Chapter 107 - Chapter 107 Missing Person Commission

Looking at the corpse before him, Klein, with practiced ease, began his Dream Divination.

In the hazy world, light and shadow flickered, coalescing into scenes and images:

It was a conversation between Mersault and a middle-aged man dressed in a somewhat ostentatious manner.

"No matter what you do, you must find Ian Wright and try to keep him alive…" the middle-aged man instructed Mersault.

"Yes, Mr. Ambassador."

Mr. Ambassador?

I actually encountered a Beyonder incident involving another country… Klein was slightly surprised, looking at the spiritualistic scene.

If that were truly the case, then this matter would likely not end easily.

He looked up. Mersault's corpse lay there, eyes wide open, seemingly still retaining a hint of ferocity.

"And this corpse also needs to be dealt with…" Klein felt a touch of bitterness.

He encountered a heap of trouble in Tingen, and now it's the same in Backlund…

Temporarily casting his complaints aside, Klein pondered how to handle the current situation.

Call the police directly… Dispose of the corpse under the cover of night… Or change his name again and flee this huge trouble.

"Divination…" After much deliberation, Klein chose to use the Seer's method to decide his fate.

After some tinkering and thought.

Klein chose the lesser of two evils.

According to the divination results, he chose to call the police directly.

Inside the Truth Union's office on the third floor.

"How is Sherlock Moriarty?" Charles looked at Bart beside him.

"He should be a Seer."

"He doesn't seem like someone from the Hermes Society," Bart's answer was concise.

"Is he related to the Church of the Night…?" Charles asked again.

Among the Orthodox Churches, the Church of the Night also produces many Seers. Considering that the Church of the Night's members are all cunning, one cannot entirely rule out the possibility that the other party is bait released by the Church of the Night.

After all, some things must be guarded against.

"Unclear." Bart shook his head.

"He himself claims to be a believer in the God of Steam and Machinery, but from the information I've gathered so far, he doesn't seem very devout."

Charles picked up a report and flipped through it, saying:

"He has never publicly proclaimed his faith, nor has he been to church many times, and he doesn't wear any machinery-related accessories."

"Director, that's a bit suspicious!" Bart said.

"Hmm…"

Charles nodded slightly, turning another page of the report before him.

"However, no contact of any kind has been found between Sherlock Moriarty and the Church of the Night."

"Nor with the Church of Storms."

After pondering for dozens of seconds, Charles slowly spoke.

"I personally lean towards him being half an unbeliever.

His faith is merely a necessary disguise to integrate into society."

"An unbeliever… just like us," Bart muttered to himself.

"That should be right. If he were bait from the Church of the Night, it would be too crude."

"A truly wild Seer, huh… That's too rare… Family inheritance or an accident…" Charles's tone was somewhat novel.

"Director…" Bart slightly opened his mouth, appearing hesitant.

"If you have something to ask, just say it…" Charles snapped out of his thoughts.

"Why are you so concerned about that Sherlock?"

"Because he is a Seer. You know how convenient that Pathway is."

"The ability of divination is indeed very convenient, but…" Bart still wanted to say something.

"But we don't lack Seers, do we?" Charles spoke the words the other party wanted to say.

"Hmm." Bart nodded.

"Sigh… Just consider it my personal intuition. I've always been quite trusting of that…" He pressed his Sun temple.

"Intuition…" Bart slightly opened his mouth, then swallowed his words back.

As support, Seers are undoubtedly among the most useful. As members of the Shawshank Firm, Charles and Bart clearly knew how useful this Pathway was.

Although the Shawshank Firm had many Seers, compared to the current extensive workload, more was naturally better.

Of course, there were also deeper reasons…

Even within the Shawshank Firm, almost all Seers belonged to the Spade faction.

There was a rumor that Spade 2, a high-ranking member of the Shawshank Firm, was a high-Sequence Beyonder of the Seer Pathway. Therefore, almost all Seers naturally gravitated towards him.

At least, those cultivated by the Shawshank Firm itself were more or less related to him.

Given Charles's current position, to build a team loyal to himself, he needed to minimize the factional labels on his members.

In fact, the best way was to prepare the Beyonder characteristic himself and cultivate a Seer loyal to him.

But such an action itself represented a certain ambiguity; privately buying Beyonder characteristics could not be expensed through public accounts, meaning it couldn't be reimbursed, and it could easily cause unnecessary misunderstandings.

The Shawshank Firm itself had a tradition of recruiting wild Beyonders. If this Sherlock Moriarty had no issues, it would be ideal to recruit him through official procedures.

"By the way, it says here that he packs food from the guild cafeteria every day to take back." Charles pointed to a piece of information on the document and asked Bart beside him.

"Is this true?"

"True. I've confirmed it with the cafeteria staff." Bart gave an affirmative answer.

"Greedy for money… or does he like to take advantage…" Charles mused.

Small details often reflect a person's true living habits.

"If he's too short on money, he doesn't really seem like an undercover agent…"

"Sherlock, morning!"

"Morning." Klein distractedly greeted the semi-familiar detectives in the guild.

After he reported the incident yesterday, he was interrogated at the police station for half a day and finally paid 10 pounds in bail.

It was also fortunate that the landlord couple were good people and didn't make too much of a fuss about it, otherwise he would have had to pay another sum in compensation.

He sighed at the thought.

Although the Beyonder characteristic left behind by Mersault was probably worth a lot of money, compared to the potential trouble it could bring, that amount of money was nothing.

One could say that the 5 pounds he earned from Ian was the least profitable money he had made recently…

And his intuition told him that this matter would not end so simply, and he might face retaliation from that ambassador at any time.

He specifically came to the guild today to inquire about the situation and see if there was any useful information.

"Sherlock…"

"Sherlock."

"I'm sorry, I was distracted." Klein, snapping out of his thoughts, realized someone was calling him.

"What is it?" he asked the receptionist.

"There's a missing person commission here. Are you taking it?"

'Missing person, another unchallenging commission?'

Klein, entangled in trouble, wasn't really in the mood to take commissions, but out of curiosity, he still asked.

"Who needs to be found?"
