Chapter 4 - Chapter - 4: What Would You Call A Day Like This?

I came back to my room, storming. I was angry but more tired. Even though I wanted to yell at a certain someone. But I didn't have the energy to do so. I looked outside my window. It was pretty dark. I didn't realise how much time had passed.

" haaah. " I sighted, it was a pretty hectic day. The only thing that I wanted to do was to lie in bed and get lost in the world of dreams. And please, PLEASE do not wake me up for at least two to three days. Especially a creature made of tin, or I will commit murder.

"Clovy! What happened? Looks like you are coming from a battlefield." A worried voice echoed in my ears.

I miched my eyes. Why does Ma hate me so much? The thing that I don't want to see right now is standing in front of me and asking an obvious question. Honestly, I am going to burst from anger.

" Because I am coming from a battle, and it was very intense. And you know what's even worse, that someone whose first words were to always remain present wherever and whenever I need him LEFT ME ALONE." I found myself suddenly shouting.

" It wasn't intentional," Yaan said in a meek voice.

"OHHH YES! I FORGOT THAT WHAT YOU DO IS JUST A MISTAKE. DO YOU HAVE A..."

"Calm down, Clovy or Mrs. Claws will scold you," Yaan said in a worried voice.

I calmed myself down and began again. "DO YOU HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA HOW HARD IT WAS TO DO EVERYTHING ALL ALONE? FROM DIGGING CHANNELS TO CONTROL THE FLOW OF WATER TO DIRTING MY HANDS IN THE PIT OF FER- FER- FERTILIZER. UNGH, AUAH, BULEH, EVEN THINKING ABOUT THAT IS MAKING ME FEEL LIKE VOMITING. I HAVE TO FENCE THE WHOLE GARDEN ALONE. JUST BECAUSE A SON OF... "

"UNAUN,! Before you say any inappropriate words, let me just remind you that you are my mother, technically."

"UAGH AAAAA, JUST BECAUSE YOU FORGOT TO CHARGE YOURSELF."

"Hey, it wasn't my fault. You are my creator; shouldn't you take care of things like charging me? Besides, I think it was a good thing. At least for a change, you did something by yourself after a long time, and as your mother said, you have become way more dependent on me."

"OOOOOHOO,! I THOUGHT YOU WERE A ROBOT WITH CONSCIOUSNESS AND CAN DO EVERYTHING WITHOUT FAIL, AND YOU- YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT DEPENDENCY. I CAN'T DEPEND UPON YOU EVEN A BIT. HOW COULD YOU FORGET TO GIVE MOTHER MY LIST OF THINGS THAT I WOULD NEED THROUGH THE SEEEASONNNN?" I yelled.

" F- fine, I forgot." He said while admitting his mistake. "But please, Clovy, calm down or... "

"I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME AGAIN AND AGAIN". I frowned my face. I almost started crying. "Yu- you dhon'th know I have to go to the market in this ghetup." I was covered in mud from top to bottom, and to be honest, it wasn't just mud. My hair was sticking out from my two pigtails like lightning struck me, and when I said I went out like this, I wasn't joking. When my mother found out that there weren't any of my things in the stockpile when we were shifting them into the garage. She made me run like this and even yelled at me.

"Seems like karma is a real thing," Yaan murmured.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?"

"N-NO, nothing," he stammered a bit." I just said that before hitting the bed, you should clean yourself, or Ms. Claws will yell at you even more."

"NO I AM PRE......."

"HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS? HOW COULD YOU BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE?"

We heard Mother's voice thunder. It meant just one thing: Father was back.

"HO-NEY LI-STEN, IT WASN'T M-Y INTENTION." I could feel the horror in Dad's voice. He was done for.

"INTENTION!" Mother scoffed. "OF COURSE, YOU ARE JUST LIKE YOUR DAUGHTER."

"W- WHICH ONE?"

I would not be asking a question like that in a situation like that. Very poor choice of words. I am very disappointed in you, Dad.

"THE YOUNGER ONE." Mother roared. Honestly, I can imagine how Mother would have looked at Dad while shouting at him. "ONE FORGOT HER LIST AND ONE. ONE FORGOT THAT HIS WIFE EXISTS."

"I I AM SORRY."

"I DON'T NEED YOUR SORRY. TONIGHT YOU ARE SLEEPING ON THE COUCH."

BAM! Came the voice, probably of Mother shutting the door of her room. Thank God I already ate dinner.

I looked toward Yaan and said. "I-I will go and sanitise myself."

"The best choice you ever made."

After a while, I changed my clothes and was ready to sleep for the entire LIZ month when the same irritable voice hit my ears.

"WAIT!"

I miched my eyes again." NOW, WHAT IS IHT?" I grided.

"Where is the report?" Yaan asked.

"What report?"

"The report of the chip that I gave you this morning. Don't tell me you forgot."

"What chip?" My brain was not working, and neither were my eyes. I was looking at Yaan with half-open eyes because of how tired I was. Then I suddenly remembered. "OOOH! That one, I forgot to make a report about it. Don't worry, I will make it tomorrow."

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? MAKE IT TOMORROW. HOW CAN YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT? AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A SPACE ENTHUSIAST. ARE YOU EVEN SERIOUS ABOUT THIS? You know that I like to keep my data updated, so how could you forget to write it?" Yaan said with obviousness in his voice.

"Like this," I said jokingly." Now, look, I am very tired; it doesn't have anything to do with me being a space enthusiast. My brain is not working, and I don't have the power to do that right now. So please wait till morning, besides, I don't think there would be anything for you to update, like the last four years. So let me sleep."

"NO, I want the report now, I don't like outdated data in my software, and I won't let you sleep till you make the report." Yaan started throwing a tantrum and making random noises to annoy me, and it worked.

"Stop acting like a child." By now, I was fully awake.

"But I am just five years old." He said in an innocent voice. "And I will not stop till you make the report." He made himself ready to start making the noise again, but before he could start, I stopped him.

"No, stop, I will make it, but please stop, or you will wake the whole town up."

"Hehe." He laughed. I gave him a sharp look that said there is nothing funny about this.

I sat at my study table, took out my watch, and started reading the summary.

As expected, there was nothing in there. I want to read it quickly; all this reading is making my head throb and my eyes become even heavier as time passes.

'Strange activity was detected in the outer layer of the solar system and the sighting of a UFO which is coming toward the planet Hampa and will enter its atmosphere in a few hours.' See nothing important.

I smile with my eyes closed, like a fool while reading this and then I suddenly realize what the heck I just read.

My eyes widened and I again read the line. It must be a mistake, it has to be a mistake but the report was made by an advanced A.I. It cannot be a mistake. Maybe Yaan was playing a prank on me that's why he was so eager for me to make the report. Of course, this has to be the explanation for this.

This was made hours ago by now it should have entered the atmosphere but it didn't. Let me confront Yaan for playing such a prank on me.

Halfway through twisting my chair, before I could say anything, I saw a white light pass through the corner of my eyes from my window making its way toward the ground. I stared at it like a fool and was hoping it was not true.
