Chapter 3 - 003: Testing my Patience

Tessa's POV

"Henry"

"Ah please call me Williams, I prefer that."

I stretched my hand and gave him a hand shake, my eyes gazed upon his face. Isn't he the guy everyone was fawning over during the assembly? I thought to myself.

Why is he here? And why was the principal talking to him about me?

As the thoughts played in my head, I turned to the principal and gave her an expression that said: what is this all about? And she caught on quickly.

"Yes! Ms. Tessa here would be your tutor."

Tutor? I thought.

"W-What do you mean Ma'am?" I asked, politely staring puzzled while she displayed a bright smile on her face like everything was going according to her plan.

"Well as you know, Mr Williams joined our school at a late time and as a result haven't balanced yet in our curriculum and knowing you with your exceptional grades I personally picked you to help him get on the right track."

Huh? I scoffed.

Get into the right track? What does she mean by that? I didn't even know about him until this morning. And why does he need a tutor? Didn't he take the exams last semester so why would he need me, and also isn't he rich? Why me if all people?

"I don't really understand." I fired at the principal. I wasn't going to stand for it, not in my last year of high school, and my inner peace?

The principal gave out a laugh as she held my hand, raised it up as if begging me.

"You are the only one I can count on for this. You are the most brilliant pupil in the department of mathematical science. You might not think much of it, but you are very well known and admired for that."

As she said this, I stared in curiosity.

What does she mean by well known and admired? I'm very sure I've done well enough to keep myself unknown by people, and it has worked well for me for the most part.

I turned and stared at Williams

And now my I'm to teach a rich son? This day couldn't get any weirder.

I let out a sharp breath as I couldn't ignore those eyes of the principal begging me to take the gig. It's like this was her last hope or something, or she was focused to doing so and had no choice.

"Alright fine." I said, as I removed my hand from the her grasp.

"Wow… thank you so much Tess?" she slammed her hands together with a bright smile on her face.

What did she just call me? Tess? Since when did we become friends?

"So when are we supposed to start this tutor?" I asked, taking a brief look at Williams then back at the principal.

"Oh… that wouldn't be a problem." she said. "I have created a kind of timetable in which you guys would use to study because I know your schedules are different."

The Principal went to her desk, opened a drawer, and pulled out a piece of paper.

"Here!" she said as she gave it to me. "This would cover three days a week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday."

"So basically we would be starting today—monday?" I asked, after collecting the paper.

"That's correct. I have indicated the venue for you guys so it should be comfortable, right?"

I scanned the sheet and saw the place she had chosen—the library. At least she chose an unpopulated area, so this might not be so bad.

As I continued scanning the sheet, the principal stood before me and placed her hand on my shoulder then said:

"This is only for a couple weeks, so good luck." Then she leaned closer, that I could literally feel her breath on my skin, and whispered in my ear:

"Don't get carried away since he's a hottie."

What?!

Like hell I would, Not in a million years. I'm not even interested in such trivial things, and why would she think such a thing I'm literally doing her a favor here.

As she pulled back, I gave her a death stare out of frustration, but she only responded with a wink.

"That would be all!" she said.

As she said this, I folded the paper in my hands, gave this Williams guy a slight gaze—he had a sweet smile on his face which of course I didn't buy. Who does he think I am?

While we were about to leave the office with me at his front, the principal called him to wait behind.

What more do they want to talk about?

--

As I left the principal office I thought to myself:

What just happened? How did my life turn from peace and invisible, to being a tutor for the most popular kid in school? Is fate messing with me now?

While walking, a thought came to me. Since he was so popular wouldn't that mean he could tell his friends and they'll all come to support him? Meaning—It wouldn't just be the two of us there, but almost half of the entire school? And my peace? What would happen to my peaceful life?

Ugh!

There's no way I can stand such, I should go and tell the principal about this before it gets out of hand. As I was about to make my way back to her office the bell rang, which meant that the break hour was over.

'Sheesh, I didn't even achieve most of my plans today, what is wrong with this day?!'

I went back to my classroom for my next lecture—since I couldn't go to the library again. I sat down on my chair which was located at the last-right side of the classroom, dropped my bag and brought out the textbook for the next lecture.

Just then I stared at the window of the classroom and Emma was outside waving. It seems like she didn't have any lectures at the moment and had come to find me, but it's too sad I have one right now.

However, I don't think she knows that as she walked into the classroom and began approaching me, but before she could get to me some of the girls in my classroom stopped her and started asking her questions: Why does she always looking sexy, How she does her hair, and how does she carry herself so well and proudly

Of course nobody knows except me knew that Emma was actually a rich daughter. For some reason she doesn't want anyone else to know and told me to never tell. So I can understand why they are all over her and asking her what kind of lotion she uses since she's not rich—in their mind.

Scoffs'

While they all gathered around her and wouldn't let her come to meet me—although not intentional, she gave me an expression that said: please save me. Honestly I wouldn't want to do it if she wasn't asking with that cute and adorable expression.

Although as I was about to stand, the lecturer for the next lecture entered the classroom.

"Get to your seat everyone!" The lecturer proclaimed.

As the immediately all the girls hanging on Emma went to their seat, while Emma left the classroom class waving, since she couldn't come to meet me again.

I smiled.

Guess I didn't really have to intervene huh?

--

The lecture ended, followed by the one after, then another, and afterwards I was done for the day. It was already 4:30, so I decided to head to the library where I would wait for Hen-I meant Williams to begin tutoring him.

Honestly, we are not even in the same class so what am I supposed to teach him? And also, are we even studying the same major?

As I reached the library, I saw a couple of girls coming outside of it, laughing like they had just achieved something great. I don't think I could ever understand how they can laugh like that.

At least they were leaving so I wouldn't have to put up with that. Normally, no one comes here during the lunch hour which is when I'm at peace, but I can't say for certain after school hours. But what would they want to do in the library after school hours?

As I opened the door, I was graced by a spectacular scenery caused by the sun setting. The entire library was glowing red and yellow, it was so beautiful that it made butterflies in my stomach.

How come I didn't know about this for all the time I was coming here? Maybe I would change my time to after school hours.

As usual I went to my usual seat—at least the place I like seating anytime I'm here, it's far from getting disturbed by people but not so much that I couldn't be seen.

As I sat, I brought out my snacks that I wasn't able to eat during lunch hour, and then began waiting for Hen-I mean Williams while I ate.

--

It had already been long since I got her and had already finished eating my snacks but Williams hadn't arrived yet. I wonder why that was, but didn't think too much of it and decided to wait a little longer. However, time passed and the sun was already going now.

I checked my time. It was 5:00 pm, I've been waiting for an hour now, what's with the hold up? Did he get lost or what? That could be it, so I decided to wait for another 10 minutes, which turned into a 20, then 40, and then a full hour.

6:00

Wow… he's sure testing my patience. What was I even thinking? Waiting for someone like that? He's probably out somewhere handing with his friends now.

Scoffs'

Well… I never actually thought this could work anyways, but I decided to show, and this is what I get?

It was getting late and the librarian would be here to lock the library in the next thirty minutes so what was the point of waiting anymore? Knowing this, I stood up, carried my bag and went home.
