In the Southern Continent, amongst the northernmost regions of The Thirteen Kingdoms, a legendary hero was born. He and his three closest friends set out on a journey for strength. And when a great civil war broke out, they were the ones to step in and stop it. This legendary hero would then go on to travel across the entire world. Meeting countless new people and forming alliances with dozens of countries. His power and influence shook all of humanity. So much so, that the beings who overlook humanity took notice. These beings, capable of manipulating reality and changing the very concepts of nature, grew worrisome. Until one day, an ancient warrior who has lived for thousands of years was challenged by the legendary hero. All of humankind witnessed their battle. Earthquakes strong enough to shatter cities rang across the battlefield. Spells strong enough to wipe out whole kingdoms were cast instantly and without an incantation. Black flames seared through anything it touched, leaving nothing but rubble and dust. The legendary hero fought with all his might, and pushed beyond what was originally thought capable of humans. But even so, he was soon outclassed by his foe, and defeated. But he didn't give up. With one last push, the legendary hero gathered all his strength and achieved an even higher power. For a moment… just a mere moment, his power exceeded any other living thing in existence. But it faded all too fast, and his life force vanished. Without a single spec of vida, the legendary hero died standing up.
His death changed the course of humanity forever. Magic and spells were reshaped and rapidly increased in firepower, thanks to his teachings. The Southern Continents military might have tripled in less than a decade, and alliances stretched from one end of the world to another, preventing wars from breaking out. His influence not only inspired trust but it demanded it. Kids were taught his name in school. His adventures were admired by any and everyone aspiring to become a warrior. But no matter how hard people tried, nobody could ever achieve the greatness he had.
This story however, takes place beyond the concept of "humanity" or "greatness". It has no legendary hero, or epic adventure. This story would not be told through time for one simple reason. That reason being… There are no humans. No bystanders. No rumors to be spread. No secret techniques to teach, or spells to cast. Nothing but nature, life, death and rebirth. These simple concepts keep reality stable. And when things get complicated, reality can warp. When warped enough, it becomes unstable. This story tells a tale of how seven kids, not even old enough to be considered adults, shaped humanity. A turning point that signifies the beginning of reality's warping. But with the creation of humanity, comes the creation of overseers. Overseers that exist being the bounds of humanity, who can watch over them and dictate whether their actions are worthy of existence or not.
And so that leads us to the very beginning. Where the first of humanity awakens, and finds themselves amidst a trial of gods. Marking it as year one of the human era, the first ever God Trials now begins.
