Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 Changes in Position

Just finished reading Danmachi sword oratoria(all 136 chapters) and I got to say… the thing i was writing in the Zamasu in danmachi fanfic was straight ass. I realized not one shit I wrote was accurate.

————————————————————

3 days had passed since the kabane attack…

And during that short time, several major changes had taken place.

For one, everyone on the train had now learned about Kaelis's existence.

At first, some doubted the soldiers' stories—but after seeing him flying the day before and hearing consistent reports of his feats, skepticism quickly faded.

Flying, summoning swords, inhuman speed and strength… yeah, definitely not human.

Though calling him a god was still too much for some, others settled on the idea that he might be an angel—a divine messenger rather than a full-fledged deity.

That thought spread faster after Kibito finally asked the question he'd been holding back since the attack:

"Was the light in the sky your doing?"

Kaelis had smiled and simply said yes—even explaining that the light show back at the station had been his doing as well.

The revelation shocked many.

They remembered the golden glow, but due to it being quite a ways from them and overshadowed by buildings, they had dismissed it as some freak divine sign at the time.

Only those close to the source had truly seen what he did.

That one admission changed a lot within the train.

For one thing, leadership.

Before all this, there had been growing dissent toward Ayame's leadership—many felt she was too inexperienced and had voted her down, handing the train's control over to Akouji and his supporters in the shogunate faction.

Now?

After everything Kaelis did—and the fact that Ayame, Kurusu, and the kabaneri had made contact and were seen working alongside him way before he admitted himself—people began reevaluating their stance.

A quiet meeting was held to discuss the issue of leadership once again.

Akouji and his men weren't pleased, of course.

Knowing they couldn't win a direct confrontation, they turned to underhanded tactics—whispering lies that Kaelis himself was a kabane in disguise.

That rumor spread fast, but it died just as quickly.

No one could bring themselves to believe it—not when every single thing Kaelis had done so far was the opposite of malicious.

On the contrary, once the public learned that it was Akouji's poor judgment that had led to their earlier predicament… well, they wanted his head.

And as for the mysterious "leak" that made sure that little detail reached everyone's ears?

Well, it definitely wasn't Kaelis.

Definitely.

With Akouji's influence collapsing, the people naturally turned to the one person who had proven himself capable of protecting them—the one who had done what no human could.

They nominated a new leader.

The traveling divine being himself—Kaelis, to which Ayame and others had no opposition.

Of course, Kaelis had no real intention of sticking around forever.

He'd already studied everything this world had to offer, and there wasn't any new material or magic that interested him anymore.

Originally, he planned to leave for another world soon.

But for now, he decided to linger a bit longer — to watch things unfold from the sidelines.

After all, the two kabaneri—Ikoma and Mumei—intrigued him.

And, of course, there were also the "two lovebirds" he found amusing to tease.

As for the other changes…

Fire!"

BANG! BANG!

Gunfire echoed through the train's cabin.

A few soldiers were currently testing newly engineered firearms, and judging by their wide eyes and grins, they were impressed.

"The improvements on these are incredible, Suzuki."

"Thank you for the compliment, my lord," Suzuki replied with a humble bow. "But I merely adjusted the jet bullets to work with Ikoma's piercing gun."

Getting praised by a divine being was no small thing, and the steamsmith's heart swelled with pride.

Kaelis gave a small nod. "You're still one of the co-developers of the jet bullets. That alone speaks volumes of your skill and dedication."

He said it with genuine respect.

Kaelis had quickly noticed Suzuki's personality — serious, focused, and completely devoted to his craft.

Unlike many others, he showed no discrimination toward the kabaneri.

In fact, he even shows respect to Ikoma's intellect as a fellow engineer.

That kind of mindset earned Kaelis's recognition.

Meanwhile, Ikoma had… gone full-blown nerd mode.

"We designed it so that the primer explosion also strikes the metal plate inside the cartridge," he explained enthusiastically, waving his hands as he spoke. "That creates additional heat, which boosts the air pressure behind the bullet and—"

Kaelis blinked once.

Then mentally tuned out.

He was a sword guy—not a gun guy.

Sure, he could comprehend the underlying physics if he wanted to—after all, understanding rules and laws far beyond this world's grasp was—although not simple, it was well within his capabilities.

But the moment someone started talking mechanics and engineering, that was where he drew the line.

No time for that.

And look at that, he was not the only one.

The others exchanged tired looks—clearly they'd rather be anywhere but listening to cartridge chemistry. Kaelis waited a beat, then cut in.

No time for that. Kaelis let Ikoma ramble until his lips finally stopped moving.

"Just so we're clear… What you're saying is, using these bullets can we defeat the kabane?" one of the testers asked, wanting a straight answer.

If it helps them with getting rid of the kabane faster and less risky, they'll welcome anything.

"Yes. Absolutely."

They quickly went over a few more things before they wrapped up.

Seeing as they got done with the guns introduction and testing, Kaelis took over.

"And another thing." Kaelis signaled for someone to bring over a wooden box.

Opening it, they were presented with a set of katanas.

But these weren't the average katanas… no, these were reinforced katanas.

"We used some of the weapons stockpiles within the armory and covered these blades in the natural occurring metal found in the kabane heart cages so its durability is not much higher."

He gave them a better look at the blades.

The blades were black and grey with thin red streaks running from the habaki to its kisaki.

"I've also taken the liberty of imbuing the existing swords with [recovery]," he explained, "and I already wrote down some blacksmith techniques to forge the blades from the kabane's membrane. You'll have to make due for now."

He set the crate down and met their faces. Straightforward, practical—exactly what they needed.

You might ask—why not just create all the blades himself?

Well, Kaelis had his reasons.

Handing out weapons made by his own power would only make them dependent on him, and he had no intention of staying in this world for long.

Better to let them learn how to forge their own.

Sure, attribute swords would not be supplied anymore, but at least they'd have the few he provided—and the knowledge to create stronger swords over time.

And really, when you think about it… as long as humans exist, kabane exists.

And as long as kabane exists, they'll never run out of raw materials.

A near-infinite supply of swords, courtesy of the monsters that tried to wipe them out.

He further went on, detailing the effects of [recovery].

Although not overwhelming as he lowered the effects, they are still top tier for the average person.

Its effects is that it restores energy over time and heals minor injuries. In the right hand, a trained person might be able to fight at full power for a straight 2 hours.

"Alright, that's all for today. Let's go."

He dismissed the presentations and headed for the passenger area.

Chapter 19 end.
