emerged—silent, armed, and deadly. But unlike before, they didn't attack directly. Instead, they moved with perfect coordination, cutting off exits and creating traps to corral Kai and Lira.

Lira gripped a metal pipe, her heart pounding. "Kai… this is different. They're organized… like they know our every move."

Kai's jaw clenched. "They do. Raven's not just a fighter—he's a strategist. Every strike we've faced so far… it was preparation for this moment."

The enemy operatives closed in, and Kai's crimson glow flared fiercely. He moved like a storm unleashed, striking down one attacker after another. But the numbers were overwhelming, and even his strength had limits.

Lira Steps Forward

Seeing Kai surrounded, Lira's resolve ignited. "I'm not staying behind this time," she shouted, rushing into the fray. She blocked an incoming strike, countered with precision, and helped Kai regain control of the battlefield.

Kai glanced at her, eyes flickering with admiration. "You… you're incredible."

"I promised," Lira said, a fierce smile on her face. "I fight with you. Always."

Together, they moved as one—Kai's raw strength complemented by Lira's quick thinking and agility. The operatives were forced to retreat, their coordinated attack failing in the face of their unity.

The Warning

As the last operative fell, a communicator crackled from the shadows. Raven's voice, cold and menacing, filled the air.

"You've done well to survive this far, Kai. But the real game… has just begun. Protect her, if you can."

Kai's fists clenched. "We will. No matter what it takes."

Lira rested her hand on his arm. "We face it together… right?"

Kai's crimson eyes softened. "Together. Always."

Outside, the city's neon lights flickered, reflecting the shadows that still lurked, waiting for the next move. The unseen enemy had been revealed, and the battle for survival—and for love—was far from over.
