Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Jaw-Dropping Skills

Leon

Combat Attribute: Wind

Path: Abundance

Faction: Astral Express

Character Description:

A doctor with an unpredictable personality.

He teeters between reliable and unreliable, but at the very least, the Astral Express crew can fully trust him.

"What the… teetering between reliable and unreliable? What's that about?"

Katiya scratched her head.

Ah Xian: "No wonder he has that special vibe. Probably a trickster or scheming type of character?"

"A scheming doctor? That's a bit of a contradictory trait. Ahem, let big sis check out his real stats."

Level: 80/80

Base HP: 1305

Base Attack: 4

Base Defense: 551

Speed: 100

Aggro: 100

Energy Cap: 110

Most viewers, new to turn-based games, weren't sensitive to these numbers.

They didn't fully grasp the purpose of stats like speed, aggro, or energy cap.

But no matter who you were, seeing that base attack stat was hard to stomach.

Ah Xian nearly spat out her milk tea.

"How is his attack only 4 points? A total weakling with less than 5 combat power?"

"He's Abundance. That 4-point attack means he doesn't rely on that stat. Chill," Katiya said, chuckling.

"His body's pretty solid, though. High base HP and defense."

"Speed's average, aggro's normal, energy's low, so his rotation should be pretty simple."

"Let's check out his skill set next."

Basic Attack (Single-Target) (Level 6)

[Why's Your Head So Pointy?]

Deals Wind damage equal to 50% of Leon's max HP to a designated enemy.

Energy Regen: 20

Toughness Reduction: 10

"See? He scales off HP. The skill name's a bit quirky, though."

The audience in both streams could hear Katiya trying to stifle her laughter.

"Anyway, it's pretty standard. No enhanced basic attack module. Next."

Skill (Bounce) (Level 10)

[Approaching Storm]

Deals Wind damage equal to 30% of Leon's max HP to a designated enemy, plus 2 additional hits.

Each additional hit deals Wind damage equal to 10% of Leon's max HP to a random enemy.

Each hit restores 100 HP to all allies.

Energy Regen: 30

Toughness Reduction: 10

"Huh?"

"Huh?"

Ah Xian and Katiya said in unison.

"His skill can deal damage and heal, but the healing's so low?"

"A single-target hit plus two extra, three attacks total, and only 300 fixed healing at max level? That's it?"

"Young heroes might not know, but a typical DPS character's max-level HP is around 2800–3000."

"300, even with healing boost stats, won't hit 500. That's really low."

Katiya shook her head slightly.

In her view, this skill's utility was pretty poor.

Healers weren't expected to deal damage, especially not scaling off HP.

For one skill point, it dealt negligible damage and healed pitifully little—hardly valuable.

If you had to say something, the bounce-type skill's total toughness reduction was decent.

Each hit reduced 10 toughness, so three hits meant 30, roughly matching Welt's skill.

[If you want healing, do it yourself… sorry, got distracted by the skill name.]

[Is his weapon a tachi?]

[Can he open portals or summon micro-loans?]

[Good grief, why are there Big Illness Ward fans here too?]

Ah Xian recalled Leon's support in the earlier story and instinctively reassured,

"Don't rush. His ultimate's healing should be strong. It fully restored everyone during the story."

All eyes followed the streamer's cursor as it moved to Leon's next skill.

Ultimate (AoE) (Level 10)

[This Doctor's Pretty Reliable]

Deals Wind damage equal to 80% of Leon's max HP to all enemies while restoring 1234 HP to all allies.

Hit targets enter the [Dreamscape] state, triggered up to 1 time.

[Dreamscape]:

When an enemy attempts to apply action delay or control debuffs to an ally, the ally becomes immune to that debuff and retaliates against the enemy, ignoring resistance.

Energy Regen: 5

Toughness Reduction: 20

At this, Ah Xian was fine, but Katiya audibly gasped.

"Thorns?"

"And it ignores resistance?"

"Holy crab, this ultimate's effect is insane!"

"You guys might not see the value at first glance, so let me translate."

"In plain words: enemies can't control us, and they get controlled instead, with 100% probability."

"Action delay means pushback or slow. Control debuffs include imprisonment, freeze, stun, and the like."

"In other words, Leon's ultimate doesn't just heal the whole team."

"It also slaps a self-damaging debuff on all enemies."

"From another angle, it's stronger than straight control immunity!"

Katiya's explanation was straightforward, but many still couldn't grasp its full value.

No problem.

Soon enough, some control-spamming enemy would get elbowed into oblivion, and they'd understand.

Ah Xian sighed earnestly.

"Now that you put it that way, this doctor really is reliable."

Katiya: "The ultimate's healing is decent. With Constellations and healing boost stats, it's at least 1800."

"For a standard four-star healer, that's about the healing amount. Looks like Leon's main highlight is this unique control counter."

"No surprises, his passive talents probably won't be anything too special."

She clicked on Leon's talent.

Talent (Bounce) (Level 10)

[Seize Your Sickness, Take Your Life]

When an enemy enters an action delay or control debuff state, immediately triggers a follow-up attack on that enemy, dealing Wind damage equal to 10% of Leon's max HP, followed by 4 additional hits.

Each additional hit deals Wind damage equal to 5% of Leon's max HP to a random enemy.

When an enemy enters a non-control debuff state, each affected enemy grants Leon 1 stack of [Gaze].

At 5 stacks, immediately triggers a follow-up attack on a random enemy, up to a maximum of 10 stacks.

Enemies hit by the follow-up attack have all their resistances reduced by 10% for 2 turns.

Debuffs applied by this follow-up attack do not grant [Gaze].

Energy Regen: 5

Toughness Reduction: Single-Target 3.33

"Holy—noble resistance reduction!"

Katiya exclaimed.

"Pela and Yanqing's Constellation 4 only give 12% resistance reduction, and it's limited to Ice!"

"Leon, a healer, reduces all resistances by 10%? One word: must-build!"

"I take back what I said—this talent is way too standout!"

10% resistance reduction might seem small, but as long as the enemy's resistance isn't 0, the actual damage boost is more than 10%.

For early-game characters with limited damage amplification options, this resistance reduction was incredibly valuable.
