Carlos's POV
I frowned. This had to be the most ridiculous and senseless excuse I'd ever heard. Not even a child would buy such nonsense.
Yet Amara put on her best innocent act, widening her eyes like a helpless deer while trying to look like some pitiful little kitten, desperately hoping Andrew and I would swallow her lies.
I was ready to call out her pathetic performance, but then I spotted Grace standing behind Amara. Her sharp glare cut right through me, a clear warning not to do anything stupid that might upset Amara.
I swallowed hard. This whole charade made my skin crawl, and I couldn't wait to ship that manipulative witch off to her frozen grave. But I had no choice but to play along, or everything would fall apart.
So I gave a reluctant nod. "I understand. I believe you, Miss Ian."
