The water trickled from the sink as Dravin rinsed his mouth after brushing his teeth. He wiped the mirror that was fogged up from the hot steam of his shower.
The reflection of a dark gray-eyed man stared back at him, deep in contemplation.
He then ran his fingers through his short, thick black hair. He was most grateful that his face was still the same in this new world, with the familiar sharp nose and defined jawline.
While putting on his shirt, Dravin felt his arm and stomach muscles were a bit flabby and not as firm as they were in his past life.
Well, he needed to get back in shape.
After stepping out of the bathroom, his gaze immediately fell on the open window, as his single bed was right in front of the bathroom door.
The sun was getting higher, and its warmth was beginning to seep in.
This world had the same time dimensions as the Earth he came from.
It also had the same geographical characteristics, even though the continents' shapes weren't the same.
Based on his memory of his geography lessons, the continents in this world were called territories, and Dravin was currently in the Vitaronia territory.
And Vitaronia was the only landmass with normal human life.
Well, he wouldn't even say this society was normal because of the lack of joy in life itself. That's the most distinct difference from Earth.
Dravin blinked three times in quick succession to summon the translucent blue screen showing his stats and task list.
His index finger hovered, ready to slide up the screen. Rubby had given him two tasks to complete while it was in maintenance, which meant it wouldn't be there to guide him.
He frowned as he read the first task.
Greeting the co-worker hunter with a good food
Rewards: 10k Goldin and 5k coins
If your co-worker is satisfied with the food you cooked, they could give you tips at a maximum of 10 times your reward.
If your co-worker is unsatisfied, you will get half of the rewards promised.>
A bitter smile played on Dravin's lips. The given reward was equivalent to his low-class living expenses for two months. But what made him cynical was the potential tip.
How rich is he that he could give a year's worth of low-class living costs as a satisfaction tip? Well, I'll find out soon. I hope he's not more handsome than me.
Dravin's finger slid up again to view the next task.
Making a blueprint of this month's target operation
Rewards: 1k Goldin and 500 coins
Do not bicker and please reach an agreement for both parties quickly.
Will add 0.5% progress to the NuLife Balance System.>
The frown on his brow tightened. This second task seemed more difficult than the first. But why were the rewards so much smaller?
Well, maybe this is just a simple meeting. Not bad… no one can resist my food so far.
Dravin smiled confidently and waved his palm, making the blue screen disappear.
Rubby had said it didn't know which hunter would be assigned to him, so Dravin couldn't gather any information about his co-worker's favorite food. He had to rely on his gut.
After tossing his towel into the dirty laundry hamper, Dravin walked to the kitchen, which was located right after his bed. He planned to move to a new apartment if he managed to get that maximum tip.
He took a large trash bag from the cupboard and opened the fridge. He quickly emptied its entire contents into the bag.
He didn't need to check if anything was still edible because, to him, everything inside was garbage: various kinds of liquor, canned drinks with artificial sweeteners, and a wide array of cheap fast food, all with different colors and ages of mold living on them.
Rubby said his hunter co-worker would come meet him around 8 p.m. So, he still had seven hours to prepare the welcoming meal.
Not only did he clear out the food in the fridge, but he also cleared out the supplies on the racks near the stove and in the top cupboards.
As a chef, throwing away food like this without checking if it was still good went against his professional ethics.
But he knew. The old Dravin of this world hadn't cared about what was in his kitchen for the last six months since breaking up with his ex.
I changed once, so I'll change this Dravin to become greater than my old self. Yeah… that shouldn't be hard.
After filling two large bags of trash, Dravin started cleaning his small kitchen, which only had a single-burner stove.
It had been so long since he'd seen this old model of a gas stove with a refilled tank. He smiled bitterly.
He washed all the dirty dishes, wiped down the inside of the fridge, and even went on to mop the entire apartment floor, feeling it was a waste to just clean the kitchen area. His energy was always on fire when he was cleaning.
Dravin drank two glasses of tap water after he was done.
While wiping away his sweat, he grabbed his phone and opened a search engine to find information about demon hunters. But he found nothing, just as he had expected.
Even though he already knew in his mind, seeing it himself, with the search results only showing definitions of "demon" and "hunter" like some encyclopedia, made him laugh with a mix of amusement and sadness.
How could he bring a content creation culture to this boring world?
He shook his head, then immediately got up and grabbed his jacket to go grocery shopping for the ingredients he would cook for his co-worker.
With a grunt, he lifted the large trash bags in both hands, opened the door, and got out.
