Chapter 3 - The strange woman.

Nora, Jayden and Chrystal picking up their scraps back. They had to go back to the town before they crossed another monster.

Lyn, the strange woman, just stood there and watching them silently with her hands on her back.

'This is so awkward.'

Nora straightened his back while carrying his scraps then turned to face Lyn. He decided to start a converstation to ease the tension.

"Uhm, Lyn– Ms. Lyn, how did you know the monster earlier won't attack us if we didn't move?"

"Lyn is alright and the monster is stupid despite being big with alot of eyes. Its hearing is bad and its eyes has a problem. So, yeah, as long as you don't move, it will treat you as a thing."

Jayden who listened to their conversation butted in.

"You know alot of things. Are you sure you're not a Paganin?"

Lyn chuckled.

"I do not lie."

She closed her mouth and glancing up, looking like she was thinking.

"How about I tell you something you wanna know? Ask me. I don't mind doing the favor for that rascal."

'That rascal? Lyn sure is a strange woman.'

But anyway, with a lot that happened in such a short time, Nora wasn't planning to waste this chance.

"Then first, where are you form?"

"This continent."

"Huh?"

Nora, Jayden and Chrystal was taken aback by Lyn answer. They blinked comically then the two who listened threw Nora a judgemental look. Nora cried mentally.

'Wait, I didn't expect it would came out like that too.'

Nora stratched his head in embarassment.

"Uhm, care to elaborate?"

Lyn smiled and stared at the three youngster in front of her.

"How about we talk as we walk? You guys want to go back home, right?"

Now that Lyn mentioned it, the three of them looked up at the sky. Its already night and since their awakening enhanced their vision, they have no problem seeing in the dark like this. But that also meant, Lyn is also an awakened like them. She seemed alright in the dark.

"Alright then."

Nora started walking with the other two. Lyn followed them and begin talking again.

"So, if you asked about Lyn origin it would be this place. This land had so many town back then and Lyn belong to one of it."

Nora smiled awkwardly while listening to Lyn.

'Is she someone who sometimes refer of herself in third person?'

Chrystal who listened quietly since earlier begin to voicing her curiousity.

"Then where were you after that?"

"The new centrals of humanity, the Espoir."

The three of them asked in sync.

"The Espoir?"

"Yes, the Espoir, the humanity last hope. There are Three of them: Southern Espoir, Northern Espoir, and Central Espoir. They build it after the war with Xandorath Order's help, the Paganin. These three centrals are connected with each other and under the goverment of each repesentative of the area."

Jayden was taken aback.

"Wait, the Paganin help? The Xando... what?"

"Xandorath Order. The Order under the Holiness."

Chrystal ears perked up at the new terms.

"The Holiness? Who is it?"

Lyn closed her mouth and pulled her lips into a straight line of smile. Her deep black eyes stared at them somewhat pitiful.

"So, you guys really know nothing."

"Just answer!"

Lyn barked a laugh.

"Alright, alright, apologize. So, the Holiness is one of the pillar of this world. There is only two pillars today and The Holiness is the strongest one among the two, who govern all of the Paganin and live over there."

Nora and the other two followed Lyn's hand as she pointed far towards the silhouette of the flying island. They shut their mouth and keep listening to Lyn explaination.

"Though, the Holiness rarely come home because they have to guard the world."

This time, Nora was the one to ask.

"Guard the world from what?"

Lyn didn't immediatelly answer. She just keep walking while still looking at the flying island's silhouette. She then tore her gaze from it and looked at Nora.

"If you want to know more then come to the Espoir."

Seemed like so. There is no way Lyn would spill all the information to a nobody like Nora.

"And you want to know how to use your power, no? Then you have more reason to come."

The three youngsters clears their throat awkwardly.

Chrystal then murmured.

"But, we can't just go and leave the people of the town."

Lyn who unexpectedly heard that answer immediately.

"You can bring them with you later."

"Yes, we can– huh? What?"

Chrystal stared at Lyn in disbelief then opened and closed her mouth a few times.

"We can do that?"

Lyn shrugged.

"Why not? The Espoir will be more than glad to know there is more human survived out there."

If they're so glad then why don't they come and look for us?

Is what Nora wanted to say but decided to keep it himself. He bet Lyn would say, there is a reason for that or something like that.

Having a long conversation sure make time flew quicker. Before they know it, they already arrived at the town. Uncle Bud who stood on guard at the town entrance looked at them like blood has been drained from his body. He quickly approached them and checked their bodies if they had a wound.

"Goodness! You guys still outside at this time?! Are you hurt? Did you guys meet a monsters on your way?"

Nora chuckled dryly, feeling sorry for the older man.

"No Uncle. We're not hurt thanks to Lyn."

"Lyn?"

Nora threw a glance towards Chrystal and Chrystal immediately pulled Lyn's arm and introduced her to Uncle Bud.

"This is Lyn. She is the one who bring us back."

"Hello."

Uncle Bud stared at Lyn who is smiling like an idiot then look at Chrystal, Jayden, Nora, then back to Lyn.

He straightened his back and greated Lyn.

"Yes, hello. Thank you for bringing the kids back."

"No worries."

Lyn turn her head to looked at the three.

"Since you all made it safe, i'm going then."

Uncle Bud was taken a back and immediately stopped her.

"W-wait, you don't have to go. You can stay at the town if you don't mind."

Lyn smiled and languidly raise her thumb to point at her back.

"Thank you for the offer but I still have work to do."

Uncle Bud and the three blinked. Nora opened his mouth and asked.

"Are you hunting the monsters?"

"Hm, yeah."

"I see."

Lyn looked at the three and slowly turned around.

"I will be back tomorrow. I need to hear your answer, no?"

Nora knitted his brow as he saw Lyn walking away then remember her words about coming to the Espoir.

"Ah, is that an invitation?"

Jayden butted in.

"I don't remember she ever asked us to?"

Chrystal added,

"She is strange indeed."

The three of them watched as Lyn's figure slowly disappeared into the night.
