"You're asking me to threaten resignation just because you can't monopolize their attention?" I stared at Amara in disbelief.
"Exactly! Don't stress about it, Sis. That company needs you desperately, doesn't it? Carlos won't let his Chief Editor walk away—you're practically keeping the whole operation alive," Amara declared with confidence.
The audacity of her demand left me speechless. Never had I encountered such an absurd request from her, and I had zero intention of entertaining this nonsense.
"What happens when he decides to replace me with someone else? Have you forgotten this is my only source of income? Do you think finding work at my age is some kind of joke?"
"Stop being so theatrical," Amara scoffed dismissively. "You've got brains and work yourself to death giving me whatever I desire. Landing another position shouldn't be rocket science for you, right?"
