Chapter 25 - 25

Ah?"

Cindy grabbed her hair with both hands. "That's not fair. Why am I the only one who…?"

"Is it because you think I'm not good-looking?"

She leaned closer to Ye Li, asking suspiciously, "Don't you like me?"

"Oh no, you're very alluring~"

Ye Li, of course, wouldn't be a spoilsport. "I also want to have a deeper conversation with you. How about we set a time for a thorough exchange?"

"Hey! I'm not an easy girl!"

Cindy defended herself, then looked at Ye Li and guessed, "Let me guess the teacher's identity. Ghost Spider is female, so are you Black Spider?"

Ye Li said indifferently, "Then I also think you're Ghost Spider."

Although the Black Spider's appearance is similar to Ghost Spider's, he hasn't shown the ability to crawl walls or shoot webs, so there's no necessary connection between the two.

"I'm not Ghost Spider. You can call me [Spider-Web], or [Bride]."

"Bride?"

"It's just a title!"

Cindy didn't dismiss her guess that he was Black Spider just because Ye Li turned the tables.

However, her Spider-Sense noticed that Skye and the others were catching up again, so she began to take off her clothes.

Soon, only a small bustier and underwear remained, revealing large areas of alluring skin to Ye Li.

Ye Li raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing? Here?"

"Don't think too much! Help me hold these."

Cindy shoved her clothes into his arms, then moved her ten slender fingers.

Webs quickly appeared at her fingertips, wrapping around her body to form a web-suit.

The way she used webs was different from Gwen's web-shooters; it looked like magic.

"I think you're going to take me with you, right?"

Ye Li examined Cindy's new web-suit. Hmm… it felt even more alluring than not wearing anything.

Cindy wrapped one arm around his waist, shot a web from her hand that stuck to a teaching building, and swung him away. "I still have a lot to tell you. This is very important! Our identities are more dangerous than you imagine!"

Ye Li, holding her clothes, pulled out his phone. "Then I'll notify Skye and the others that I'm out on a date with you, so they don't worry?"

"Do… whatever you want to say."

Chapter 30: Lend Him a Hand! Undercurrents Surge!

"Damn it! Damn it!"

"All the company's circuit solutions were my ideas! Why should the credit be stolen by those guys above me?!"

Maxwell "Max" Dillon is an electrical engineer at the Osborn Group.

He was currently buying drinks on top of a building, empty beer cans strewn all over the place, getting closer and closer to the edge of the roof.

Max had believed since childhood that he had talent in electricity and wanted to become an electrical engineer.

But his single mother, thinking he wasn't smart enough to succeed, sent him to a factory to work as a wireman.

After half a lifetime of hard work, Max finally secured an electrical engineer position at the Osborn Group.

However, due to the irritable temper he developed from growing up in a single-parent family, his colleagues disliked him, and he was a nobody at the company.

During a major circuit redesign at the company, he seized the opportunity to provide an excellent solution for the company.

He had expected to be appreciated, but all the credit was stolen by his superiors!

The disapproval of those around him, and his lack of success at work.

Led him to climb to this rooftop.

Drowning his sorrows in alcohol.

And aimlessly scrolling through the news.

[Osborn Group Shareholder Disputes, now in chaos, many unprofitable or low-profit research projects stopped, future uncertain…]

"Heh, good that it's chaotic."

[Latest news on "Green Goblin" Norman Osborn, his body still not recovered, experts suspect faked death to escape punishment…]

"Norman? Heh, good riddance, pop the champagne!"

[Tony Stark announces the closure of Stark Industries' weapons division, causing a huge stir, shareholders dumping their Stark Industries stock…]

"Bastard! He made me lose a fortune! Damn capitalists! They all deserve to die!"

[Ghost Spider recently raided multiple gang strongholds and provided multiple leads to the New York Police Department. The mastermind behind the gangs is called "Tombstone"… Fans praise her as the most down-to-earth superhero, but Female Knight fans seem to have different opinions…]

"Superheroes? Can they save my damn life?!"

Growing more enraged as he read, Max turned off his screen, not bothering to look at the next news item: [Black Spider Suspected to Appear in Afghanistan].

Feeling that life was hopeless, under the influence of alcohol, he walked to the edge of the building, intending to jump.

He didn't notice that not far from him, two people embracing each other swung past.

"Cindy, your home is so far, going to school must be quite troublesome."

Ye Li had an ulterior motive. "How about living in my manor? Water and electricity are free, rent is also free, and I can even hire a driver to pick you up and drop you off."

"I'm afraid you'll eat me."

Cindy squirmed. "Teacher, can you put your hands properly and not touch strange places. Be careful, I might lose my grip, and we'll both fall."

"I'm just curious about the material of your webs. Besides, you don't seem to mind."

"It's all because of that strange attraction!"

Cindy: "Teacher was so gentlemanly in class. Felicia would definitely be disappointed if she knew you were so perverted!"

"I think she'd be quite excited."

Ye Li was about to tease her a bit more when he heard the system send a message: [Detected Gwen Stacy's Fated Enemy, "Electro," Maxwell Max Dillon]

Hmm?

Ye Li sensed it and also discovered Max on the rooftop, still the "bro" version.

Seeing him at the edge of the building, ready to jump.

Ye Li pondered for a moment and decided… to give him a push.

Anyway, Max already wanted to die, so why not conveniently earn some rewards? He just didn't know if "lending a helping hand" counted as a defeat.

Although the opponent seemed to be an ordinary person now, so what? Should he wait for the enemy to become stronger and pose a threat to his woman?

Being judged as a [Fated Enemy] by the system indicated that as long as Max didn't change, he would confront Gwen in the future.

Of course.

Ye Li also had principles; he would only make a slight move.

If he could survive, he would let him off this time.

Anyway, even if Max became Electro later, he had ways to deal with him; it just wouldn't be as effortless as acting now.

So.

Just as Max was about to jump and end his life, he suddenly felt a strong gust of wind pushing him from behind, as if by divine intervention.

My God, do even the gods want me to die?!

Is my life really such a failure?!

With this thought, he fell from the rooftop.

However, to Ye Li's surprise—at the same time, Cindy happened to swing past from that direction!

"What was that?! It's going to hit!"

Cindy instinctively shot out a large web, covering Max and sticking him to a glass window of a skyscraper.

"You scared me to death. If you're going to die, can't you die somewhere far away?"

Cindy patted her chest in fear.

Her Spider-Sense and speed were stronger than Gwen's, but her strength and physique were slightly inferior.

If she had been hit by that, it definitely wouldn't have felt good, especially since she had Ye Li in her arms.

"Uh…"

Seeing Cindy's astonishing words, as if revealing another side of herself, Ye Li asked her strangely, "Aren't you a superhero? Why are you telling people to die somewhere far away?"

"Who told you I was a superhero?"

Cindy reminded him, "I'm telling you, don't go trying to be a superhero like Ghost Spider just because you have some abilities. We're actually barely able to protect ourselves. I'll tell you more in detail when we land!"

Ye Li was indifferent. It was just the Mo Lun Family; of course, he knew, but he didn't care.
