Two days later, Marcus stormed into Amaya's life, his fury unmasked.
"You had the chance," he hissed, slamming his hand against the wall beside her. "You could have ended him—but you chose him instead."
Amaya's pulse quickened. "I didn't choose him. I chose myself."
Marcus's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Don't fool yourself. You're falling for him, and it will destroy you."
She lifted her chin, defiant even as fear coiled in her stomach. "Better to fall than become a monster like you."
His smile was cold. "Then you've made yourself my enemy too."
